Hopefully this thread isn't redundant, but name three performers that you have seen live and can attest to as being the best of the festival. Then list when/where you saw them!
1. Caribou- Coachella 2015/ Outside Lands 2015 Dan Snaith and his band truly bring it. I only caught Our Love at Coachella but it ended up being one of the best performances I've ever seen live. Truly mind-blowing. The build-up, the lights, the drumming, everything is just perfect. You haven't truly listened to Caribou's music until you see it live, in my opinion! I would recommend saving your substances for this set, haha.
2. Disclosure- Outside Lands 2014 Seems as though most people are overexposed to Disclosure and no longer find them interesting.. The new album wasn't so great but wow, they are such a fun time live. According to setlist.fm they are likely to play: You and Me, When a Fire, White Noise, F For You and Latch from Settle. Saw them perform all of these songs at Outside Lands and was immediately turned into a fan. I actually didn't care much for electronic music until I saw this performance.
3. Alabama Shakes- Outside Lands 2012, Mondavi Center 2013, Bottlerock 2013, Coachella 2015 These songs are 100x better live than on the album. Brittany Howard's voice combined with her persona make for a special, rockin performance (not to sound cheeseball). Something about when she throws the mic stand during "Boys & Girls" gets me every time. Not to mention, I only got to see them for about 5 minutes before going to see Interpol (at Coachella) so I am really looking forward to seeing songs from the newest album performed live.

I like it.
1. Florence and the Machine. Seen her twice, once she had a fractured foot and had to stay sitting which made me sad. The second time at a stadium and there were some annoying people around that I couldn't get away from cause seats. Objectively both shows were pretty great, when she can move she runs around and interacts with the crowd and is generally great. She sounded good both times I saw her, but the live stream I watched from Coachella didn't sound great, so maybe a little hit or miss? If you like her music her show is great. If you don't like her music I don't think her show will win you over.
2. Big Grams. I saw their first ever show at Treasure Island and it was great. They were clearly very excited to be performing and that made it fun to watch. Sounded great, and mixed in a little Outkast and Phantogram which was cool.
3. Yo La Tengo. Saw them many years ago. Jammy and dark sometimes and light and goofy other times. Kinda reminded me a little of Velvet Underground during their show (not that I have ever seen Velvet underground) and they covered one of my favourite VU songs in the encore so that was pretty great.
Also +1 for the Shakes and Caribou. Both were fantastic when I saw em last year.

1. Frightened Rabbit - CHBP 2013 I camped at the mainstage all day to see the Flaming Lips and thoroughly enjoyed everything I saw. It went Odesza>Hey Marseilles>Cults>Frightened Rabbit> The Flaming Lips. At the time, I had only heard their album that they were touring for: "Pedestrian Verse" which is a great album btw; but since the show I have purchased all of their albums because of how beautiful it was. This band has lots of energy and a great sense of humor, definitely a must-see.
2. Vince Staples - I saw him with Danny Brown, Tyler the Creator, and A$AP Rocky (also very fun) and on his own at the Neptune. Very funny dude, interacts with the crowd a lot and knows how to create a fairly violent mosh pit. If you're into this sort of thing definitely check it out.
3. Jamie XX - CHBP 2015 His live show was very fun and sounded great but I can't help but think that it could've been better in the dark as I tend to feel with most electronic music acts, which is why I'm super pumped to see him hopefully in the tent this year at sasquatch, should be a blast.

I approve of this thread, although I have nothing to contribute to it other than to say I don't think contest is the word you were looking for there. Attest, maybe.

1) Titus Andronicus (The Crocodile--2015) A little bummed these guys aren't getting more love on here. They put on a terrific live show. Patrick gives it his all every time out there and they like to mix in different covers depending on where they're playing. No two set lists are the same so every time you see them, you get a new experience. Really really fun punk band to see that I'd highly recommend. Very underrated. 2) Unknown Mortal Orchestra (The Neptune--2016) Another very underrated band, these guys blew me away at the last "Little Big Show". I like there studio stuff, but they're on an entirely different level live. Arguably the tightest band I've ever seen live, each member was showcased at some point in the setlist. Ruban is a virtuoso out there and you'd be doing yourself a massive disservice not to catch them on Friday. Please find a way to at least catch a bit of their set--you won't regret it! 3) Vince Staples (Showbox SoDo--2015) I was also at the Vince Staples/Danny Brown/Tyler the Creator/A$AP Rocky show and left very impressed with Vince Staples. He had easily the least elaborate stage setup, but incredible stage presence for such a young rapper. As mentioned above, he really knows how to get the crowd into it. If not for A$AP's ridiculous stage set up that night, Vince might've out performed him overall. Definitely try to catch a bit of his set if you're into hip hop. Very funny guy and great performer. I'm excited to see where his young career goes.

1. Ty Segall (with Fuzz at Sasquatch 2015) I didn't know much about him before this set, and came across him on a pit stop before Father John Misty. Got an awful spot for FJM because Ty melted my face off and I couldn't find Bigfoot stage. He can't be missed.
2. Sufjan Stevens (June 2015 at the Paramount, July 2015 at Eaux Claires Festival) He didn't play many festival sets until the last year or so, and if it's anything like this year's Coachella performance he's moved his set away from Carrie and Lowell, which doesn't really suit the festival vibe. At Coachella he played Impossible Soul for the first time since 2011 (thanks YouTube!), so we're bound to see some rarely performed songs from his huge catalog. There are certain performers who can completely captivate and lock you in to their performance (Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Joanna Newsom, to name a few in the same vein). Sufjan is one of them.
3. Grimes (Neumos 2012, Sasquatch 2013) Grimes impressed me despite issues at both shows. She blew out her hearing at the Neumos show and had to cancel the remaining shows on her tour. At Sasquatch I heard complaints about her sound mixing, but this was at the notoriously bad Bigfoot stage so I can't blame her. Both shows were amongst the most exciting I've been too. Get up close so you can see all the work she's doing. She was at Coachella too, but her vocals were awful and you could see it irritating her. If everything's sorted out by Sasquatch I'd see her over anyone else there.
I'll second Titus Andronicus. Seen them a couple times and can vouch that they'll play one of the most energetic sets of the weekend.

I've actually only seen two acts from the lineup (which is really weird).
1. Alabama Shakes, we all know they're great.
2. The Cure (Coachella 2009) I went into Coachella that year actually saying "Ugh, I hate The Cure." But wandering over to their set and lying in the grass while they played out the festival remains one of my favorite memories. I still have not "gotten into" them at all. But if you're planning on skipping The Cure due to disinterest, I'd highly recommend checking them out at least for a while, as it's sure to be lovely.

Oooooh, I still haven't done my "Burrito Picks" for this year. Thanks for the perfect forum to do so. For those who are unfamiliar, I have been picking 2 bands on the lineup each year since 2011, and so far I have been 9/10 (Mogwai canceled in 2012). I say this as I tug on my dangus. I'm just going to do my standard 2 picks, because I can't guarantee that you're going to absolutely love more than two of my favorite artists. 1. Four Tet (Neumos 2010, Bumbershoot 2011, Bonnaroo 2013, Branx 2014) Four Tet is the one and only DJ I have ever enjoyed as much as a full band. He is a pretty big deal and I've been waiting 10 years to see him at Sasquatch. I wrote a thread on the subject: sasquatchfest.proboards.com/thread/2852/tet. 2. Caribou (Chop Suey 2008, Sasquatch 2010, Chop Suey 2010, Roseland 2015, Showbox 2015, Showbox 2015) If the cutoff for casual fans is 3 shows, then what is 6 shows? A fucking incredible live band. This is the kind of shit that brings the whole family together. For reference, Burrito Picks of previous Sasquatches: 2011: Deerhunter, Robyn 2012: Mogwai, Tenacious D 2013: Sigur Ros, Akron/Family 2014: Panda Bear, Mogwai 2015: Little Dragon, Fuzz

If everything's sorted out by Sasquatch I'd see her over anyone else there. Yeah this was kind of sad to watch. I think her monitors weren't working cause she asked to have em turned up like 4 times. At the end of the set after she walked off stage her mic was still turned on and you could hear her say "well that was fucked... Fuck". Hopefully they do better at sasquatch, and if they relegate her to the fucking Bigfoot again I'm going to be pissed.

For some reason, haven't fully been able to get into it. Maybe it's something you have to see live to fully get it?

(not to keep harping on the thread title, but I think 'Vouch' is the most appropriate word in this context ) Great idea for discussion topic! 1) M83 (The End Deck ThE Hall Ball, Key Arena, 2013) I actually got into M83 after seeing and totally loving the epic snowboarding movie, 'The Art of Flight'. They featured a few M83 tracks, notably Outro, and Intro. It was the perfect score for that picture! Here's the Trailer with Outro: m.youtube.com/watch?v=YkbthU3W_AYThe set at Key Arena was as incredibly energized and as entertaining as could be expected as mid-ticket semi-undercard act in the cavernous, dank arena on a Tuesday afternoon in Seattle in December. Band was well-rehearsed and certainly ambitious beyond this venue to which were constrained! High-energy and earnest, they belted out one sweeping French-electo-synth-pop tune after another into the cold concrete dome. Loved it! Not sure about this new album, but I'm confident they will deliver a stand-out Performance at Sasquatch! 2) Purity Ring (Showbox SoDo June 2015) I coerced my wife to go on a Tuesday evening for a spontaneous night out. Got in minor fender bender on way down there by some hit and run asshole. Then we didn't have tickets and to my surprise none were being scalped... Searched for over an hour and had given up when we miraculously scored a pair (at highway robbery pricing but obviously I wasn't turning it down after all rigmarole just getting to this point) And the show itself?! Ultimately fulfilling. Sound was beautiful (especially for notoriously crumby SoDo venue) well-constructed songs that both soar and feel intimate. The duo really sought to connect with audience throughout show. Definitely had visuals, hooks, presence, and chops of a modestly well-known act on way to breaking big(ger), which they appear to be now. Another act sure to deliver at the Festival. 3) Houndmouth. (Red Rocks, August 2014) We were in Colorado to see family and timed our visit to catch one of our Favorites, 'The Head and The Heart' play Red Rocks. Houndmouth opened the billing (followed by a disappointing set by Iron & Wine, then a spectacular THATH performance). I should note the power had gone out at the amphitheatre for four hours prior to show causing delays and talk of cancellation. So after a super- extended tailgating session, followed by a chaotic mass crowd entry into the venue an up the terrace, the saused-up fans weren't sure quite what to expect. But soon everyone was swept-up by the energy, harmony, song-writing, and zeal of this Americana act we knew next to nothing about called Houndmouth: Just a terrific heart-felt performance in a majestic setting. I think you might be safe to copy/paste that sentiment and apply it to their upcoming set at Sasquatch!

Allen Stone (poopershoot 2013, Paramount 2015) A NW native. While his recorded music might not tickle your fancy seeing this guy play live with a 9-12 piece band behind him is always absolutely phenomenal. His live performances feature jazzy improv, strong vocal presence, and the most important thing; a strong big band backbone everyone grooves the fuck out to; all the horns and rhythm section, it is always packaged really well. This will be one of the realest dance parties, I wouldn't sleep on it. Also don't miss his cover of Bob Marley's 'Is This Love'. Allen is great at controlling a crowd and watching this 6'5" giant and his goofy dance moves will sure to get your feet shufflin'.
Thunderpussy (Sasquatch 2015) You can take Florence's boomy voice, mix it into a local NW band with all female members, kindle a romantic relationship between the lead guitarist and singer, sprinkle a little bit of gold and Led Zepplin balls (that is testicles) and you have yourself a Thunderpussy. Really recommend these gals, they put on a hell of a set that I happened to be walking by and stayed for it and fell in love. They have an awesome raw bluesy/old school rock vibe live.
Saint Motel (Chop Suey 2013) This was before 'My Type' came out and I was sharing the stage with them and Lydia and a couple others and their set actually overshadowed Lydia's by a long shot. They had a cool stage setup and visuals that were unique coming out of old TV sets. I feel like they don't get much of a chance because of their annoying overplayed single, IMO it is as vain as Midnight City. These guys can put on a pretty damn groovy show that features great vocals and a variety of differently hued dancey songs. Definitely something to check out if no one else is playing at the same time & they play all their instruments live. Very nice people too!

I've been loving these guys in my research, but it is true that the female singer has left the band? She's the one whose voice really stands out as something special to me! (I suppose I could do literally one minute of Internet research but haaaarrrrd)
