The "L" and "N" that these British Columbians are talking about are the equivalent to the graduated licensing programs in many of the states, such as Washington. They also refer to these big magnetic letters that you have to put on the back of your car when you drive to signify that you are a new driver. When I see them on the road, I think Loser: And Newb: Basically, they're a warning to other motorists that the person driving is even worse than the other BC drivers. Beware!

Most of the hate from this board comes from their Sasquatch performance. I agree, and I hope we're right. I was fortunate enough to see their Sasquatch performance from beyond cymbal-throwing distance so my opinion of it was less clouded by my fight or flight response. They were, however, completely bonkers on stage. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as when I saw them open for System a few years ago at an arena show. Now THAT was a wicked concert!

I grew up playing the clarinet and a bit of percussion and these days play guitar. I'm better at listening to music than producing my own though.

How about some Battles?
Actually, this song sounds like it can be written in 4/4, but it might get messy.

The last time they played Sasquatch they acted like they owned the place and complained about the audience. I will be happy if they never come back.

I was going to post tool but I thought that everyone else would be postin that It was definitely the obvious go-to, but I was surprised they hadn't been mentioned yet. Another obvious one is Mars Volta, but they seem to get a lot of hate on this board so maybe I'll keep them out of this.

I saw Freelance Whales last night. I'm not their #1 fan, but the gig was fun. Tickets were cheap, PBR was on special (of course), and they sounded pretty good. It may have just been the venue, but their stage presence seems to have improved since they played Sasquatch earlier this year. The reason I bring this up is because I ran into the lead singer of the opening band (Pepper Rabbit) at the bar and got to talking to him about their upcoming gigs. Turns out they are hoping to play Sasquatch this year. They don't have the final word on it yet, or at least that's what he told me. They are turning the west coast with Passion Pit for the next few week, and later Ra Ra Riot, in case any of you are going to one of those shows. Pepper Rabbit definitely fits into the whole indie-hipster music scene, much like Freelance Whales. Their sound live was better than what I listened to today on their myspace, but check them out anyway if you want: www.myspace.com/pepperrabbitWho knows, maybe you'll fall in love with them and be able to tell people you were listening to their stuff back in 2010!

If Bassnectar(s) gets a late night slot there is a good chance that the Gorge will collapse in on itself. Yes! It would.

Give it up, wolfy, or you are going in the bin with biff and doumak. Yeah, the "open minded music fan" thing was a cheap shot, but dude, lighten up. It is too easy to push your buttons. Especially for someone who finds it so easy to give others shit. I imagine this is another hazard of having four younger sisters.

Okay, can we all go back to hating each other now. It's much more productive. Productive in board activity only. OK, there's a bit of entertainment value too.

You would have done better if you had become familiar on the board first. Or at least not been from fucking Penticton. All I can say is I hope someone from Kelowna has pity on you.

Heh, "defending him" might be a little strong. Let's call a spade a spade. The guy can shred, but given the opportunity I would shit in his mouth. Like I care if that asshat can play guitar. Not to compare the two artists, but after the Kanye West debate I thought you were actually an open minded music fan. Guess I was wrong. You don't have to like him or his god awful music, but as I said before, the guy can shred. Not that this showcases his talent, but I think I shat a brick when I learned that a certain cover of "Kid A" was done by Mr. Mayer. The fact that I liked something that he had done surprised and bothered me.

Actually no. You gotta sleep sometime, and crashing in your tent after rolling all night once the sun has come is a good way to get VERY dehydrated. I'm all for getting fucked up, but you gotta take care of your shit or you're not gonna have a good time. Hydrate or die, kids. This fellow 29yr old agrees with you here. 4 am is my bedtime at the latest. Then it's also great to have a band in the late afternoon to have a little shut eye for; Saturday 5pm main stage for my friends and I will forever be called 'The Naptional'. Both of these comments are spot on. Especially with the extra day of music this year, if you do not party with at least a bit of responsibility you will be fucked. In a bad way. Also, I love your term "The Naptional." Kinda want to take one right now...

Say what you want about the generic music he puts out, but in the traditional sense of the word, John Mayer is a great guitarist and if you cannot see that, then you are trying way too hard to be cool. You said it, brother. Since you speak from yours, it is no wonder you're the post count leader.

John Mayer is another example of a talented musician who I will never fully respect.
