Almost everything video games is going to shit. Thief 4 is basically Thief 4:Call of Duty; Modern Thiefware 3, Company of Hero is an epic failure in Beta, all the Consoles are QUICK TIME EVENT TO WIN! Casualized shit. I don't really know what do believe anymore. PC gamer alert.

PC Gaming>Consoles Deal with it.
Also.
Someone in the game I was playing today used Dr. Garbanzionski's real name and lived in Washington but wasn't Dr Garbanzionski

PC Gaming>Consoles Deal with it. I understand the logic of people liking PC gaming more, but geez PC gamers sure love to gloat about their personal preferences regarding something that doesn't affect other people. I can't think of another group of people who are more outwardly hostile towards others (referring to general internet people, not you goldbeard) just because they use a different platform to access the same thing as them. It's like if you and a neighbor both just got a new car, and you think yours is nicer, so every time you see him leave his house you shout at him all the reasons you like yours more. Nobody cares!

I was just about to type up a similar post, but you pretty summed it up pretty well. I mean I'm a PC gamer too, but the majority of PC users are unbearable with their unwarranted elitist attitudes. There's seriously no reason for it.

I just like to play games...whether it's on the Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo or PC. I never understood the bullshit of fanboy-ism. With that being said, it is true that old tech in console can hold back multiplatform games. I'm stoked to see optimization for next-gen console reflect optimization in PC versions...especially considering how similar the tech is now! I already preordered a PS4 and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm looking forward to having more games to play for the Wii U too. As for now...I'm completely mesmerized (and terrified) by The Last of Us.

I signed up for Gamefly last week, and I honestly have no fucking clue why it took me so long to do that. I hardly every play any video games that aren't Mario Kart because I have always had a hard time justifying spending sixty fucking dollars on something that I'll use for roughly ten hours and then never look at again. Sometimes I'd play a game and then trade it in for credit at GameStop and put it toward something else, but that system doesn't work very well when there generally aren't that many games I feel like playing.
TL;DR -- I've played through 90% of The Last of Us since Friday evening. It's one of the greatest games I've ever played. It's a zombie stealth/shooter from the game studio that made the Uncharted games -- also among the greatest games I've ever played, each and all. I'm so fucking enthusiastic about it, I can't stop thinking about it.

Ya, I'm trolling craigslist right now looking for a reasonably priced used copy. I just can't justify the cost of a brand new game, but I have to play it...

I haven't owned a console since the original Xbox for that reason, although I have still played quite a few games on my parents PS3. But the way people talk about The Last of Us ( and some other recent ones) it makes me seriously consider getting one of the new consoles. It seems like they are really starting to target non-gamers...or maybe with the three big systems, there is just really enough choices for every one. If I was going to buy one of the new consoles, which would you guys recommend?

PS3 has been really good to me. I imagine you're talking next gen though? I believe the consensus (pre-release date) is that PS4 won the war this go around, but only time will tell.

Finally got Starcraft 2: HotS working again on my computer. Turns out I hadn't upgraded my OS since 2009. Whoops.
Yes I know I am a gaming caveman. FOR AIUR!

The thought of buying a PS4 just makes me cringe, but I know I will eventually. The PS3 is a helluva system. Really great.
I got no love for the Xbox, but it's definitely for more serious gamers than myself. Rusty, if you've missed the last ten or so years of console games, I strongly suggest you just get a PS3. They're probably hella cheap by now, and they'll be even cheaper very soon. Play the Batman/Arkham games, the Uncharted games, maybe Bioshock -- you'll be entertained for a long, long time.

I just bought myself a PS3 the other day through my Gamestop friend, and I'll be picking it up on Thursday along with The Last of Us. I know absolutely nothing about it aside from the E3 gameplay video they showed off last year. It's been getting extremely good reviews though. It's already the second highest rated game of this generation next to Grand Theft Auto IV according to Metacritic. Really excited to start playing it.

Also, PS3 definitely has the best exclusives between the two.
