Those animal collective dates are from last year i think. No, I'm quite sure they are for 2009, they just haven't been officially announced yet. It comes from the AC fansite Collected Animals, go check it out: animalcollectin.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=4348

i will be beyond pissed if No Doubt are one of the headliners.
I came across these supposedly yet to be announced Animal Collective tour dates. If these are in fact true, it makes a Sasquatch appearance much more likely than I first anticipated.
05/27: Animal Collective at the Henry Miller Library, Big Sur 05/29: Animal Collective at The Wiltern, Los Angeles

I'd say the Avett Brothers are pretty much a lock. I still think DMB is a possibility to headline a night even though I know they usually play a 3 night stand at the Gorge in the summer. They look to be heading west around the time of Sasquatch. They are also playing the New Orleans Jazz Fest.
Not to be a downer, but I thought I'd also throw out a few names of bands/artists who likely WON'T be at Sasquatch:
ATP The Fan's Strike Back - May 8-10 - Minehead, UK - Beirut - Spiritualized - The Cave Singers - Retribution Gospel Choir - HEALTH - Shearwater - The Acorn - Pink Mountaintops
The Breeders ATP Festival - May 15-17 - Minehead, UK - The Breeders - Bon Iver - Foals - Teenage Fanclub - Holy Fuck - Kimya Dawson - Pit Er Pat - Deerhunter - Gang of Four - CSS - The Soft Pack (more famously known as the Muslims)
Primavera Sound Festival - May 28-30 - Barcelona, Spain - My Bloody Valentine - Spiritualized - Damien Jurado - The Soft Pack - Gang Gang Dance
Pinkpop Festival - May 30-June 1 - The Netherlands - Depeche Mode - The Kooks - Placebo
Too bad, there are a lot of quality bands there. That being said, there have been some bands that played both Sasquatch and Primavera so any of them are technically possible, just not likely.

What about Titus Andronicus Why? Silver Jews Hold Steady She and Him (or M. Ward) Animal Collective Beastie Boys comeback Grizzly Bear Department of Eagles (or) Destroyer (main stage) R.E.M. again Hey what do you think? Titus Andronicus - would be awesome. they're touring with Los Campesinos! right now, but there are no Westcoast dates so its a possibility. The Hold Steady - I think they have played too many shows (Sasquatch 2007, Capitol Hill Block Party '08, and 2 Seattle shows a couple months ago) to warrant another appearance. But apparently they are playing Coachella so you never know. She and Him - seems unlikely, they don't seem to be touring. But I believe M. Ward has a new album out this year so he's a definite possibility. Animal Collective - I really hope so! Merriweather Post Pavilion has been on repeat for the past few days. Beastie Boys - NO! Grizzly Bear / Department of Eagles - Grizzly Bear's new album comes out this summer, so Dept. of Eagles may not be touring. I figure one of these bands will be hitting the festival circuit. Destroyer - Not likely. But Swan Lake (Dan Bejar's other other band) has a new album coming out, so that's a possibility. I think we could see a couple members of the New Pornos back again with their other respective projects.

Sun Kil Moon (aka Mark Kozalek) has been confirmed via his website. Score one point for me!
I'd also love to see Animal Collective at Sasquatch!, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

It still pretty early, but I think it's about time we get the rumour mill churning... I think its safe to assume that the festival will take place between May 23rd-25th (hopefully it will be 3 days again this year) Some of my early predictions (based on tour dates, new album releases, other festivals) include: - Kings of Leon - Broken Social Scene - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Franz Ferdinand - The Black Keys (or a Dan Auerbach solo set) - The Decemberists - The Avett Brothers - The Airbourne Toxic Event - Thievery Corportation - Ryan Adams & the Cardinals - The Thermals - Flogging Molly - Gomez - Girl Talk - Jose Gonzalez - Jay Reatard - Black Kids - We Are Scientists - Of Montreal - Asobi Seksu - Late of the Pier - St. Vincent - Cut Copy - N.A.S.A. - Heartless Bastards - The Black Lips - The Von Bondies - Friendly Fires - Mark Kozalek - Grizzly Bear / Department of Eagles - A.C. Newman - Immaculate Machine - Swan Lake - Dan Deacon - Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Andrew Bird - Lady Sovreign - Wooden Shjips - Ra Ra Riot - J. Tillman (no Fleet foxes) - The Bird and the Bee - Loney, Dear - Little Joy - Ben Kweller - Ben Lee - Handsome Furs - The Lonely Island (the FOTC of 2009, more likely than Tenacious D) - Abe Vigoda - The Living Things - Throw Me the Statue - MSTRKRFT - Great Lake Swimmers - Say Hi - Vetiver - Grand Archives - Vince Mira - Neko Case (hopefully not again) - The Boy Least Likely To - The Whip - Obits - Mexican Institute of Sound - Mirah - The Shaky Hands - The Blakes - Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground - Tim Hecker
Potential Headliners: Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, The Killers, Neil Young, RADIOHEAD (kidding)
I also have a hunch that the Comedy Tent will be replaced with a Dance Tent this year. Hopefully it will be a much larger tent.
Keep in mind this is just me throwing out names of bands that are either touring North America this Spring/Summer or bands that have albums coming out soon. I have also tried to compensate by not including bands who have Seattle shows announced close to Sasquatch.
OK. Let the speculation begin!

Wait... Where did you see Kings of Leon confrimed apeman? The website isn't up and KOL's website doesn't say anything. By the way, I was just on the sasquatch website and on their music player they had tenacious D playing? What does this mean.......... KOL isn't officially confirmed. But they seem very likely. sasquatchmusicfestival.blogspot.com/2009/01/first-sasquatch-music-festival-2009.htmlThere's the rumour starter there. As for the Tenacious D thing. I don't think it means anything. The song is just about a sasquatch. But it would be awesome if they did play this year!

WOW, Thank you Canadians for not being too cool for school! You're Welcome! I had camping neighbours from Olympia, Portland, California, and Omaha and they were all awesome. On behalf of us Canadians I want to thank all the Americans for making us feel so welcome at the Gorge. I honestly did not want to leave yesterday! For anyone who has gone through the Peace Arch Border Crossing I believe the monument states: "Canada and U.S.A: Brothers From Another Mother"

Top 5 1. Flaming Lips 2. The National 3. Okkervil River (surprised no one has mentioned them yet!) 4. Flight of the Conchords 5. Yeasayer (recently fell in love w/ them) Honourable mention: Beirut, The Kooks (although very disappointed in their new album), REM, Built to Spill, The Cure Terrible Trio 1. OZOMATLI (will be 7 people watching that set) 2. Newton Faulkner (supposedly like Jack Johnson with dreads?!?) 3. Dyme Def (let's be honest here...) Top 5 performances: 1. Flaming Lips!!!: I have never been so happy in my entire life 2. The National: It took us forever to get in on Saturday so I was extremely disappointed that I thought I had missed 1/2 of their set. Then to my surprise Fleet Foxes are on stage. Later that night the Yeti stage was packed. After a hilarious intro from Dwight the National were everything I had hoped for and much more. I've never seen an encore on the Yeti stage before it was incredible! 3. The Kooks: The most fun set of the weekend. We danced and sang from start to end. Wish they hadn't started so late though. 4. Jamie Lidell: Also so much fun. Only caught the first few songs becasue we wanted to head down for TMV, but I'm really glad I saw what I did. 5. Rodrigo Y Gabriela: The biggest surprise of the weekend for myself (and i'm sure a lot of other people). So amazingly talented. Honourable Mentions: Mates of State, The Blakes, The Hives Well I obviously didn't see any of my bottom 3. I was a little dissappointed in R.E.M. but my expectations were high. We decided to leave after about 10 songs because we were wet and exhaused and almost every song thus far had been from Accellerate. The Cure were good but I wish they had played Friday I'm In Love, Lovecats, and Close To Me. We thought for sure by the 3rd encore we hear one of those songs. I was also a little dissappointed with Built to Spill (they are great musicians but definitely didn't win any fans with their showmanship). I kind of felt the same way about New Pornos, but it was good so see them all together. Overall I give Sasquatch 2008 an A+++++++++++

Best Sasquatch EVER! Had such an incredible weekend.
I now have a serious case of post-Sasquatch depression.

Just 2 chicks in and among all the good 'ol commoners. Have to live it up right, right? "Regular folks camping" is the way to go to get the full Sasquatch experience. Pssh, who needs to shower every 3 days? Who needs air-conidtioned shuttle service? Not this guy. I'd much rather stumble back to the campsite at 1:00am alongside 15,000 complete strangers who are just as stoked about just seeing R.E.M, The Cure, or Flaming Lips, as I am. Then back to the campsite to chill, have a couple beer and talk about the day that was (of course while respectfully using our inside voices outside once the 2:00am quiet time hits). I can sleep when I'm 40...

FYI, I've got some cool Sasquatch! coverage plans up my sleeve too. I don't want to let the cat completely out of the bag, but I will say my coverage plans include dancing, and the Flaming Lips. See you guys at the Gorge! Anyone who has seen the Flaming Lips live before should know what you are talking about. That's what I call come in-depth reporting! I'm very jealous of you.

You can bring in as much food as you want (within reason), as long as it is in a clear plastic bag. You can bring in as much sealed bottled water as you can fit. I assume you can only bring in whatever fits in your backpack (don't walk up to the line carrying a flat).
Its all listed very clearly on the Sasquatch festival website...

Extended forecast now calls for rain Sunday. Really? This site says: Sat - High 21°C (70°F) (sorry i'm Canadian, Farenheit is dumb) Cloudy 20% chance of rain Sun - High 24° C (75°F) Cloudy 10% chance of rain www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USWA0159?from=hrly_topnav_undeclaredSounds decent. Not super hot, not too cold. Clouds are nice when you are outside all day. It seems about 10° warmer down near the stage. P.S. I'm just happy its not this weekend. 37°C (98°F) on saturday! 33°C (92°F) on sunday!

Man the last 2 years I've seriously considered making the trip down to Bumbershoot (especially last year with Kings of Leon and BRMC). But Labour Day weekend is not the ideal time. Everywhere is crazy busy. If the Black Keys, Beck, The Walkmen, and Band of Horses are all on the same day I will have to journey down for that day for sure.

There should be plenty of ice around to keep those drinks flowing. It just might cost you $5 for a bag of frozen water from the convenience store. I think they might actually have an ice machine (not available to the public, but to create the ice that is sold).

While it is nice to have all the food stalls and beer garden right there by the Wookie Stage, it does kind of make sense given (if my memory serves me correctly) that there is WAY more space up in the meadow area. IMO the Wookie stage has a much stronger line-up than past years (espeically on Sunday), so maybe they figure they will need more space.

I totally agree that many of the songs sound similar, at least in terms of their foundation. The first 5 or 6 tracks all have the same tempo and each gradually incorporate layers of electronics and beats as the songs progress. Even the vocals and lyrics don't have the same urgency as previous albums. At times it just sounds like they are trying too hard.
I sure do sound like a downer for someone who is in fact so excited for the fest to begin! I've also been ragging on new albums by the Kooks (Konk), Flight of the Conchords (S/T), the Hives (Black + White Album), and Mars Volta (The Bedlam in Goliath) for all sucking (I could elaborate, but why bother?). These are all bands who I've liked for a long time and was looking forward to seeing. That being said, I will still watch (and hopefully enjoy), all of the afforementioned bands, but some of the excitement has faded.
But the beauty of Sasquatch is that there are a whole whack of other bands (some new, some old) that I am totally stoked to check out, and that actually have awesome new albums out (see R.E.M., Jamie Liddell, Stephen Malkmus, The Morning Benders, Yeasayer.)
