On what planet is The 1975 a fine headliner? I would argue that is the worst of those 3, and there's a fucking wannabe stay puft in the mix. Oh come on. I'm not a big 1975 fan but they are nowhere near as bad as Marshmellow. Their last album was more than fine. I was going to say. Who is this guy and what did he do with Cbats? and.....Lil Yachty a dream sub-headliner? Its mostly a joke that he's not nearly that popular. He's great though and would be fun to have at sasquatch

Frank Ocean/The 1975/Marshmello The Head & the Heart/DJ Snake/Lil Yachty I know this is jokes but The 1975 would be a fine headliner and one of the better choices we could get if they were intent on going younger. Yachty only subheadlines in my dreams unfortunately

I really, really wanted to make it to this show but couldn't make it work. How was it? New songs sound good? It was intense and vivid and beautiful. Just him with an acoustic, no microphone, staring at the floor most of the time, except for a brief scan of the crowd at the end of each song. There was a very specific face he would make during the vivid parts, but he kept it together and the set was excellent. The songs play like a diary from the time of his wife's death. They're amazing songs and I think it's going to be the best album he's ever made. I cannot wait. I saw him at a similar show when No Flashlight came out and it's one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Considering how high they are in the Coachella poster and that they had a sub headliner billing a couple of years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they were one of the headliners. Explosions in the Sky are not at Coachella this year. I don't think they were there last year either. I wouldn't say they sub-headlined Sasquatch a couple of years ago; they played the Bigfoot stage while Girl Talk was sub-headlining. Girl Talk's fireworks ended up working well for Explosions in the Sky, but they were not a sub-headliner. (Technically, they were below a headliner, but that's not how we use the term "sub-headliner.") I would be very surprised if there were one of the Sasquatch headliners. Late night Bigfoot set would be ideal, but if they appear, 10pm Bigfoot slot is probably most likely. They could also be skipping the NW on this tour because they played two nights in both Portland and Vancouver and played Bumbershoot last summer, but I do hope they show up at Sasquatch this year! This is a great post

Your numbers are complete gibberish though. Frank Ocean would cost significantly more than Sufjan and at least in the range of Florence. He doesn't tour and has a massive fanbase. He is not only a unique get because he doesn't tour, he appeals to the core segment of attendees at festivals. Auteurs who can sell 200k albums in a week are the DREAM festival booking. Edit: Shit, he's listed ABOVE Major Lazer at Hangout. I feel like people are overreacting about this. Even if he is THE headliner it's like you said, he rarely tours. It's not inconceivable that the other two headliners are similar like Bon Iver and fleet foxes/Soundgarden or like Wilco. The numbers may be "gibberish" but the point is that they spent a lot last year, they spend a lot every year. Festivals cost money, but they dropped a day again this year so why can't they spend equally in magnitude per day that they did last year but for 2017? It costs them less, but again with reworking their lineup it's feasible that they could do better. They've sold out their pre-sale tickets, that's a good sign. They pulled Frank from social media, I still assume that's because they are going for the 'wow' factor that it will carry with the full lineup announcement. I haven't posted much the last few years but overreacting to people's guesses about how much artists cost to book was kinda my thing for years.

Let us not forget that Sasquatch/Live Nation lost money last year, likely trying to make up a deficit this year. Let us not forget that Live Nation doesn't give a shit about us and only cares about making their money back. Frank Ocean can (and will, if he is still on the lineup) headline Sasquatch. Although he costs less than say The Cure (and we all saw how THAT played out ), I don't think we can count on the other two headliners being crazy big acts. Sure, but we had Florence ($150-250,000), The Cure, Major Lazer ($300-$400,000), and our sub headliners like ASAP Rocky and Sufjan who probably bet around $100,000. They dropped Monday, this means they've got a day of finances return to them this year. Ticket prices are slightly reduced, but their surfire sellout of the premier pass is still priced the same. The point I'm trying to illustrate is that while LiveNation lost money most notably this year but they're still shelling out cash at a relatively high rate, and trying to fine tune the festival. It's easier to revive an already existing fan base with a good location like the gorge over producing something half heartedly at a reduced rate. I recognize I'm traditionally the first her to advocate the "turnaround" in their booking and the attendance, but for 2017 I'm truly hopeful. I don't know this pricing jargon all that well, but surely Frank costs a little more than $45,000-50,000. If not than our other two headliners would have to be massive or our sub headliners are the likes of chance the rapper and other names that are fringe headliners. I'm literally laughing out loud at the idea of Frank costing 50k. I have no idea how to respond to that.

you've got so many 18-15 year olds interested with artists like this (and the obvious edm they will book) that it really doesn't matter because you've appeased your masseuse. I can't go to another festival where this age group is anything other than a minority group. (Looking at u Pemby fest) Frank Ocean is a great add, but I think he pulls more of the late Gen X'ers (22-25) & older, than Millenials. I also do not think Frank Ocean is top billed at all. #3 or #4. But if he really brings out teenagers en mass, than I must be old now too. I would be baffled if someone was listed above Frank.

Pavement played one of the worst sets Sasquatch has ever seen. Nah, that was great. One of my favorite Sasquatch moments.

Seeing as they play Seattle June 1st I wouldn't count on it. Bummer too, because their Coachella webstream was pretty great. If your reasoning for not counting on it is that they are playing a show within a few days of the fest at a place close to the Gorge, your reasoning doesn't hold water. There are at least four sail bands playing in Portland that same week and weekend, and imho having a sail worthy band in the neighborhood during the fest makes it at least a 50-50 shot on being a late add. I really hope we're not about to have this argument in the year of 2016.

So it looks like you can get VIP box tickets for Monday for $70. Those include entry for the day and a seat in that fenced off area just above the floor I believe. Friday and Saturday are $90. Sunday is $200 which kind of ruins my potential plan to just buy all 4 days in box tickets for roughly the same price. Does anyone know if those box tickets come with any other perks like a separate line to get in the venue or maybe drink service? I did this one year (Wilco) and it was great. I know there are attendants in there but I don't think they get your drinks. If I remember correctly there is a private bar in there though so the wait is short.

Really? Dang. It felt like a couple years ago they were blowing up like crazy. I think the press they got was pretty disproportionate to the amount of fans they had and they put out a challenging second album. I don't really care that much, I'm going to that show haha.

It's weird seeing Shabazz so low on a lineup, but then I remember that they're not actually that big outside of Seattle. To be honest, they're not even THAT big around Seattle. They're playing a show at the Tractor next week and it's not even sold out.

after watching mr west dig himself deeper and deeper into a hole and make more of the world hate him all I can say is his new material that ive listened to really got me. ultralight beam made me melt. hopefully he comes to his senses and releases a real version of the album because apparently what he released already isnt the true full album.. Eh, what does the real version even mean anymore? He will tinker with it but what you're seeing is the album. Well, everything after wolves is bonus tracks or something. Album is great but it is clearly (and intentionally) a mess

WEll, ATDi sold out in presale apparently. This according to a TM rep at a kisok this morning at 10AM. Fucking assholes. I had three pages open at 10AM trying to buy B.C., PDX and Seattle. B.C. and PDX both were sold out. I got tix at Seattle but holy shit that is crazy. Fuck them selling all the tix at presale. I snagged some in Seattle as well. I'm excited they booked as small enough venues but they kinda underestimated demand.
