Here's a video if you're my facebutt friend. (If not and you want to see it, friend me): www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=531302045186&savedLet me know if that link works. Or just go to my profile. Anyway, yeah, absolutely great. They were just totally focused; Beth makes love to the microphone. They're one of those bands where, during the set, you realize that you love every single song they've ever written. This was probably due a little bit to the fact that they only played two songs from Portishead. I like that album, but it's definitely not as strong as Dummy or Third. They opened with "Silence," which is the opener from Third, and they closed with "Threads," the closer on Third. "Threads" has that bombastic guitar riff that slowly repeats over and over at the end, and that part was chilling. Other highlights included "Machine Gun," which is a song that I have a tendency to skip over on the album sometimes because it can be a little tedious, but absolutely crushed me live. The bass was so heavy I could feel my hair floating when it hit. It made me a little nauseous. Most people were plugging their ears. Brilliant. Also the stripped down "Wandering Star" that I took video of. Another highlight was "The Rip," which I think is now my favorite Portishead song. There was an incredible animated scene on the screen, and they moved so smoothly from the understated ballad half to the jam, I just had chills the entire time they played that song. Encore was "Roads" and "We Carry On." It was funny because Beth and Adrian were so focused during the show, rarely making eye contact with the audience or talking. But as soon as Beth finished the last line she jumped off the stage and came down to greet the audience (I was so close to shaking her hand!) and then she got back on stage and was all smiles and kisses, total transformation. One of the best shows I've ever seen. There was a lot of debate about whether they could headline Coachella a few years ago, and Prince was added so they didn't, but I'm convinced they would have pulled it off just fine.

The Black Keys were pretty good. Especially for a parking lot show. saw The Black Keys a month ago... their stage presence has vastly improved since the first time i saw them. They actually seem to enjoy playing live now. Here's a video if you're my facebutt friend. Skrillex tomorrow. Ah hah After seeing Portishead's amazing show last night at the WaMu, I got to thinking about how amazing a show like Skrillex would be there. I would totally go if the tickets weren't so expensive.

Skrillex tomorrow. Ah hah After seeing Portishead's amazing show last night at the WaMu, I got to thinking about how amazing a show like Skrillex would be there. I would totally go if the tickets weren't so expensive. If you buy them at the stadium box office they are only $32 total. I'm honestly beyond excited to see yet again how much more massive his show and crowds have gotten. I find it to be quite fascinating. Last show I saw there was the Killers about 3 years ago so I'm looking forward to going back.

I'm not a fan of skrillex but for his new visual setup + going apeshit with friends = $32 in my book. I like 12th Planet and Foreign Beggars so I could justify going. If I lived within 50 miles of seattle and If I didn't have a midterm on wednesday I would be there.

Eh, I was going to leave Seattle tonight so I don't think I'm gonna go. If I would of known they were so cheap I would have planned on staying longer.

So you guys had fun at Portishead? Did anyone else go? I had a fucking blast. I'm still watching clips of the concert on Youtube. I thought it was interesting how Beth Gibbons started doing that shaking hands with the crowd thing considering she's agoraphobic. Maybe it's a form of psychotherapy. Oh and the crowd was freaking LOUD. They were so excited to be there
