Portishead and Massive Attack. Two bands that I cared about only in passing in the 90's whose music I can appreciate now, aesthetically speaking. I'm never going to shit my pants over either one, though.
Still would have loved to see that show.

Funny because Massive Attack's set at Sasquatch was the one I found most comparable to the Portishead set in feel. You could just tell that everyone there had been anticipating that moment for years.

Everything else on top of that is pure icing. SO. FUCKING. GOOD.

Now Massive Attack I can damn near obsessively stand behind. Thank you, AZ, for bringing them into my life.

That weekend made me obsessed with concerts/music, when before I was just a casual music listener. Brings a smile to my face just thinking about the whole experience.

Casual music listeners enjoy bands like Train. I have a feeling you've always been better than that, dafty.

Haha I was one step above that I guess. I listened to coldplay, red hot chili peppers, 311, etc. I still listen to that stuff now but I realize it's not the greatest.

Well of course you'd have to be a Portishead fan to appreciate their shows. There was this guy next to me with his girlfriend/wife/lady friend and he didn't look very happy to be there while his lady friend was having the time of her life. Not necessarily. I'm not a Portishead fan, I've spent about ten hours listening to their music. I still appreciated what they were doing, how intense the lead singer was (at times), how interesting their monitor show was 40% of the time (especially the cartoonish bit), the bass on Machine Gun, and the scratching on that one song. They put on a great show, whether you like their music or not. On the other hand, I was probably part of the 10% of the crowd who left thinking it wasn't one of the greatest shows ever. A lot of folks sound like they are comparing this show with losing their virginity (insert Drew joke). Funny because Massive Attack's set at Sasquatch was the one I found most comparable to the Portishead set in feel. You could just tell that everyone there had been anticipating that moment for years. I had a Massive Attack song stuck in my head all day Monday. If you want to be an ass, it wasn't that similar to the Massive Attack show, but I thought of that similarity as well. Having now seen both, if they were playing the same night, I would pick Massive Attack easily.

Having seen both, I'd probably take Portishead, but it's a close call. A very close call.

I'm with know on this one. Massive Attack for sure.
On another note, the foo fighters were absolutely great last night. I can't think of anyone that epitomizes the term "rock star" like Dave Grohl. He was born for this and you can tell he loves every second of it. Thanks to his runway we got a chance to touch him. They covered a pinkfloyd tune and a Tom Petty tune and played close to 3 hours.
It was also significantly louder than portishead or any other show I've seen in recent memory. Really fucking loud.

Do they have a mini stage in the middle of the floor again? I'm desperately trying to get tickets for Friday, but luck seems to be working against me. I'd just go buy them from stubhub or somewhere, BUT some fuckass got my credit card number somehow and has racked up $300 in WoW charges on it. So my bank is going through the whole fraud thing and it's going to take 7-10 days before I'll have a valid credit card in my hands again. If I miss this show because some fucking nerd is out there getting his jollies by banging troll girls on the internet I'm going to fucking rage.
