Favorite part of the night- some dudebro comes walking out of Fatty's (Typhoon's trumpeteers were all right by Fatty's exit) and looked at the band and said, "Sweet drum circle guys" and shook his head and laughed to his friend's as if he had made some sort of joke. That's actually pretty funny.

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I Wicked good. One of the few albums that became one of my favorites after the first listen. The list is very short.

wow, Mike o'Malley had hair once? Dude was so unlikeable. How the hell did he have a career after GUTS? Whoa. Had no idea the guy from Yes, Dear (I'm a little embarrassed I knew the name of that) and the guy from Guts were the same person? Looks like he in fact DIDN'T have a career after Guts... His "The Rick" commercials on ESPN about ten years ago were pretty cool.

Update, we have 9 of the 12 spots filled so far. Cbats went from a maybe to a definite (nice team name), and Rusty was added (nicer team name), which means one of the original 8 posted in the last page hasn't signed up yet.
So when they sign up, we'll still have two spots open if anyone wants to throw their hat in the rink. I'm sure I8 would play if he ever comes back, but he hasn't been around since we've been talking about this. Anyone else interested?

I've been decimated by injuries, stamper-style. A-Rod, Reyes, Putz...others. But it's anyone's game, really, except Cat. Where's that cat been by the way? I wouldn't say it's anyone's game. The thing about rotisserie is you have to be strong in every category. Gibbons gained 10 points in less than a week, but to gain that many, you have to be barely behind multiple teams in several categories, which means he is now barely ahead of each of those teams. That makes it just as likely he'll lose multiple points over the next couple days if he doesn't stay hot. By comparison, I've maintained about the same point totals over the last couple weeks, even though my entire team has been slumping. I was so solidified in several categories, like ERA and WHIP, that even though my pitchers are getting absolutely bombed over the past couple weeks, I haven't lost points. Based on me having the fewest starts in the league, it's safe to say I'll eventually gain four or five points combined in Strikeouts and Wins, while likely maintaining my lead in ERA and Saves. I'm falling back in the pack in WHIP finally, but I still have the top two drafted pitchers, so it should get better. Take the Runs column for example. If you take away 50 runs, I lose 1 point. If you add 50 runs, I gain 5 points. It is that type of placement that leads me to believe I still am more than the team to beat, and it's not just because I'm in first. 80 points is about the lowest total I'll end up with, unless my pitchers continue to get hurt.

It warms my heart to know that Know listens to (and I assume enjoys) that album. I think I downloaded this album because of a discussion the two of you had here. I've had it on my device for months, but never got around to listening to it. I had just finished Braids, and it was pretty close alphabetically, so I gave it a spin. I liked it.

Pretty obscure selection Brad. My provider doesn't have it. Since 99% of the music I listen to is on my device, mostly at work and away from home, I'm going to have to try to find time to grooveshark this. It will be a couple weeks.
Funny thing so far:
Canadians: FUCK YES! Americans: Chirp Chirp

Is there something not very attractive about the camping there? Or is it simply due to the fact that there are so many nearby hotels, especially compared to 'Squatch? Both. Camping kinda sucks mainly because the temperatures generally break 100 F (38 C) and they pack you in more tightly than other festivals. also there are plenty of places to stay in the nearby towns. My friends rent a condo every year and we just turn it into a crash pad for like a dozen people and bike 15 minutes to the festival. It gives us a shower, kitchen, and AC, which are all welcome in the middle of the desert. I understand why people would want to stay at a hotel/condo/motel/house, but it's not like those places are a couple blocks. It's not exactly easy getting a cab late at night, Pea can attest, so you might end up walking for 45 minutes or more. The best part about the campground is how close it is to the venue. I was about an eight minute walk from the front gate. It was nice running back to camp for a quick bite to eat and drinks. There is also a carnivalistic party that goes on all night, which you miss heading straight to the hotel. The campground is a fun place to wander for hours. The tent does get too hot to sleep around 8am, then again it was 10 degrees hotter than usual this year, and most of April was below 90 degrees (minus the three days of the festival). And you aren't packed in too tightly, I had a lot more space at Coachella this year than Sasuatch 2010. And they aren't really packing you in tight, your camping spot is measured and marked, so you know exactly how much space you will have before you get there. Also, the thousands of bros who attend Coachella to get laid all stay in hotels, so they can shower and do their hair before arriving at the festival. Therefore, the campground is mostly bro-free.

I wish I knew binary well enough to answer this in code, but yes, I'll be there. I broke my rape charges rule and bought my ticket the second it went on sale. I wasn't going to risk this selling out, and I won't be near the venue to avoid the rape charges for another week. 11.11.11. Nice live version of Couleurs, that is easily my second favorite M83 song. His cross between indie and EDM is the EDM I enjoy the most, like the Knife. This is the album version which is longer, and more kick ass if you have the video off. www.youtube.com/watch?v=87y7Jjt0OKQMy favorite M83 song is "Cyborg." I didn't find it on youtube. Ok, you scared me enough to buy my tickets now. I only ended up paying about $18.50 per ticket though, were your rape charges much more than mine? I'm way excited for this show. I'll be meeting a friend who lives in Eugene and we'll probably turn it into an "Explore Portland" weekend since it's on a Friday. The only other time I've seen them was at Sasquatch '09 and that set was broken up due to me running between the main stage and the Wookie. I paid $24.19 for a $16 ticket, so the rape fee was $8.19. I was at most of M83 at Sasquatch, but I showed up late, and had one of those downer festival moments where I was exhausted. I've been wanting to see him in a small venue every since, where I can actually see the show (I was sitting off to the side at Sasquatch).

So where would the closest place to fly into be for Coachella? Roadtripping it would pretty much entirely be out of the question for me. Hrnk. Need to do some logistics before I commit to anything. Check out the first post in this thread, I posted about as much logistically as we know right now, including airport information. And yes, you should definitely come if you have a cash wad coming soon.

Thanks for the in depth reply Lump. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I felt the same thing about the crowd at their Coachella show, the bros around me didn't hear their favorites from MPP, therefore it sucked. I heard more than one near me apologizing to their friends for how terrible the show was, but it was one of my favorite live experiences in a long time. To think, Animal Collective is now the band all the indie kids hate because they are too weird? Hilarious. I agree with what was said earlier by Drew, MPP gave them a new audience, but that is not the band they are, at all.
I got as close as I could at Coachella, but they played between Mumford and Sons and the Arcade Fire, so I'm not sure how I could have beat too many radio freaks to the front. However, from where I was, I also saw Panda drumming the entire show (and singing), but I thought for sure he played the keys with his off hand a couple times? Did you not see that (I know you had a better view)?
Agreed, Geologist is the backbone of their "new" sound, popular even, and Deacon added a very AC/DC old skool feel to their performance, but I still dig the hell out of everything Avey does. I'm guessing their cheezy second grade art school trippy visuals were still being displayed on each side of the stage, like they were at Coachella?

I drove past Red Rocks when I was 12 and therefore unable to comprehend or even care about what it was. FUCK. Anyway, upon hearing the new M83 track today I've decided I will have no choice but to catch them on their upcoming tour. Any of you Oregonians planning on catching this one? I "heard" it was the weekend of the Superbowl. Even non-football fans get together with their friends to watch the commercials that weekend. Plus, who wants to get married in early February?
