While Tom Petty would be flat out amazing as a headliner, as someone else pointed out, he's the type of act that moreso than even Pearl Jam doesn't need to be part of a festival, and did fantastic at the Gorge last time he was through. Plus, if they scored both Dylan and Petty, they wouldn't try to presell the festival with Pavement, I don't think. Nothing against them (not really my think, but whatever) but if you're trying to sell tickets and leak a bit, you leak big, if that makes sense.

I'd really say sasquatch doesn't have a "vibe" - more than most other festivals it's just a random smattering of bands from across the board. Really? I think it has a indie-rock feel for sure with an emphasis on PNW bands. Most bands on the line-up are guitar driven indie rock, and then they add in a few hip-hop acts, some electronic acts, and a little international flair. Just my 2cents. While I do see your point, looking at some of the past bands, even in recent years, for headliners I don't think they hold to such restrictions. The Beastie Boys, NIN, Jane's Addiction, The Cure, REM (well I guess REM could fall into your description a bit), the Flaming Lips. I could go either way on KoL or Ben Harper, but I think when it comes to headliners, they'll go for whatever suits them. While Soundgarden would certainly fit that description, being a PNW band, most of the other rumored headliners such as LCD Soundsystem and Gorillaz (not that any of us really think they will be) and Smashing Pumpkins do not. (I still don't think they'll be there, but if Rise Against is playing I'll definitely come out for at least a day)

Isn't the Stranger pulling their info from the blog this board is nominally for? If not, basically the message I've been getting is:
Sasquatch wants them. They aren't confirmed yet, but that doesn't mean they won't be. That could translate into them being a late addition and someone getting pooped as a headliner, or that weird ass Friday thing, or something else entirely.
Part of the problem re: Soundgarden is despite Chris Cornell saying he was getting the band back together, they haven't really figured their shit out yet.

I am infinitely jealous. That's amazing. And something you'd never see happen in Seattle either

Rise Against just added another festival date stateside, this time Rock on the Range in Ohio. They're doing Bonnarroo as well, but a bunch of European festivals, with that in the middle, so at least three plane flights hauling all their gear around (from the states to Denmark, then from Germany to Tennessee, then Tennessee to Sweden) - given that they're doing a load of festivals, that right now they have about a 9 day gap in their schedule, and they haven't played the area since July..I guess it's possible, certainly more likely than before. Apparently they're also doing Vive Latino in April, so another festival. If they don't do Sasquatch I really think Bumbershoot might be their destination over here. If they did play, do yall see them headlining?

So, the End does this thing, discovery of the day with harms, right? Tonight, he had on that god awful Ruby Soho cover by Vampire weekend. Not important.
What was important is that he said Vampire Weekend is announcing a show in Seattle sometime next week. Maybe that means Sasquatch, maybe that means a separate date, maybe both, I don't know.

Also keep in mind ticket prices went up. It's possible they went up based on the size of one or even 2 of the unannounced headliners. Of course it's entirely possible they went up based only on inflation prices. I'm still stumped, but I love a good guessing game. it's what, 20 dollars difference, or is it more? I've forgotten. 20 bucks is about 7 a day, that's not abnormal in year to year jumps unfortunately

It's not that great. Also, their cover of Ruby Soho makes children weep

I disagree, I think the chance of a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden show at Bumbershoot is highly likely... Actually I wouldn't be surprised if they each headlined a day at Bumbershoot. This is Bumbershoot's 40th anniversary, I think they are gonna go big and that could mean local acts... plus Soundgarden is a reunion and it's coming up on Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary. ;D I sure hope you're right - but with the festival only being 3 days again this year I can't see them having two, very similar musically acts. If it was 4 days, though!

I do think it's kind of awesome, and a credit to Sasquatch, that we have this pool of Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, LCD Soundsystem, Jack Johnson, and whoever else to fill the other two headlining spots (assuming Pavement headlines) and yet we have absolutely no idea, no matter what anyone says, of which two it's gonna be. MMJ feels like a choice out of left field - where's that coming from? And I'd say that Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, LCD, MMJ and our favorite Jack Johnson are the most likely out of the bands listed to be a headliner. Everything I've heard would lead me to believe that you will not see a band in heavy rotation on The End close out any stage this year, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'd have loved to see KoL headline and might just go to Bonnaroo to see them again. Vampire Weekend headlining/sub headlining/wherever depends on when they got booked - if it was before their hit album, it's very possible they won't be as high as some might think, for example. I believe they actually played before Phoenix at one of the radio station holiday shows, so there you go. chances of a soundgarden/pj bumbershoot combo are slim to none, I'm afraid, although that would be absolute gold sasquatchmusicfestival.blogspot.com is the blog address you want, I believe (I am being lazy and not quoting)

I really don't see the Beasties being there...not because they've played before, but just because it seems so...I don't know, out of the blue I guess

If you look at other bands who have headlined, there are other bands who are capable of doing the same, if they haven't already. Nine Inch Nails seems to be a band of that caliber. And further, Pearl Jam is perpetually rumored as a Sasquatch band (for obvious reasons) but they've done the Gorge themselves at times. everything I said applies to Pearl Jam x10 and you're crazy if you think NIN could headline the gorge on their own. On an odd note, when we were talking about Puscifer/Tool/APC, I decided to look up old APC tour dates. They opened for someone at the Gorge in like 01 or 03. It was NIN. Who couldn't headline on their own

Well someone needed to since you didn't Ugh@Faith No More. I think Mike Patton is an overly cocky, full of himself, arrogant douche. Granted, I only like faith no more out of his projects, but I've seen him live independently and as part of Tomahawk (he seemed amazed that most of the sold out arena was there to see Tool, not some side project) and haven't liked a thing I heard, and his attitude towards the crowd and fans left a bad taste in my mouth. There was also that interview he was doing while Wolfmother played in the background, and he was very condescending towards them, as if he's some sort of higher authority. Just don't like the guy.

Yeah, Phoenix's show at the Showbox was pretty great, but with the size of a band they are and on their award success I'd say them showing back up is likely, especially if they tour the general vicinity, which they've also played in the last couple weeks or so. so late/close wookie or early evening mainstage? I don't know why they aren't just confirmed, because they have been everywhere in the US lately. Probably at the request of the festival. I know bands will hold off on announcing dates if a radiostation or event asks them to. And yeah, I'd say if they don't close wookie one night they'll be about middle of the day mainstage. I'm hoping for wookie, cuz mainstage in a real PITA

Here are a few bands to add to the rumors... On tour with Nada Surf Josiah Wolf The Donkeys On tour with Why? Telekinesis I've never heard of any of these supporting bands, so if they're playing, I am assuming they'd be on the Yeti stage. Josiah Wolf is the drummer of Why? just FYI And Telekinesis is a Seattle band (well it's one guy who has a touring band) so there's a half decent chance they'll play regardless

I'm pretty sure that MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Nada Surf will all be playing.
I talked to someone at one of the radio stations, and they said of Soundgarden, Them Crooked Vultures and those bands, we'll get 3 of 5, to the best of their knowledge (and Soundgarden is highly unlikely, or certainly not confirmed, and I've heard that TCV won't be there either, although I'm less sure about that)
