I was just pointing out that the Ticketmaster/Livenation angle doesn't seem to be the dealbreaker it once was for them. I didn't know about Soundgarden, but they could always give Irons a call again.

Plus Bright Eyes had a feud with Livenation before and still played last year.

I'm starting to believe there is a chance of Pearl Jam being there. The Ticketmaster/Livenation issue is a non-starter. They have European tour dates this summer through Livenation (UK) and Eddie's last solo tour was through Ticketmaster. Since they are already planning a summer tour, Sasquatch would be a great way to kick it off in the US. And they are coming off a mildly popular documentary about the band. Thats a good recipe for PJ in the Gorge. Pearl Jam (headline) 0% chance :/ Why are you guessing something that you think that it has no chance of showing up? -_-

Ah. The first post hadn't been updated in a while, so I wasn't sure if that was information from last year, but I get it now.

No, I don't want them to write anything in particular. I hope they are able to make whatever music they want to. For me, personally, there just wasn't much on Congratulations that stuck with me. I enjoyed it and gave it due time. It just didn't have the same impact. You asked what the first had that the second didn't and thats my answer. To be fair, I didn't really love either album. They're both decent imo. But I don't find myself randomly humming Brian Eno or Congratulations out of the blue. More likely you don't remember the songs as well because you didn't listen to it seventy-five times like you did Oracular.

So.... it sounds like a lot of Squatch regulars are going to Coachella this year?
I'm very very tempted to make this Coachella my first. There's just no way Sasquatch can live up to this.
So expensive though, especially with travel. It'd be worth it though, right?
Does everyone meet up? I didn't connect with this group last year at sasquatch, but it sounds like a good crew. I'd be more inclined to take the plunge if I (sort of/internet) knew some people going.

Fuck Mumford, and fuck his fans. I get agitated when worthless bands get huge and take over. Word. Poochfuck's dismissive review wash SOFA KING arbitrary. Someone please explain to me what about Oracular Spectacular does it for you that is missing from Congratulations. What's missing? Songs that are catchy and memorable and stick in your brain even when you grow tired of them. Congratulations was forgettable. Oracular was infectious.

Bon Iver (headliner) Fleet Foxes (headliner) RHCP (headliner) Sigur Ros (headliner) Deadmau5 The War on Drugs Of Montreal M83 Feist Cake The Shins Portugal The Man The Kills Childish Gambino Tune-yards Islands Plants and Animals Alabama Shakes WU LYF Chairlift Coeur de Pirate
My headliners seem too mellow overall, but I can't think of who else fits that is likely there.
I really wanted to add Portishead and/or Radiohead to this list, but I just don't think they'll happen.

Black Keys are looking less likely, as they have dates in the NW (Portland, Seattle, Vancouver) in early May, then wrap up the tour in Milwaukee.
They are playing big arenas this time, so its unlikely they'll do Squatch so close to those dates.

I know that I'm usually a proponent of NOT making too many threads, but fuck it, this needs to be said and I didn't know where else to put it.* Look everyone, I get that you're pumped to be at a music festival. And I get that you do things you normally wouldn't do (I rarely walk around at a concert in a wife beater and sunscreen, high-fiving people who are also singing the same sweet song I am). And I get that clapping any time you can discern the beat, or any time the song gets even kinda quieter, has long seemed part of the festival experience. But it's gotta stop. It's getting out of hand. It was getting out of hand when people were clapping semi-rhythmically during Explosions in the Sky. And it reached a peak this year when the kid I was standing near during Iron & Wine (who was there because he was seeing Bright Eyes for the first time ever and he was totally pumped for it) kept trying to get the crowd involved. Sometimes he'd add a flourish and drop some rapid eighth-note claps to spice up the otherwise obviously simple 4/4 beat. Fortunately, it didn't catch on most of the time because just stop fucking clapping. So here's a public announcement, which I will likely make a sticky next year: MINIMIZE THE CLAPPING. There should be, at most, ONE INSTANCE PER SET of the audience clapping along in unison. Exceeding that, on an individual or collective level, is just annoying. It's like doing the wave at a baseball game when your team is behind -- it shows you don't give a shit about the entertainment, and you're just there to be seen or hang out with your friends at an acceptably cool place. *Would anyone want a "Festival Pet Peeves" thread? Or would it just be me posting shit that pisses me off for no one's entertainment? At first I thought you were being facetious, but that's a lot of writing for a joke. Seems like a silly thing to complain about. People are having fun and getting into the music. How can that possibly ruin your experience? Jeebus.

I'd be up for some serious boobytrapping of tents and such for next year. BAIT TENTS Motherfuckers. Yeah, that won't backfire when you stumble back wasted at 3 AM and forget all about the trap.

nobody was about to come terrorize my campground as long as I was standing on my buddy's SUV with my pants down screaming "BURNETTS FOR BREAKFAST" and chugging it. Now thats a picture you need to post in the appropriate thread.

Did anyone else interact with the guy(s) "donating" hare krishna books? I sort of got the feeling after he left that he was scoping out campsites to steal from later. I didn't get anything stolen, but I was pretty careful with the valuables. I'm guessing most thieves aren't spending too much time loitering in a site or tent. Leaving things out in open view (locked or otherwise) is the worst move. this guy's there every year. did he have a like bucket hat ? I don't think he had a hat at all. Just a big back pack. I think he was dressed mostly in black.

I generally seem to be a little sick after sasquatch, but its more of an emotional hangover than physical ailment. Seem to get rather depressed having to come back to reality after 4 days of bliss. (For the record, this has nothing to do with Molly or any other mind-alterers - I've never partook)

I thought Death Cab was pretty decent, but my expectations were pretty low and I hadn't seen them previously. I liked how they opened the set with the long instrumental intro. I don't even really like that song, but it sounded good love and got me to stay for most of the set. "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" sounded really good and it seemed like everybody in my audible area was singing along, which made it all the more enjoyable.
Still not someone I would pay to see, but DCFC was certainly a surprise for me.

Someone needs to start a thread for stories of sharing & generosity to counter all this bad karma!

I do have to wonder what qualifications these guards have. Do they have experience in security before this? Have they been trained on how to properly deal with crowds and intoxicated people?
It seems like maybe the guards should leave the handcuffing and headlocks to the police. Especially the alcohol enforcement folks. Sounds like they might have been getting on some power trips without really knowing how to handle the situations.
There might actually be a case here if Live Nation is hiring unqualified people who are putting attendees in danger.
