am i the only one who thinks explosions in the sky would be bad fucking ass as a headliner? Sure nobody knows them and they arent that big but shit theyre eons better than pavement they put on a damn good show last year Nobody knows them? Did you just learn of this band yesterday? Maybe you didn't seem to notice that #1) EiTS already played last year (which more people were watching than Ben Harper), and #2) They are not even remotely on tour. . . the only show that they have scheduled is the ATP show in September. Niiiice first post, bro. And while they are certainly known, they aren't headliner level, not when people are talking about Pavement and LCD Soundsystem being secondary headliners.

Well, come on, it's not like the entire Sasquatch contingent is going to be dutifully refreshing twitter every ten seconds and making the decision in the two hour grace period they have to know both the lineup and the tickets. Midnight Pacific time, though, right? Hahaha yes.

Yeah, I've got good feelings about Nada Surf, Vampire Weekend, Local Natives, Girls, Soundgarden, MGMT, The National, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, YACHT, and Neko Case. Funny. I've got a better feeling about these bands though: Pavement, Neon Indian, Vetiver, Wale, Morning Teleportation, Miike Snow, Why?, Cymbals Eat Guitars. These lists seem so familiar....

Oh and one we all seem to really want - Arcade Fire. It's been brought up in this thread or headliners that their availability is now listed as August/September 2010. But back in October of 2009, it was TBA ( stereogum.com/archives/let_the_arcade_fire_2010_rumor_mill_begin_097331.html ) and in December it was new album, spring tour, with festivals ( www.billboard.com/news/arcade-fire-album-live-shows-coming-in-spring-1004050192.story#/news/arcade-fire-album-live-shows-coming-in-spring-1004050192.story ). We're not even into Spring yet, so I wonder if something's yet coming? I mean, the reason they may have a different message for their booking is because they are already booked as much as they want to be the first half of the year. And as far as "festivals" go, well Lolla isn't out yet, but they aren't on Bonnaroo or Coachella yet, and I imagine what they meant was earlier in the year, so probably not referring to Austin City Limits, Vegoose, or All Points West (although I wouldn't say those are out of the question, just that they weren't talking about playing them is all). Fingers crossed!

So I'll throw some newish suggestions on the pile (or at least ones we haven't talked about in the redone version of this thread) Broken Bells - I don't think they have tour dates announced, and James Mercer has a bit of a NW connection via the Shins, their album comes out in March. Temper Trap - someone brought them up, but misread their schedule (or it's changed). They'll be in Europe for a bit up til right before the weekend of Sasquatch. However they're set for Bonnaroo which means they'll be back stateside at some point anyway, and they seem to miss Seattle entirely on their incredibly meandering tour (which also seems to indicate they have no issue flying...Oregon to Massachusetts to Colorado in a week?) www.thetempertrap.net/Gigs/Dan Black - this one is a little out of the blue, but I have an inkling that something is up with him based on some stuff I've read online. Not at all concrete. Passion Pit - they are hugely popular here, apparently (I swear they sold out some show late last year didn't they?) and they have two dates in Oregon and one in Vancouver but skip Seattle entirely. Civil Twilight - The End is pushing them kind of hard out of nowhere, which generally happens when they're having some sort of event with a band (Billy Boy on Poison/Great Northern around Endfest, 30 Seconds to Mars for Deck the Hall ball, etc.) and their current tour doesn't seem to be bringing them anywhere nearby. Again this one is kind of out of nowhere. Lastly, Edward Sharpe - who I think has come up a few times actually, but he fits in well in terms of availability and the sort of band Sasquatch would cater to.

That is an interesting idea. If Pavement is NOT headlining, which people seem to think is possible, who would they be paired with? Definitely an indie feeling band, I think, suggestions?
As bizarre as it sounds, could anyone see Pavement subheadlining Soundgarden?

The year they headlined Bumbershoot they also subheadlined Sasquatch I believe, even if it was in support of the Cure. Death Cab is probably touring again later this year so I'd believe that before any of the rest. I don't see them doing a second date on the One Fast Move tour anywhere because of the nature of the material - if you saw the setlist for Seattle, I think there were no Death Cab or Son Volt covers (but I could be wrong), nor any of Gibbard's standbys for his solo work.

It didn't hurt that his opener was Erikah Badu (however you spell it) and that was just not anything people were into. I would have left the mainstage after Silversun Pickups, and probably just gone home early lol

I don't know, I think if Postal Service randomly shows up out of the blue despite saying no more, Ben Gibbard's wife/fiance (I forget which) might be just as likely, and might even fill in for Jenny Lewis.

So I'll start. When I think about Pavement headlining, what band would make sense opening up for them? We've discussed MGMT, Vampire Weekend, and Phoenix as possible subheadliners, but talk about a different crowd. There would be a mass exodus to the dance tent prior to Pavement's appearance. The National would work great right before Pavement. They're doing a few shows together, and ever since someone said how cool it would be if The National played "So Far Around The Bend" that night it's something I've been hoping for. By the same logic, Broken Social Scene, who is also doing shows with Pavement, would make sense. I'd buy this as well. When bands are touring together, they do tend to get paired. They did it with REM, Modest Mouse and the National two years ago I believe.

The band that keeps popping in my head is Sonic Youth, who have not been mentioned in ages on this board. They are playing shows in April, and doing ATP later this year, so they do pass the first criteria to be a rumor; they are alive and currently playing live music. Well, I certainly think that's a strong possibility at least. They did headline the Block Party last year, but that isn't exactly what I'd call the pinnacle of festivals (don't get me wrong, it's great fun, but let's be realistic in terms of size). On another note, I don't think anyone's brought up Ben Harper recently although I know i've seen his name here - I'd say he's at best like 5 percent coming due to both playing last year and being DMB's opener (thank god, I'm just *not* into Ben Harper)

On another note, is anyone going tomorrow night, who maybe uses twitter or texting or could post from the event? I imagine someone from earcandy will be there, but the more info you have coming in the better, right?

I don't understand the rumor behind Rise Against, other than they are playing Bonarroo (a much "wider range" festival) and they don't have scheduled shows for Sasquatch dates... Haha it's mostly they're playing Bonnaroo, another festival in Ohio the weekend before, and pretty much festivals in Europe the rest of June (and maybe some festival in Mexico City too). The only reason they're even showing up so much in this thread is I get bored easily and no one was bringing up much I wanted to talk about so I decided to argue about them instead

I think Rise Against though, is just as alternative as some of those bands. They're on top 40 radio and loved by Nickelback and Trapt fans. Not exactly the same. The same can be said for the Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, REM, Beck, and others who have headlined (and actually - has Rise Against ever made top 40 radio? I mean, isn't that defined by the top 40 played singles or something..I don't think they have), and several of the rumored headliners as well.

Where did you hear Lolla? I didn't think their lineup was out yet?
And as for availability of the Arcade Fire, that may be because they have already booked something, or simply aren't taking major booking inquiries for those months and have already taken all the contracts they will.
