There should be big dorky stickers like the Canadians have on their cars to signify which posters aren't old enough to walk to the store by themselves yet. I like this idea. I guess the name 'iloveconoroberst' should have tipped me off. This is also true.

I will pay money to see Pinkerton live if given the chance. That album is full of memories for me. You and a million other people. Myself included. I too saw them on their Green Album tour (opened by Jimmy Eat World and Tenacious D (rawk!)) and while I was very excited to finally see the band at the time, I will never go out of my way to see them again. Everything since Pinkerton has been crap, but obviously I'm not the only one saying that. I really wish that campaign to pay Weezer $10 million to break up had worked out. Hey, Rivers: just stop already!

I had no such problem. I let my National friends leave and stayed with a smaller posse at Crudo. Glad I did. It was really enjoyable, and I was even more glad I stayed after slowly realizing that would likely be one of their very few performances. Here's hoping it's not true!

If you're suggesting that I am attempting to pad my post count Not at all, just thought I'd set you up for a #700 boast. Remember that it's in my best interest to keep your posts coming. Good work hitting 666 and 700 in the same day!

Well believe it or not plenty of people around your age were listening to FF's albums as they were coming out and loved them, and plenty of those folks aren't parents either. And I specifically remember my dad asking me, when I was a teenager, if I had heard of them. Maybe it would be more accurate if we call FF "drew's dad rock."

You can't be 25 and consider Foo Fighters "dad rock". Yeah, seriously. How many kids do you have, drew?

Mike Patton is da bomb.
I don't mind that he was on the medium stage. Some of my favorite Sasquatch performances have been there. Crudo, Deadmau5, Michael Franti and Spearhead (the year of the wind storm), Beastie Boys instrumental set, Girl Talk, Miike Snow, and Ghostland to name a few. Unless the band has some insane light show that demands a larger stage I actually prefer seeing them on the Bigfoot stage. It's easier for me to get closer, and I feel like more of the people there are invested in the gig. Otherwise they'd just be chilling on the hill watching whatever happened to be on the main stage. This was definitely the case at the Crudo show. A really small turn out, but everyone there was really into it. I think they also had a shitty early time slot, which I do think is wrong.

Mike Patton and Dan the Automator's Crudo set from '08. That set was awesome. One of many Sasquatch hidden gems.

He doesn't really do much for me musically, but I like him for the same reason I like fireworks on 4th of July. I really enjoy dancing to his music, but I think this is a very accurate description of his appeal.

Just to make sure for those who weren't in attendance and are super curious, what was the reason for the Mars Volta performance being so awful? Oh, and to answer your question: they went insane at Sasquatch '09. It kinda seemed like their normally managed chaos went out of their control and rather than being insanely good and complicated it just turned into a cesspool of sound. On top of that, Cedric, in his madness, decided it was a good idea to throw heavy things into the audience. I was not nearly close enough to be worried for my own safety, but I've heard a number of people talk about how they were afraid for their lives. They were probably exaggerating, but I wouldn't have traded places with them.

I saw them open for System a few years ago at an arena show. Now THAT was a wicked concert! DUDE! Such a good show! Yes! That night in general was quite the adventure for me, too. It's a long story, so I'll try to condense it, but feel free not to read this: First off, I didn't know about the concert until after it was sold out. I scoured Craigslist for weeks trying to pick up a pair of floor tickets for myself my girlfriend at the time for anything close to face value, but people were only selling for much more. I happened to check the morning of the show and saw that someone was offering a pair at face value, so I e-mailed and met up with them downtown to transact. When I got there she said that she had won the tickets from a radio contest and didn't know the bands so decided to sell, and after posting she received about 100 e-mails in 15 minutes but mine was the first. The radio station had also given her a copy of the latest Mars Volta album, so she threw that in to the deal as well. I was a happy camper. Later that evening, we were on our way to GM Place for the concert when we ran into some other concert goers on the SkyTrain. We got to talking to them, and even picked up some herbal supplements from them, and somehow in our conversation it came out that one person in their group thought the concert was actually at the Pacific Coliseum, another arena in the outskirts of town (we were downtown.) We checked our tickets, and in fact we were headed to the wrong place. Since we were already running late, this was not good news. We changed our travel plans and stayed on the SkyTrain a few more stops in order to connect with the #16 bus that would take us to the concert. The bus was packed to the brim with more concert goers, and pretty soon after we boarded the driver got on the intercom and asked if there was anyone on the bus who wasn't going to the System show. No one responded, so he excitedly exclaimed that we were "going express" and proceeded to drive us straight to the concert with out stopping. He even said he'd turn a blind eye when we asked if we could smoke up on the bus. Only in Vancouver. So we get to the show, going through about 5 security checkpoints before we make it to the floor, and Mars Volta is in the middle of a huge build-up to one of their songs. I don't even remember which one it was now, but it was epic. The place was alive and the energy unreal. Turns out that we missed about half of their set, but the half that we did see was awesome. And then System went on and time seemed to stop. I think the herbal supplements had a lot to do with this, but still. A great adventure, and a great show.

Oh, wicked. She's a cool chick, and a talented photographer. She was living in Cali for a bit but now she's back! What a small world. I love seeing random people from my past at Sasquatch.
Any other animal hat sightings out there?

Hey Wolfhat, I was at the Biltmore last night as well... ...and that will likely be the last time I see Freelance Whales. you know, they're okay and I had a good time with my date...but god it was mushy, sappy and just lacked any edge. It sounded like every song they played could have been written about crying over cotton candy, or falling off a teeter todder. The drummer wore a scarf and looked right out of a J Crew catalogue. Yeah, I am not overly excited by them at all. I do like their sound, though, even if it does lack edge. Their album is no different so I guess I wasn't expecting to have my mind blown. Their drummer's outfit was hilarious though! Your "J Crew catalog" description is exactly right. For those not at the gig, he is a clean-cut guy and wore a fashionable sweater with a winter scarf tied tightly around his neck. Very strange, but also not out of place in a band of hipsters. Did you see the cardigan the leader singer from Pepper Rabbit was wearing? Well, of course you did. It was navy blue with a nautical theme, oversize, and had large white polka dots all over it. That's how I knew who he was at the bar.
