haha no I don't get upset over things too easily, and I wouldn't take offense to it because a lot of people already assume that just because I'm from utah so I'm used to it.

I was in Spain last year, a week after Primavera, they still had posters up everywhere. But than I realized that I didn't care for Barcelona that much and probably wouldn't have enjoyed the fest as much. Who the fuck are you? "I can't tolerate Barcelona, it's so... provincial." It didn't really have that huge of a draw for me. It's not that I don't like big cities/nightlife/etc., but I don't know compared to Madrid, Athens, and Moscow, it just didn't appeal to me.

This list is definitely missing the "new discovery" factor that previous years had, though. That said I've never even heard of Pink Martini, Old 97's, and Archers of loaf (among the obvious lower tier bands). Pink Martini have been around for quite some time they are more of a cuban/brazillian type band. I would probably go see them if there weren't conflicts. old 97's have been around for awhile crazy enough I've seen a lot of these bands which is rare for me. my draw are the flaming lips (i've yet to see them) dfa1979, noah and the whale (they've never come here), the radio dept, stornoway, wolf parade, local natives, beach house, yeasayer, and the antlers

God, sorry Sasquatch, but I fucking wish I lived in Spain sometimes. They should've just renamed last year's Prima lineup as "Lumpy's Dream Lineup" I was in Spain last year, a week after Primavera, they still had posters up everywhere. But than I realized that I didn't care for Barcelona that much and probably wouldn't have enjoyed the fest as much.

Currently listening to the new DeVotchKa album. Verdict? I'm only four songs in, and I'm liking it so far. However I still don't think I'll enjoy any DeVotchKa album like I do Una Volta and How it Ends. edit: okay it's good but I don't think it will ever be my favorite DeVotchKa album.

Man I would rather not see Modest Mouse at a festival. They played for free last year in Salt Lake, and 40,000 people showed up. My friend left the crowd during the middle and told me she was going to the back. The back was literally the end of the park.

Oh yeah. I laugh to because so many people come to the SFF and buy the credential passes. If your smart, you can see almost any movie you want, by just getting in the wait list line. If you get the the music cafe as they are opening, you don't have to have festival credentials either.
I did miss a screening of a film we wanted to see tonight (well we were too far back in the wait list line and they ran out of room in the theater) but it was worth it because once again I saw St Vincent for free.

It may seem stupid but the currency watch is actually very important. I remember last I bought my tickets early and the dollar was like 0.84 US and then after the lineup it went to almost par. 16% change in price is fairly significant when you have limited funds. I had no idea Americans didn't keep track of that shit. I keep track of currency exchanges if I need to (meaning if I'm going to another country etc.) otherwise, I don't really bother. For the most part I can expect the Euro to be worth more than a dollar, canada varies and elsewhere it can be a pretty good exchange rate.

I just saw St Vincent for free today. Oh my it was amazing. So much better live than recorded. Gotta love Sundance Film Festival and the music cafe.

Wouldn't be worth it to buy a ticket now, you can't buy the combo music/ski pass.

Man I'd love it if The Lonely Forest played Sasquatch too, however I'll be seeing them in April regardless so it wouldn't be too big of a letdown.

I lived in Provo for a couple years. SLC is like an oasis of culture in that state. Many of the greatest shows I've seen were in Salt Lake City. Yeah I refuse to live in Provo. They do have a nice little local music scene down in Provo now (which I'll occasionally venture down for shows), but I definitely prefer Salt Lake, they do get some great shows here, and I love the free concert series they do in the summer as well (although a free modest mouse concert last year was a bit insane). One of my friends who went to school at BYU hated living in Provo. She moved up to Salt Lake for her last semester, and even though she hated the drive everyday, it made her experience here much more enjoyable.

stickfigures I know a few people who would jizz in their pants if DFA1979 was there.. Are you doing Coachella to see them?? If I go to Coachella, I wouldn't have the money to go to Sasquatch. Plus now that my little sister is in WA I'd probably just extend my vacation to spend time with her (most likely after Sasquatch)

How can you hate Mother Mother?? I guess if you only saw them at the Boom I can't blame you. Their sound was really off. Saw them open for Matt Good, and the girls were just as shrill and annoying there. I can't stand them because every song sounds like it has a chorus of shrill little kids, which drives me up the wall. I hated Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life for the same reason. That and the fact that Mother Mother are overplayed to the point where I've almost completely stopped listening to Sonic just because of their hardon for that band. Too me it seems weird that Mother Mother are overplayed, but I forget they are more popular in Canada. One of my friends has heard that C&C are overplayed there as well is this true?

Ooh, we got one in SLC now. How's that treat you? It treats me well. I love it here. I really love the mountains, and every time I leave the state I'm reminded of how much I do love the mountains and the city in general. I wish it wasn't such an conservative state sometimes, or that more people would at least be accepting of certain things.

I'm one of these lurkers considering how many post I have, and how long I've been a member. It's actually a bit easier now to get on here since I have a decent computer and can take it to my classes with me. What is your hipster kitty saying? It's too small to read underground is such an overused term I'm subterranean now
