1. Four Tet (Neumos 2010, Bumbershoot 2011, Bonnaroo 2013, Branx 2014) Four Tet is the one and only DJ I have ever enjoyed as much as a full band. He is a pretty big deal and I've been waiting 10 years to see him at Sasquatch. I wrote a thread on the subject: sasquatchfest.proboards.com/thread/2852/tet. 2. Caribou (Chop Suey 2008, Sasquatch 2010, Chop Suey 2010, Roseland 2015, Showbox 2015, Showbox 2015) If the cutoff for casual fans is 3 shows, then what is 6 shows? A fucking incredible live band. This is the kind of shit that brings the whole family together. I've actually been trying to get into Four Tet in preparation for their set (presumably) in Chupa. For some reason, haven't fully been able to get into it. Maybe it's something you have to see live to fully get it? I was way into this jam/album immediately, like 6 years before I ever saw the dude live. As far as the more recent style of material that he is playing live, if this doesn't do anything for you, well then I think you are just not down with this funk.

I guess I'm just not down with the funk. I'm sorry Four Tet. I tried, but I just don't get it.

I would have to agree with Burrito though...every DJ set has left me disappointed other than Four Tet and DJ Shadow. If you don't have any conflicts do a drive-by at least. 85% sure that even if you don't dig his recorded stuff your booty will be a groovin'

1. Chelsea Wolfe - 2015 at Shakedown in Bellingham, WA (also another time with Burrito at Barboza but that was before Abyss)
If you don't know Abyss you really should check it out. Not totally a departure from Chelsea Wolfe's past material but she definitely decided to go heavy. I think that "mind fuckery" is the best thing to expect when going into this show. She has an amazing and beautiful voice but it is surrounded by a whole lot of raunchy nasty heavy noise. I am hoping she gets a set time when it is dark or getting dark. It has potential to be an extremely special set at the Gorge given the correct time of day. It will be rad either way but I'm thinking transcendent if properly placed.
2. Shamir - 2015 at Life Is Beautiful (Las Vegas, NV)
I know this was Shamir's hometown and that could have had a huge factor on why the crowd was so into this set. That doesn't matter though. Everyone was dancing and Shamir had a swagger that I talked about for weeks after seeing that show. A swagger that says fuck you constraints of gender and sexuality. A swagger that says I belong here, commanding this crowd and making them move. It was such a surprise show for me because I was so-so on the Shamir recorded material. I doubt this will be in the dance tent cuz it was a full on band. But I am guessing it will be earlier in the day and you shouldn't sit on your ass in district 9. GET THERE FOR THIS.
3. Deep Sea Diver - 2015 at KEXP show before the Sounders March To The Match and 2014? Sasquatch.
This is an indie band out of Seattle that should be getting a ton more love in the blogosphere. The set that I witnessed at Sasquatch was super early. Maybe the first set of the day at the Bigfoot. They had a small but passionate crowd moving with them the whole time. It was a fine show. I was super happy that I made the trek in 5 hours earlier than the rest of my crew. AND THEN THEY COVERED MARIAH CAREY. Their cover of "Fantasy" made me a fan for life. The free set they played before the Sounders March To The Match was also rad.

Chelsea Wolfe and Deep Sea Diver are both amazing live bands with them beautiful lady voices that I love so much. If I have to pick 3 bands I pick Yo La Tengo, but if I am picking 4 and 5 bands they are Chelsea Wolfe and Deep Sea Diver.

These are the most memorable performers to me; not necessarily the best, but the most memorable.
Die Antwoord (Sasquatch 2014). Not really into rave-rap, or whatever the hell they are, and wasn't much familiar with them, but I was blown away by their late-night set. The high energy level, unique visuals, and squeaky voice of Yolandi Visser were mesmerizing. They had the crowd enthralled the entire time. During their first song, I exchanged 'What the F... is this?' with a 'youngster' next to me, and from that point on we were hypnotized.
Violent Femmes (Project Pabst 2014). One of my favorite groups; caught them at Sasquatch 2014, but they seemed somewhat subdued during their performance? During Project Pabst, they played for a full hour and a half, and really appeared to enjoy being there. Of course, had the whole crowd singing along at the top of their lungs. I got to actually babble to Gordon and Brian about how much I liked their music while they waited in line at one of the food vendors; both were very nice. A few months later, as I was running up the stairs at the Roseland for the Billy Idol concert, one of the ushers saw my Femmes t-shirt and commented that the Pabst performance was the best set that he had ever seen. But he appeared to be only about 24, so.....
Shamir (Life is Beautiful 2015). Wandered over to the Huntridge Stage after the Awolnation set while waiting for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros on the main stage. Had never heard of him before, but his catchy music drew you in. As Badchoices said, Shamir had the whole crowd dancing. I dare you to listen to his set and not want to move your feet. Good fun dance party.

One of the things that excites me about this festival the most is that I have not see like 95% of the artists on the lineup.
I've seen Alabama Shakes, Lord Huron, M. Ward, Allen Stone, Kurt Vile, Yo La Tengo, Tycho, M83 and Major Lazer before. All of them put on solid shows. Out of the artists listed on the bill that I've seen, Yo La Tengo or Alabama Shakes were my favorite (although very different styles of music/sets)

Phish, Ween, Bruce & E Street, Primus and My Morning Jacket all put on consistently fun and energetic live performances.

One of the things that excites me about this festival the most is that I have not see like 95% of the artists on the lineup. Yes! A lot of people have trash-talked the lineup but in my opinion it's one of the best lineups of 2016. The undercard is unbelievably strong/rare. I've seen less than 5 of the artists on the lineup, which is fairly uncommon for me with festivals in general.

Just hope I can fit her into Monday's already jam-packed lineup. Would be cool to see Wolfe and Baroness back to back. Would be V metal, lol.

The drumming style reminds me of Dan Snaith's Andorra but toward the end it reminds me of his remix of Virgo Four's "It's a Crime". I can definitely see now why the two are often compared. His set will be a whole heap of fun.

The only vouching I can do on this years lineup is for the Cure. If you kept up with the band a day thread, then you got some inkling as to my experience. They were the Saturday night closing act for the 2013 ACL Music Festival in Zilker Park, Austin. Texas in October can be hot, and this weekend was. Friday was hot, and Saturday started the same. As the day wore on, big rain clouds were building up on the horizon from the heat, and sure enough, by the time Mr. Robert and his mates took the stage, the clouds were full to bursting overhead. If you have never experienced a hard rain in the south before, it can be quite invigorating. Up here in the northwest, if it is raining, it is probably cold as well. But in Austin that night, the rain was warm and refreshing, and it came down throughout the performance. The Cure was on my bucket list already, and they did not disappoint. Prayers for Rain was splashingly mind bending and one of my favorite musical memories. Alas, the rain continued to come down and Sunday got washed out, so my ACL experience ended that night. I can't wait for Sunday night at the Gorge, although I can do without the rain this time. And with no curfew, I am hoping for a shall we say, an enlarged set.

Mac Demarco - Sasquatch will be my fourth time seeing him, he always puts on a crazy energetic show! Last time I saw him at Moore Theatre in Seattle and for his encore and came out dancing to "What Is Love?", eventually ending up in nothing but his briefs. Good times.
Major Lazer - I saw Major Lazer headline Mad Decent Block Party in Eugene last September. If you like to dance, this is the show for you. Diplo rolling around on top of the crowd in a giant ball was a highlight.
A$AP Rocky - Saw the God of Purple at Capitol Hill Block Party two years ago. He got the crowd hyphy, danced to some Nirvana, and even brought up A$AP Ferg to perform Shabba with him if my memory serves me correct.

Even Adam Snacks said that 2010 was one of his favorite years on the Official Podcast. I would give my left nut to see Pavement. I tried hard to see them in both Boston and NYC in 201 but I was a broke college kid and couldn't pay over face value. *kicks rocks*
