Sorry. Wasn't trying to make light of the act, just noting OF's lyrical content on the off chance some unsuspecting visitor tries to give it a first listen in an inappropriate setting. I guess I should have just added a "NSFW".

Last year's Lips was my first time and... yeah, very disappointing with all the hype I'd heard about them. I left about 4 songs (and about 30 minutes of talking) in to go see Yeasayer (who were excellent).
I'll give the Lips a mulligan though. Hope they bring it next time through.

MOD EDIT
No.
Talk about all the shitty music you want, but we absolutely do not make jokes about rape.

I generally can't move/function as a human being for at least 20-30 minutes after EitS shows. Mmmm... this is sort of how I felt after they played Pioneer Square at sunset for last year's MFNW. I did manage to catch the next MAX, but was in a bit of a daze. It was my first time seeing them.

Cool. We should try to meet up at some point. I'll PM you. Sounds good. You like Godspeed, right? I think we'll be friends. Oh yes. I finally got to see them last year, but fuckin McMenamins had 80's Dance night raging just below the Crystal and tainted the experience. Hoping Coachella won't make that mistake.

I hate the Hawthorne. I'm going there next week to see Atlas Sound and I already know there's going to be sound problems. Seriously, why haven't they fixed that shit yet? It's been like that ever since I started going to shows. Dude what the fuck, why is Atlas Sound playing the Hawthorne? That should be at the Doug Fir.A-fucking-MEN! PS - thanks to Geno for reminding me - still need to get my ticket to that.

Most of my Top 10 (including Bon Iver, Explosions, Feist, St. Vincent, The Shins, Gardens & Villa, etc) I will see at Coachella one month before (hence my hesitation to go this year).
Instead, this Top 10 is bands I've never seen live:
1. Little Dragon 2. The Roots 3. Cave Singers 4. Jack White* 5. The War on Drugs 6. Metric 7. Beck 8. Dum Dum Girls 9. John C Reilly 10. Kurt Vile
*I did see the White Stripes years ago, but I expect this will be different.

I really like the song "Shining Bright Despite the Plight" from the album Glowing in the Darkest Night. EDM is hit or miss for me, but I just gave this a listen and I'd be all about a set comprised of spaced out groove sounds like that. However, will he really play that type of music or more like this? I'd guess the latter, but I admit my ignorance on the subject. FWIW, I was blown away by Ratatat last year and rather surprised by Glitch Mob too, so I'm warming up the genre.

I completely overlooked this the first dozen+ times through the list and then I suddenly realized that John Reilly was John C Reilly. I can't find anything anywhere on the interwebs about them (except a show blurb on tombrosseau.com), but I sort of love the song on the lineup page: sasquatchfestival.com/lineupReilly was pretty good in Chicago, but I had no idea he had a musical side career.

I'm pretty excited for Anaïs Mitchell's new album.
She's an excellent songwriter, but really went to a new level with Hadestown (w/ Bon Iver, Ani Difranco, etc) and her newest is with the same producer.

I know most of you are going Weekend 1, but are there any other boarders going Weekend 2?

I was hoping for a bit more from the lineup. Most of the artists I care about I'll see at Coachella, the rest will probably be at MFNW... yet I'm still tempted. I wish they'd gotten one more headliner though - Bjork, Portishead, Fleet Foxes... Are Pretty Lights and Girl Talk really top tier acts? Disappointed.

Oh I know man, I've spent a couple months in each for work. I just figured they were close enough that you could make the drive. I wish I could take credit for that. Those guys are ballsy. I can take credit for this one though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qraMwER8b_YYou do realize "Stash" means something hidden or put away. "Stache" is short for mustache.

I am reposting my list here because no one I know in real life gives a fuck about music. These are my favorites from last year, roughly in order, with one word descriptions for each. Put this on in the background and enjoy: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDB0B28EE8FF6C8A9. Future Islands - On the Water (Sweeping) Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues (Harmony) Bon Iver - Bon Iver (Angelic) Feist - Metals (Newsom'd) Washed Out - Within & Without (Relieved) Wye Oak - Civilian (Talented) St. Vincent - Strange Mercy (Elegant) The Weeknd - House of Balloons, Thursday, Echoes of Silence (Michael Jackson)* Real Estate - Days (Summer) Youth Lagoon - The Year of Hibernation (Honest) M83 - Hurry Up We're Dreaming (Childhood) A.A. Bondy - Believers (Gritty) The Black Keys - El Camino (Fun) Gardens & Villa - Gardens & Villa (Campy) The Antlers - Burst Apart (Melancholy) Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes (Soulful) The Cave Singers - No Witch (Jammin) Lia Ices - Grown Unknown (Delicate) The War On Drugs - Slave Ambient (Classic) Little Dragon - Ritual Union (Funky, Bluesy, Jazzy, Swedish) *I suppose this is cheating. An introverted dude from Toronto quietly releases a free, 9-song album on his blog, blows up the internets, gets name dropped by Drake, drops two more (free) albums all in the same year... and I only give him one spot in the list. Each full, 9-song album is a lush, moody, sexy, dirty, babymaking record full of Abel's unreal vocals and each one should have its own line.

I've seen half of these 10 before.
1. Radiohead 2. GY!BE 3. Bon Iver 4. St Vincent 5. Black Keys 6. The Weeknd 7. M83 8. Feist 9. Amon Tobin* 10. Dre & Snoop*
Runner up: Band of Skulls
*These last two aren't favorites (though I have some albums from both), but I anticipate great shows from both (for very different reasons).
