Honestly, I hope this thing is either amazing or terrible. I can't handle something mediocre because I'll probably still go and then be disappointed

I honestly can't believe Trisler used Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, and the Foo Fighters as examples of Sasquatch artists. HOW YOU GONNA DO US LIKE THAT? We had THE CURE we had DAVID BYRNE ugh

I did not receive that email, but... I'm (probably foolishly) optimistic!

Initial thoughts:
The Sasquatch veterans they chose to highlight were interesting. They're all obvious crossover stars, but the list misses possibly the biggest star: Kanye West. (and Biffy Clyro, duh) Is that list priming us to expect big name artists that weekend?
They do not say anything about a festival collecting artists over Memorial Day weekend. The email specifically says that May 24-26 will have concerts. While I think their long game is to launch a new festival, that sounds to me like there will be three separately billed shows (maybe you could buy all three for a discounted rate) over Memorial Day weekend this year. Maybe they chose to announce this plan today because they announced Labor Day weekend shows (Dave Matthews Band) today.
Artists already playing the Seattle market around that time who I would think would be possible for those dates, but are presumably out: Barns Courtney, Elle King, Jenny Lewis, the Strumbellas, and the Twilight Sad.
I recently mentioned seeing that Hozier and Jade Bird skipped Seattle and Portland on tour announcements. For what it's worth, Hozier plays Boston Calling 5/24 and then is off until Bonnaoo. Jade Bird's tour dates include the Neighbourhood Weekender 5/25-26 in Warrington, UK.

My pessimism is telling me this is going to be a hip-hop festival. It's the only non EDM genre that will bring in a guaranteed big crowd of young people, and I really don't think LN is going to risk another indie rock festival with someone like Vampire Weekend headlining.

Artists that seem like they could fit a possible bill that haven’t announced firm plans but purport to be active this year:

I really don't think LN is going to risk another indie rock festival with someone like Vampire Weekend headlining. I know it was a different era, but Vampire Weekend’s sub-headlining main stage crowd in 2010 (after their second album) (and before only My Morning Jacket) was among the biggest crowds I saw at Sasquatch.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me from the years of 2016-2018 and I’ll probably still wait to see the lineup.
