Gimme Karl Blau because I need to see him and Modest Mouse because it is inevitable. Ooo would The Microphones be possible? They did play a show last year. I don't think you should really expect Phil to do anything resembling a Microphones tour. The Anacortes show was one 30 minute rambling song where he mocked the idea of a reunion and then like 4 microphones songs. Snacks could book him and Julie Doiron though. Their show a few months back was lovely. Oh and Karl Blau should always be booked anywhere.

Janet Weiss left Sleater-Kinney and my soul feels empty. I'm on the verge of tears right now. Only way I accept this news if it leads to people finally admitting she's the preeminent drummer of this generation.

Now that we're 6 days away from the lineup release, let's check in on what we think we know about the lineup. Here's a summary of what I think we've talked about: Logical Acts Based on Tour DatesCalexico and Iron & Wine Japanese Breakfast Courtney Marie Andrews Rumored/SpeculatedKhruangbin or Mitski (because of crossover with Fuji Rock)Blood Orange Kate Tempest Less Confident Rumors/SpeculationFontaines D.C. Say Hi Let me know if I overlooked anything or you've uncovered anything else. EDIT: I removed Mitski because she's playing CHBP. I would be pretty content if this was the lineup for a day

Haha no that's my bad, I wasn't clear. They didn't sound like Die Antwoord at all. We set aside one night to go see a local show and they headlined a showcase the Grapevine was doing. All the other bands sounded like Die Antwoord and it was hilarious. I had no idea how deep their influence went. THANK GOD BECAUSE I CRIED OVER what i thought was the comparison Do you remember the names of the other bands? Were you there for Airwaves or was it just a random show? I tried to find it but no such luck We were just there on vacation. It was summer so most days we we're out adventuring until 1 am. The one night we went out in reykjavic we picked a random show to go to and that was it. It was everything I hoped for. Later that night we made friends with some locals. At one point they got really excited and quietly said "don't gawk but the most popular musician in Reykjavic just walked in." Turned out it was just a Prince impersonator that is absurdly famous in Reykjavic 😆

Are these guys big now? When I went to Iceland (2015) I caught them in a bar with a bunch of other bands ripping off Die Antwoord and just assumed they were a local Frasier. Hahahahahaha omg die Antwoord. Well at least the last time I saw them there was no die Antwoord involved. Not even close. Jesus. Die Antwoord is one of the MOST awful artists of all time. Die Antwoord is like watching Satan in a dumpster fire. FM Belfast is one of the most fun joyful live acts I've ever seen. But no they are still very local to Reykjavik. I have other theories of why they could possibly play this Frasier. Haha no that's my bad, I wasn't clear. They didn't sound like Die Antwoord at all. Hate to be a bummer on this but I'm fairly sure they're gonna cancel it this year. By this time last year they had made numerous posts about the fest pushing early bird tickets and asking for band submissions. Account is largely silent now and nothing has been announced. I'm gonna miss it so much if this is the end. It wouldn’t surprise me if they scaled back, but at the least, the Instagram account has been posting 1-2 times weekly since December. If it was dead I’d imagine it would be straight radio silence. I'd love to be wrong, I love that dumb festival. The posts are all throwbacks though and I'm pretty skeptical.

Do you remember when Upstream's lineup was announced last year? The artists I was specifically referring to were Hozier and Jade Bird. Probably Bumbershoot artists. I'm mainly hoping that MusicfestNW returns this year. Upstream started announcing in late February through mid-March IIRC. I could see Jade Bird showing up on the mainstage. Hozier would definitely be a Bumbershoot booking though. Hate to be a bummer on this but I'm fairly sure they're gonna cancel it this year. I see no incentive to post a year-end list before the year has ended. Do it for the thumbs up

New Low album is out there and it is very much going to be up this forums alley. Sounds like nothing they've ever done before

Last Saturday I saw Wooden Shjips and it was phenomenal. That is all. This scared me because I was planning to see them in Seattle next month and I thought I missed them. that's rad they came to Bellingham though.

I don't think anyone here, yourself included, would like SOB X RBE. Just fair warning if you're thinking about looking into them based on the hints, Mutt. They're wonderful and everyone here should listen to them.

WHO?: Lizzo, Phoebe Bridgers, Japanese Breakfast I'd suggest starting with these 3 from your who list. Really surprised how few people here have listened to Phoebe Bridgers. No idea how it's going to be live but her last album is incredible. I'm really excited for them. I've been on a Wolf Parade kick all weekend so I started on a thread about them the other day but got distracted. I'll finish it, I swear. Hell yeah man. Which is your favorite? Apologies To Queen Mary tends to be the one most of my friends swear by. I love Expo 86! Apologies is definitely the one with the most popular songs but At Mount Zoomer has the jams.

Yeah, the only reviewer I respect (A.A. Dowd) gave it a B, and name-dropped 2001, Solaris, and Aliens in his review, so color me tentatively excited. Update on this: Annihilation is fucking incredible and the climax is the most visually stunning sequence I've ever seen outside of 2001: A Space Odyssey. If it hasn't left theaters near you yet, SEE IT. I don't know how a movie centered around 5 diverse female protagonists is getting swept under the rug so quickly but this movie is a revelation. I can't wait to watch it again. Also the soundtrack is aces. Cosign all of this. It's better than any movie I saw last year.
