SASQUATCH FESTIVAL SUNDAY 29TH MAY
12/01/16 | Posted by CURE:ROBERT
THE CURE ARE HEADLINING THE SASQUATCH FESTIVAL SUNDAY 29TH MAY PLEASE GET YOUR TICKETS HERE www.sasquatchfestival.com THE CURE ARE SCHEDULED TO PLAY FROM 11PM TO 1:30AM (CURFEW)...
Mr. Robert Smith has been only constant member of band since forming in 1976. Lot's of hits in the 80's. I stayed up late to see their videos on MTv. Will turn 57 about a month before Sasquatch. Still sound great. A must see for 2016. Here they are in 2013 at Lollapalooza.
The Cure were one of the first of the alternative acts to pierce the virginity of my punkhood. I forget when exactly I began to gravitate towards this particular sector of music - there weren't many punk or new wave bands touring through Oklahoma in the early 80's, but there were AOR radio stations with some late night punk and new wave programming. I caught a few acts here and there, alas the Cure was not one. They remained an unseen unicorn until October 2014 when I got to see them on a Saturday night in Austin, Texas during the ACL festival. Rain came down and soaked the crowd through the entire set, and came down harder as we left Zilker Park at the end of the night. One of my favorite festival experiences.
In keeping with the freedom to create this thread in my own weird way, I am posting a couple of concert videos of some the Cure's punk and new wave contemporaries. This was the scene in the early 80's - a pretty good time for music if you ask me.
Talking Heads - Live in Rome 1980
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Rockpalast 1981
Staring at the Sea - The Singles 1979 - 1985

This really well done! it's almost like a "band a day" thread =), you should add more info like discography and such. I can link it on the band a day sign up thread.
Good job Mutt!
Ooooh I was also at the ACL show when it started pouring on us. It was a pretty awesome experience. Fitting for the Cure

It probably isn't fair of me to post such an old video, but fuck it. From everything I've seen they're still just a powerful live a quarter century later. Much like how The Cure at the Gorge is going to be one of my ultimate bucket-list experiences, Fascination Street, specifically, is at the top of a long list of songs I've always wanted to see live. There aren't too many bass lines in the history of modern music that can hold a candle to the one in that song. This is going to be something special for me.

Won't be disappointed no matter what they play but will be ecstatic if they play Primary.

I too am a true believer in the heavy bass line, and this is no doubt one groovy bass. Does Grimes Flesh without blood have another weirdly groovy bass line or no? I have found myself doing the sit down two step on my commute lately listening to these two in close proximity. But one of my favorite bass lines and live songs is Prayers for Rain. Mr. Smith and the band dropped a heavy one there, and it will be down right gravity sucking at the gorge.

Do you think he'll fight Mecha Straisand again during Sasquatch? Mecha Streisand was blasted into space and deetstroyed. Maybe Major Lazar?

I just realized that for my entire adult life I've been calling Eric Heidecker, "Tim Heidecker," then somehow managed to post the correct name, but on the wrong person.
I'm going to go crawl in a shame hole.
