I'm gonna out myself as a total dweeb and admit that I watch Love Actually every Christmas. I am not a chick flick person by any means, but that one does something to me y'know?! ha ha ha, oh my god I love this movie. Where do I trade in my man card?

How will "Specials" work Stamps? Or we just just stickin' to movies? Loved this one as a kid (with music by Harry Nilsson) Then of course the Claymation Special.

still too early to really map it all out, but i imagine half-hour specials will have their own category, as will animated/muppet films.
there'll also be an action, creepy christmas, classic, thanksgiving and several other categories.

anyway, back on topic... Am I the only one who didn't care for the Shining movie? The book was unreal but the movie bored me. I enjoyed the film, obviously the book is better. Still, Jack Nicholson's performance is amazing... I still have no idea how Shelley Duvall ever succeeded in Hollywood.

A) Love Actually rocks. I also approve of the new : man card 2) The Shining movie is brilliant but Shelley Duvall is one of the most heinous looking women Also) Nightmare Before Christmas should qualify for the Egg Nog Cup along with its recent inclusion in the Monster Mash Cup

The Shining is perfect. Everything clicks in that movie. The camera work, the material, the sets, the acting, the music, and the pace always feel like they are one whole organism.
I'm not sure if anyone else has ever taken film school (or dabbled on their own), but once you learn the ins and outs of how things are put together, why certain shots are selected, editing, camera moves ect... you can't help but see the whole process piece by piece, shot by shot as you watch a movie.
The Shining is still one of the few movies for me where those pieces still bleed into one another. Everything is just so damn cohesive. One of the best paced movies as well. Sucks you right in.
(Just wanted to add that my movie experience isn't ruined at all as a result of Film School. I just watch movies in a much different way than I did before I went)
