I think it is well worth noting that the release never actually says it’s going to be a 3 day festival. However, the logistics of booking 2+ different shows in the same weekend is a massive clusterfuck and something the Gorge almost never does any more. They always want to encourage campers to stay all weekend, whenever possible. So, even if they do end up as separate shows, I would fully expect them to offer some sort discount package for people wanting to stay and attend all three.

How about a three day jam with three major headliners and 2 or 3 other upper tier acts each day on one stage? Fill the hill! I rampantly speculate Gorillaz on Saturday.

If it is an electronic festival, the list of possible acts just got a little shorter.

I'm sure livenation can scrounge up enough bleeps and bloops to fill a 3 day weekend.

My pessimism is telling me this is going to be a hip-hop festival. It's the only non EDM genre that will bring in a guaranteed big crowd of young people As far as hip-hop/adjacent artists, do you have any in mind? Here are some on the festival circuit already: Brockhampton Cardi B Childish Gambino Ella Mai Gucci Mane Janelle Monáe Khalid Kid Cudi Playboi Carti Post Malone Pusha T Sheck Wes Solange Travis Scott Wiz Khalifa YG I think we can rule out a hip-hop based event at The Gorge. Summer Jam wasn't welcomed back to The Gorge due to security issues. Eminem has wanted to play the Gorge in recent years but was denied.

I was thinking this same thing when the idea of a hip hop festival was floated. I can’t testify to the Eminem thing, but I do recall some legal/security issues ( somebody getting shot or something like that) last time they had Summer Jam there. Since then (and possibly before then) the Gorge hasn’t really targeted black people hip hop fans for anything.

Maybe this is the year I go to Movement. Not seeing as many Techno legends as I would want, though (a la Robert Hood and Underground Resistance), but Josh Wink, Kenny Larkin, and Herbert would be cool. New school people like Marie Davidson, Soul Clap, and DJ Tennis are nice as well. Some of the big names are terrible though...

According to Ezra Koenig, a "full tour announce" is coming this week. They're already playing Hangout and Firefly stateside. Does anybody know if those are Live Nation events? Of course, it's probably coincidental that Live Nation is announcing the Memorial Day weekend shows at the Gorge in the coming weeks because lots of stuff gets announced this time of year, but... crazier coincidences have proven related. EDIT: Ezra Koenig, frontman of Vampire Weekend. So this probably isn't happening. Vampire Weekend 2019 Tour Dates: 09/25 – Vancouver, BC @ Festival Lawn at Deer Lake Park 09/27 – Seattle, WA @ WaMu Theater 09/28 – Portland, OR @ McMenamins Edgefield

Oof, the WaMu? I guess at least it's not SoDo, but yikes. I was hoping they'd at least land at Marymoor.

I had a dream it was 3 separate days of only headliners. The first two were OutKast and Lorde.
OutKast and Lorde confirmed

The Chemical Brothers have a new album coming out in April. They are playing LA and San Francisco May 15-17, then Europe in June. If we are in fact looking at a new electronic festival here, I would consider them highly likely, which would definitely get my attention. Put Aphex Twin and The Chemical Brothers at the top of the bill and the rest of the lineup almost doesn’t matter, I’m there.

I don't know why I got my hopes up that "the weeks to come" could have meant this past week, but now that we're into February and this coming week will be two weeks out from the original announcement, I'm letting my hopes get up again. I still think it will be a smaller lineup of larger acts than we usually saw at Sasquatch. Pop star Halsey is hosting and performing as the musical guest on SNL next Saturday, 2/9. She currently does not have any tour dates planned, but I don't know why else she'd be doing this now if she's not gearing up for some sort of big announcement. I don't know exactly how big she is, but I think the last time she came through Seattle she played Key Arena, and I think she fits into a "new generation of contemporary artists." Just a thought on a bored Saturday morning.

Two things;
One, my Facebook memories reminded me that today in 2015 we received one of the dopest lineups I personally got to see at Sasquatch (KDot, Robert Plant, Tame Imp, my beloved Annie Clark, James Blake, Chromeo, I could go on)
Two, it’s kind of getting late to announce a music festival lineup isn’t it? Kind of seems bad for business unless they’re majorly downscaling the operation to make it more of a weekend trip type event.

If it's this Friday and we haven't heard anything yet, I'll be more concerned

Yeah, first week of February doesn’t scream late to me, especially if it’s a mid-sized event appealing mainly to locals instead of the Destination Festival Sasquatch became.
