Yeah, I only have dominion: Intrigue, which I actually like for multiplayer because it has so many attack cards and thus feels a lot less like solitaire- playing online is crazy though, because you get all the expansions going at once
Power Grid is definitely an awesome game- I've only played it a few times though and never won- my Calgary friends play it way too often. If I'd known you were a gamer I'd have forced you somehow to go to Underground Con a few weeks ago- my friends were organizers and I ran some Dungeons and Dragons at it.

I don't D&D, but I do have an RPG group and we're currently doing a Warhammer: Fantasy Roleplay campaign. I have a soft spot for Call of Cthulhu and Shadowrun, but don't have a group doing either of them at the moment.
I'll try to check out the con next year.

yeah if you want a hookup for Shadowrun PM me- I'm friends with Bruce, who is the shadowrun head honcho for our part of the world.
Why dont' you DnD? I dont' 4th edition, but I used to play a ton of 3.5, in fact, I know so many people because I was the organizer of the Calgary Dungeons and Dragons Meetup Group for a while.

The main reason I don't D&D is that I prefer RPGs that are more story-oriented as opposed to crunchy dice-fests. Shadowrun is one of the exceptions to that rule for me. I really enjoy games where rolling dice happens infrequently and it's more about storytelling / roleplaying. The way my group plays warhammer is kind of a mix and I'm OK with it.
I also enjoy indie / 1 shot things like Sweet Agatha and Dead of Night.

Hmm... I can't imagine Warhammer RPG would be more story oriented than a dice-fest- actually the RP part is why I like DnD so much as a platform- you can go entire sessions without fighting, and then rely on a robust rule system when it comes down to things and the rubber hits the road.
At UndergroundCon we did an Iron GM (yes, like iron chef) competition and my players only had 2 fights, but a lot of storyline and social stuff- and that was in a 1 shot- it was a fun little horror campaign- which is my favorite kind to run.

Ohhhh man. I used to play Shadowrun once a week when I was younger. The GM had all the bells and whistles. Player pieces, laminate grid maps, every single book... ahhhh good times. I actually bought a SNES at a pawn shop a couple years ago because I found and won an ebay bid for the Shadowrun SNES game. It's still the only game I have for it and I'll dust it off and play it once a year.

I really like Blokus, but with all the little translucent pieces it might not be the best game to bring camping.

I also enjoy Blokus, but it totally messes with my OCD brain and when I play it once I'll spend days and days thinking about putting down translucent pieces of plastic in my head. It's a horrible horrible thing.

I played a lot of Blokus when it first arrived on the scene, but I dont' think I've played it even once in the past 2 years for whatever reason.
As for the Warhammer dice fest / story thing, the new edition of warhammer encourages you to storytell a lot more even during combat due to the way the dice work. It does largely depend on your group, as with D&D though.

When I was back on the east coast visiting some friends, I got to be a guest character in their Buffy the Vampire Slayer campaign. I was pleasantly surprised by how terrible it wasn't. It also seemed fairly story driven, but I imagine that if you wanted it to be all about combat you could easily accomplish that. They had a mechanism in the game called Drama points that basically let you do otherwise impossible or at least unlikely things which lends a little more spark to the game and makes for more dynamic combat. My older brothers have always been D&D players so that was pretty much the only tabletop gaming I had played until recently, so the change was pretty interesting.

Wow I knew this thread existed! I was just reading some Wil Wheaton blog and he recommended this game: cardsagainsthumanity.com/They let you download the cards so I printed some out on card stock and I'm bringing 'em with me. Anybody ever played it?

But we did play Monopoly for like four hours a couple weeks ago.
EDIT: I just went to that site. It kind of looks like Apples to Apples in a way.

I bet Stormy knows Sorry! inside and out because I sent her two coloured blobs on Draw Something meant to be the Sorry! pegs and she guessed that the blobs were Sorry! pegs straight away. I was major impressed.
