Has anyone ever gotten a snowman card for Christmas? Those are my favorite.

The Shining is perfect. Everything clicks in that movie. The camera work, the material, the sets, the acting, the music, and the pace always feel like they are one whole organism. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever taken film school (or dabbled on their own), but once you learn the ins and outs of how things are put together, why certain shots are selected, editing, camera moves ect... you can't help but see the whole process piece by piece, shot by shot as you watch a movie. The Shining is still one of the few movies for me where those pieces still bleed into one another. Everything is just so damn cohesive. One of the best paced movies as well. Sucks you right in. (Just wanted to add that my movie experience isn't ruined at all as a result of Film School. I just watch movies in a much different way than I did before I went) I took four or five film classes in college (not enough to qualify for shit) but they're why I watch movies the way I do. I love movies that are deliberate and ambitious, and I love long tracking shots (which is why my favorite movie is Children of Men). But yeah, The Shining is right up my alley - one of my favorites.

Oh my god. I have a thing for post-apocalyptic stories anyway, and so it took me a long time to figure out if I was too biased to have a strong opinion...but it's really one of the most incredible pieces of filmmaking in the twenty-first century, in my opinion, and timeless. Every shot is complete and intentional. Just perfect.

I just came to the realization the other week that post-apocalyptic movies are my absolute favorite. Ever since watching Omega Man as a kid I've been obsessed with the idea of "life after man."
Any of you fans of The Road?

I loved The Road. I always like "game changer" scenarios that enlighten us to the fact that things are only the way we think they are because we are able to perceive them as such, not because they are some sort of rigid Human Law. Great movie.

I think Children of Men is an amazing example of how it's possible for the technical aspect of filmaking to be the primary enhancer of both the story and the characters. The story is pretty straight foward and the acting is solid, but the total audience involvement comes from all those insane tracking and long shots that put you right inside the film. Such a good example of when you do something gimmicky very well, you don't even notice the gimmick. That scene when they are trying to push start the car was so nerve racking in the theatre, I was fucking scared for myself if they didn't get that damn thing going! The long shot at the end is a filmmaking marvel.

Kasabian is on our national flag. Our anthem was just recently changed to "Lost Souls Forever". Our currency is The Kasabian and it is only worth something depending on how drunk you are or how many people are dancing to "Empire" (it is rarely worth something, but it is worth alot when it is!). We speak English, French and Club Foot. Many countries have proclaimed us to be the second coming of the Stone Roses, but we wound up not living up to the hype.

Children of Men is one of the most incredible movies I have ever seen. I loved it.
The Road I'm torn by...one of my favorite books of all time, but I thought the movie was just ok.

Jesus, all this listening to Blur makes me halfway tempted to launch a 90s CUP to give us something to do until the EGG NOG CUP.
SO MANY CUPS.
but i won't do it. I'd lose my mind and waste wayyyy too much time thinking of all the bands to include.

Not likely, considering the one good Stone Roses album was released in 1989.

as much as I love em, i'm not even sure Stone Roses would make it out of the Brit Rock bracket.
