Dear internet:
I apologize my employment has prevented me from writing a "lessons learned" from this misunderstanding until after the worth of this discussion has been deemed inappropriate. However, a lot of posters/lurkers are new to this board, so a reminder of appropriate conduct shouldn't hurt.
As this thread has pointed out, there are many non-offensive ways to incorporate blow-job jokes, even if they lack taste or humor. What you may not know, is context makes a lot of difference. Blow-job suggestions can be very offensive, and are often intended to be. I have witnessed way too many scuffles between meat heads in which attacking a person's sexual preference is standard. "Suck my dick," is synonymous with calling someone gay or a ******. It suggests being homosexual is worthy of being made fun of. Attacking the sexual preference of one of your friends while hanging out in his living room may be an acceptable practice to you. Doing the same to a stranger you think is picking on you on public message board is much different.
The lesson learned with this misunderstanding is some blow-job jokes are acceptable even if in bad taste. If you feel you're being bullied and try to offend someone as retaliation, attacking their sexual preference by asking/telling/suggesting/demanding/begging them to suck your dick is no different than the previously mentioned meathead scuffles. Even though there are many light-hearted comments in this thread suggesting it's fine, questioning someones sexuality as a means to degrade them is not acceptable here, nor is it acceptable IRL.
I understand many people will nod their head while reading this, but some will say, "That's so gay, LOL." This letter is intended for those in between, ie, those who may not know the difference between what is and isn't offensive, and/or those who don't know any better.
The end.
