You can't just rebuild for six years. You'll lose your job. Only the A's and Rays can get away with that. We're seeing it now, with the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Royals making terrible franchise decisions. "I want to save my job."

Gotta feel bad for Jaso. I'll enjoy seeing his ass on the bench when they play the A's. Funny I made this comment about Seattle's best hitter when the Mariners traded for Morales. Now the after thought Jaso who has an .850 OPS is the A's new catcher. Great move for Oakland. Cole is a potential ace, but I'm done building for the future. As I've mentioned several times in my man-crush Stanton rants, it's time for the A's to defend their title, and stop stock piling prospects. I can't believe the Mariners gave up their best hitter for Michael Morse. Jaso can't hit lefties at all, but his OPS vs. righties last year was .927, and he'll get the bulk of the platoon at bats. Morse isn't even a pull hitter, so moving the left field fences in at Safeco shouldn't improve his power numbers too much. I'm glad my favorite team plays in the same division as the Mariners.

Spiritualized - Sweet Heart Sweet LightI see you've posted this multiple times now. Am I the only one who doesn't like this album? I'm a huge Spiritualized fan, and their show at Sasquatch last year was outstanding, but most of the songs on the new album sound like different interpretations of other songs. Everything sounds familiar, just a bit different.

Do you think some combination of Justin Timberlake/Timbaland + guests would be received as well Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg + guests? Guests could include Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, M.I.A., or Madonna. Purely speculative, of course, but would Coachella attendees enjoy a Timberlake/Timbaland headlining set? I think that if they were headliners then different types of people would try to get tickets this year. So a different type of person would attempt to buy the remaining Coachella passes, rather than the usual purchasers who don't care if Timberlake/Timbaland are headlining? Tell us more, because I'm scratching my head with this one.

If you went to a store that was having a 20% off sale and presented your gift card for an additional 30% off, that your great aunt Hilda gave you for Christmas, you'd have 50% off. That's not true actually, otherwise outstanding post.

Hey hippies. The first play after Flacco fumbled the snap early in the third quarter, Peyton Manning yelled out, "4-20."

Definitely use ESPN. They make things easy. This will get you started: games.espn.go.com/fhl/content?page=fhlrulesindex2013Looks like the two options are rotisserie or H2H (head to head). I prefer rotisserie myself. The best team wins in rotisserie while H2H opens the door to a lot of luck. We want a live draft. They put us all in a chat room while we draft, so it makes for a fun hour or so of banter. When you pick the draft time, keep in mind it will likely be Eastern time, so if you want to draft at 8pm, don't pick 8pm ET. Ten people is the perfect amount for a league, so I'm sure you can talk someone else on the board into filling the last spot.

This is also my favorite time of the year, when everyone freaks the fuck out every day the lineup is not released. I'm rooting for late January. Patience is a strength of mine, so I enjoy those who aren't.

I think what we agreed on was that the BBWAA is a complete joke. I'm not sure I ever said that everybody was doing steroids. Call me idealistic, but I'm fairly confident at least 1/5 players weren't juicing. My position is this (I said this several pages ago) The BBWW has a responsibility to nominate the best very players from each era into the Hall. And while Bonds, Clemens and McGwire all chose to do steroids, they were also three of the best players from their era -and would still have been, even without the steroids. They shouldn't be punished because they were caught and players like Kirby Puckett, Cal Ripken and Roberto Alomar weren't.Now then, referring to Glavine and Maddux - Unless something comes out on both of them over the next 11 months (tying them to steroids) I'm 100% confident both of those players will be elected to Hall of Fame - and deservedly so. But players who have admitting to steroids have admitted to doing them to recover from injury. Pitchers throwing 100+ pitches per night are injuring their arm, so using steroids will make them stronger their next start. It's not speculation, it's science. Maddux and Glavine were around long enough to win 300 games, so it makes sense they used steroids to keep their arm youthful while pitching through the steroid era of the early 90s and beyond. Speaking of which, do you remember when basically every player on the Texas Rangers was suspected of steroids in the early 90s, because Jose Canseco played for that team, and outed half of his teammates? Guess who also played for the Rangers in the early 90s. I'll give you a hint, he was a power pitcher in his mid 40s who was a first ballot Hall of Famer. Just read that Justin Upton rejected a trade to the M's. It is reported that the trade included Nick Franklin, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor and one of our big three (Walker, Hultzen, Paxton). This is only from mlbtraderumors.com but: "the bulk of the risk would've fallen on Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik. As a source opines to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal (Twitter link), Upton may have "saved Jack Z's job" by rejecting the trade and keeping so much top-flight young talent in Seattle." I tend to agree with that with this specific move I actually feel bad for Mariner fans, because I'm a huge Justin Upton fan. They've expressed all along it is time to compete, and stop building for the future, so what a slap in the face one of the best young power hitters in the game said, "nah, I don't want to play in Seattle." One can hardly blame him with that fairweather city.

I officially don't get the infatuation with Daft Punk. So they are electronic godfathers, cool. Everyone and their kid sister is making electronic music these days, and those with the most money are creating amazing visual spectacles. So maybe they started this trend seven years ago, but are they really going to do it that much better than everyone since? IT'S STILL JUST TWO GUYS PRESSING PLAY.

They finally made it that year?! Because all I knew till now was that Fleet Foxes came out and played an encore on the Main Stage because the National's tour bus broke down. You probably have a bunch of friends who hate you. Word got around, but we mostly kept it on the hush so the crowd wouldn't be full of douchebags.

"My vote should reflect history, and should reflect the era...a sport absolutely saturated with drug use, and these were the best players of the era, and that's why I voted for them."
-Buster Olney
I know Stamper has voiced an agreement with me in the past about how everyone's doing steroids. After knowing what you know, the skinny lead off hitters, fat workhorse starters, and utility infielders are among the people regularly getting caught for steroids, do you now reverse your opinion knowing Glavine and Maddux are eligible for the hall next year?

Today we were given a very clear message about what the Hall of Fame selection committee thinks about players linked to PEDs. Under 40% of the vote for both Bonds and Clemens. You've got to be kidding me, right? I wish every idiot who voted against Clemens and Bonds would look me right in the eye and say, "No one who uses steroids will ever make it to the Hall." I guarantee they've already let at least one slip through the five hole, if not several. Point is, the best of the best are the only ones being punished when nearly everyone was guilty. The mediocre get a free pass. It's the same thing with Lance Armstrong.

That was definitely a 'thank god' in reference to Cat Power. I hate her music, and I hate her as a person. Rooting for Cat Power to not be on a festival lineup is like rooting for a stripper to not get naked.

I plan on a half assed boycott which involves not going to games or buying any hockey stuff. It won't make much of a difference in Vancouver since they always sell out anyway, but I hope the smaller market teams get lower attendance this season to send a bit of a message. Is your half-ass boycott because of the players, or the owners? Please explain.
