Is anyone else here into board games at all? You young'uns are probably into that newfangled computer / console game stuff, but old farts like me grew up playing board and card games (when we weren't walking 5 miles to school through the snow, uphill both ways).
I don't actually play games like Monopoly and Risk, I tend to go for hobby / designer games. A few of my faves in no particular order:
Power Grid Arkham Horror Puerto Rico Dominion Dominant Species Ticket to Ride Die Sieben Siegel Steam Hansa Teutonica Alien Frontiers Twilight Struggle Acquire
And before you ask, I don't like Settlers of Catan (it's a good game, I just don't like it), and I rarely play Carcassonne.
I also don't really enjoy bluffing games, so don't get into poker at all. I do play many other card games though, but my friends seem to prefer cardboard to cards.
Any other old-skool gamers out there?

Settlers of Catan is mediocre, but the Knights and Cities version for it is really fun. We play it all the time at work.
It's not a board game, but I got this game called Scribblish for my birthday and it is a fucking riot if you play with people who have a good sense of humor.... and alcohol really helps
The way it works is everyone gets a long sheet of paper that is divided into segments. Everyone draws a card that has some phrases on it. You write down the phrase and then draw a picture of that phrase. Then you scroll the paper up on this clipboard so it hides the phrase and pass it to the next person. They can only see your drawing and then they have to write down what they think the phrase was. Then it gets scrolled up again so you can only see the 2nd phrase and it's passed on and that person draws the 2nd phrase. Wash, rinse and repeat.
The progression of the phrases and drawings is ridiculous. For example: "Robot needs some oil" progressed to "frustrated robot audibly masturbates in the night"

I've heard Knights and Cities is good, but I dislike Catan so much I'm not even willing to try it to be honest.

Finished a game of Monopoly for the first time couple a months ago. Always wanted to do that. (Granted we had to split that into 2 different nights.)

I love board games and card games and am of the opinion that people do not play them enough anymore.
Board games I love:
Sorry - We play this all the time Clue - I can never get anyone to play this with me Balderdash - The original one where you just make up definitions for words Monopoly - See Clue Scrabble - Classic and so fun Trivial Pursuit - See Clue and Monopoly SUVIVRE! - We have played this a couple of times at our friend's house and it is way fun Apples to Apples - I guess it is kind of a card game but I love it and it is good for drinking while playing
Card Games:
Cribbage - I have been playing this since I was a child, we always play it at family get togethers. HG knows how to play now so we play regularly. I am bringing one of my boards to Sasquatch to play in the mornings Dummy Rummy - Just a variation of rummy but it is my fave Phase 10 - Our classic Sasquatch morning game Solitare - Dude, I just like playing solitaire

Balderdash is the best game ever. I love it. I would love to learn how to play cribbage. I remember watching my dad play it all the time when I was a kid. Stormy, can I wander over (stumble over looking like I just got ran over by a bus) to your campsite in the morning and get a free lesson?

Absolutely! I am more than happy to teach the ways of cribbage. That means more people to play with. HG, Rusty, and J Dub also know how so I see some good games happening.

I'm still terrible at counting, I frequently have people point out my counting mistakes, after I've already pegged of course. But I'm trying to get better, practice makes perfect.

My girlfriend and I love crib. We're in the process of creating a bastardization cross game with crib and and snakes and ladders.

Unlike my Grandpa, I always point out if you are forgetting points. It is the only way to learn. Well, that isn't true. If you are learning with the old man, he has you play cutthroat until you learn because you are tired of him getting all of your points.
Sasquatch cribbage meet up!!

Scrabble: great every time. Taboo: a hoot at parties. Apples to Apples: never play with your grandma while stoned.

Oh man I love Taboo! But I am never allowed to be on the same team as HG or my brother because we know each other so well that it is unfair.

Taboo is a great time, although I've had some awkward experiences playing it before. I also love Scattergories a lot.

We always play Scattegories at family shindigs, I really like it. Also we played Boggle last week and that was fun, I hadn't played it in a while.
Pictionary! I love Pictionary.
