i liked this thread better when we were being creative because i accidentally said dirty pajamas instead of dirty projectors to my roommate and decided to run with it.

chances are real good it was talking about p the man. you can't help but fall in love.
censored colours is an incredible indie rock/pop album. this is their only real concept lp so again, a full listen is encouraged. and i, new orleans, never pleased, out and in and in and out, lay me back down. the album is so stellar.
you really need to give church mouth another listen. it has all the great southern soul and blues that the black keys have with a more full sound and better lyrics. and it rocks so hard. you can't listen to church mouth, bellies are full, the bottom, sugar cinnamon, dawn, telling tellers tell me and not love it.
waiter: you vultures! has some great tracks and ideas. they play AKA M80 the wolf every show and chicago a good amount too, and sometimes how the leopard got it spots. they sound like circa survive a lot on the album. it's before they found their sound, but it has a great jam aspect that really captures their live show.
GOOD LUCK. let us know how it goes.

Hey, I caught Gabourey Sidibe on SNL last night - they were way better than what I heard, her new stuff is really good. I can't wait to see him at the 'Squatch! hahahaha. i feel so bad. i couldn't decide between the heavy or broken social scene (precious had a broken social scene). then i figured i should check to see who was on snl.

One more note on Asian Robots that I thought about while doing laundry-- The Friday show was 21+. Dude! If you are a fan of Asian Robots and you love those little kids you are in luck! Check out the band after Asian Robots on the Yeti! They're called All Ages.

and also i've heard really good things about a couple bands from friends.
My Morning Jacket is a real cool instrumental surf band from tennessee worth checking out. They play with masks on. Check out the album !Viva!.
The Stand Still, Pyrite, Afternoon Commute, Panther Sex, and Hot Coffee are all definitely worth checking out too.
And Twilight Opening Weekend was really successful. They made like $142 million. I can't wait to see New Moon on the main stage big screen friday night.

Quasi at Johnny Brendas in Philly!
Dudes. Fucking sweet. This is rock. I like pavement and all, but I wasn't alive to catch them the first time so I have no nostalgia bias. Quasi showed that their many years of experience amount to them rocking that much harder. They barely overplayed, they jammed when they needed to jam, the vocals were spot on, the new-ish bassist was holding it down, and they were having a ton of fun. After to listening to most of the back catalogue, this year's AMERICAN GONG is easily their finest work and their tour is rocking out the new tunes.
If you listen to pavement, built to spill, etc. you should already know quasi. if you don't already know quasi, you better get on it. because if you even like just one pavement song, quasi is your new friend. hell, if you like the black keys, try to check out quasi. simple rock done right.
Too boot they played substitute and i can see for miles by that kinda popular band who played during the waterbreak of that championship football match

The new Band of Horses is awesome! All of these recently leaked albums are great but the one that I am most torn over is The Hold Stready. Finally, this is probably not the right thread for this but after releasing quite possibly two of THE BEST albums this year, it's really a shame that neither The Morning Benders or Titus Andronicus are playing Sasquatch? BoH - i'm not digging as much as you are The Hold Steady - pretty good live. I heard 7 new tracks (3 singles + 4 others) i think a week before it all leaked. The Morning Benders - You can hear the influences, but it's the best breakthrough this year. I like it more than local natives. local natives is less original. local natives are absolutely great. but way less original. Titus Andronicus - i think it's alright but i can't get behind the hype. i've tried. i just can't

AND i wanted to post this to let you all know. BSS recorded a 10-track EP of shorter ideas and jams during the studio sessions. it sounds like the coolest thing in the world i can't wait to hear it.
"I know that some bands write their songs, rehearse them and then record them. Not Broken Social Scene. In recording Forgiveness Rock Record we did it our usual way: swimming in chaos and making it up as we go along. We started by loosely sketching out 30 songs in my garage, driving to Chicago, recording 20 of those, and then writing 20 more. The point was to never stop working. Whenever we got exhausted or overwhelmed we would take a breath, pick up our instruments and jam purely ‘for spirit purposes’. It was musical-therapy of sorts. Part of what kept the ideas flowing was Soma’s smaller, second studio where we could test out new ideas and experiment with overdubs. While John worked in the main room, this B-Room quickly became our musical kitchen where we cooked up soups of sound without the pressures time and money.
One evening, as a kind of exercise in spontaneity, Kevin, Brendan and I each took turns writing and recording minute-long “songs” with minimal overdubs just to see what would happen. We kept saying to John “we’re making you an EP!” It was a sort of first-thought-best-thought approach to music making. Within a few hours we had six lovely little soundscapes, one of which ended up being the closing song on Forgiveness Rock Record, ‘Me & My Hand’, and the rest became the beginnings of Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights.
As we continued to work on Forgiveness the B-room became more and more important as both a musical and social outlet - there are a lot of us in Broken Social Scene and it’s hard for us to sit on our hands – so naturally Ohad, Sam and Sebastian each recorded a song in the same spontaneous way. ‘Song For Dee’, the only traditional “song” on Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights, Brendan, Kevin and I recorded when we found out that our good friend Wayne’s dog died and we wanted to cheer him up.
All of the songs on Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights were recorded in Soma’s B-Room while Forgiveness Rock Record was being made. What these songs have in common is that they were all written in a spirit of playfulness and fearlessness where we could throw our discrimination to the wind and let the judges and critics take the night off. This tiny B-Room sanctuary fomented a very positive frame of mind, ultimately leading to one of the most enjoyable album-making experiences we’ve ever had. We hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as we enjoyed recording them. "
- Charles Spearin
Members of the Broken Social Scene Fan Club will be the first to receive a digital download of Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights on May 3rd by pre-ordering Forgiveness Rock Record from GalleryAC before release date. The EP will also be available via iTunes pre-order and for a limited time at participating HMV and independent record stores (Canada) and selected CIMS / AIMS independent record stores (USA) with the purchase of Forgiveness Rock Record.
Lo-Fi For The Dividing Nights
Tracklisting 1 - New Instructions 2 - Sudden Foot Loss 3 - Shabba Lights 4 - Song For Dee 5 - Eling's Haus 6 - Professor Sambo 7 - Never Felt Alive 8 - Paperweight Room 9 - Turbo Mouse 10 - Far Out

i think nada surf is still on the wookie (let's boycott bigfoot). there just isn't room on the main stage - they would never switch from closing sunday night on the wookie to playing before OK Go at like 4 on saturday

she and him.. yeah that happens. although it is worth watching just to see M Ward play guitar. he is so tasteful.
great news on lcd playing well. and local natives are getting so hyped it's crazy. good for them.
thanks for the reviews, i'll give you my quasi update this weekend. and tallest man if i go.
