I don't see how they positioned themselves as any less game-focused as the PS4 did. Sure they didn't have as many game reveals, but they're clearly focused on having great games. They focused more than half the presentation on games alone, and they didn't even show off a bunch of lame Kinect shit. 8 exclusive new blockbuster IP's, and 15 total exclusives in the first year is a pretty big deal.
I was thinking I might lean PS4 if I didn't like what I saw in the Xbox, but I was impressed today. It seems like they have everything that Sony offered plus a lot more. It also looks like their hardware might be better/easier to program for since it runs on windows 8 and it'll be easy to develop for/port from PC games.
I also have more friends that have Xbox, so that's a major factor as well.

E3 is right around the corner so I think they're just waiting to talk about all the games there. I personally don't play many games these days so the home entertainment features are actually more exciting than anything else. I was happy enough with the presentation but I doubt I'll buy one right out the gate.

Not too impressed with anything Microsoft is doing with the xbox, nothing they showed is enough to make me waver from my previous perception...
I will be sticking with sony this go around, the ps4 seems to offer me what I loved in the PS3 with none of the drawbacks that kept me away from the Xbox360...

Kingdom Hearts 3. Holy shit.
You guys have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. It's been almost 10 years since Kingdom Hearts II was released, and we FINALLY have a confirmation that they're working on a new one.

Those 30 seconds of Battlefront made me giddy as a schoolgirl. I hope it's cross-platform, because I really don't want to buy an XB1.

I'm probably going to make my choice depending on what my friends buy, I'm still not sold on either console right now. What does make me happy is that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be on XB1 as well, so I could play it regardless. Lots of other great looking games were announced yesterday for both consoles as well. I'm just excited to get my hands on them, whichever system I end up getting!

I will probably pre-order a ps4, the XB1 is everything I don't want in a console, and $100 more expensive to boot. I don't mind being the odd man out like I was this generation with my wii and ps3, my friends can enjoy their CoD and Battlefront and I will enjoy my smugness and not having to endlessly grind FPS games that I can't stand. I really like what I have seen from Watch Dogs, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, and even Destiny, the game from santa monica studios looks pretty intriguing as well.

The only reason being it was one of the few games that they didn't say were "PS4 exclusive". That could be because it's not far enough in development to determine what platform it will be on, or it could be getting a Wii U release as well. We'll have to wait and see. I'm sure it'll be 2-3 years before it's released.

I knew it was only a matter of time before it came out that most of what Sony is saying is bullshit: kotaku.com/aaaaaaaaand-sony-is-doing-exactly-what-xbox-1-is-doing-512646337Not saying that the PS4 isn't better than XB1 but most of the DRM decisions were not decided because Microsoft wants them, they're being done because EA and Activision want them. Pretty soon we'll find out that the PS4 "works" without online activation but you lose half of its functionality.

EA and to a lesser extent Activison have taken the stance of companies whom don't aim to please the customer beyond first day sales. Of course they are going to push for restrictive DRM, they've sunk too many resources into it to backtrack now..
Sony has taken the stance that they aren't putting up any walls to block functionality of games as a publisher and developer beyond having a ps+ account for multiplayer online play, all other features will be accessible by anyone. As in, gamers won't have to "register" games, they won't have to "check in" before playing single player, and games aren't restricted to unique consols/gamer accounts.
Personally, I thought that the xbox 360 was an abomination, from the RLOD fiasco to having 500 SKU's to having to pay to access subscriptions that are already paid for(x-box live gold to watch netflix), to the online environment infested with hackers/children/immature gamers etc...I owned the first xbox and loved it, then while researching what console to buy years ago Sony impressed me in every facet of the gaming/entertainment experience, it appears that the PS4 offers everything I want in a console with none of the fluff or restrictions that the XBone does so once again I will be going with Sony.
I don't blame anyone for staying loyal to a company but to see Microsoft cave to publishers and come out and basically say "This is how it going to be, deal with it" while trying to lead the industry from a first hand user experience to a passive user experience is disheartening and I am glad that Sony at the worst is "pretending" to stand up to that mentality.

Look, I don't have any skin in the fight, I'm most likely not buying any next gen console any time soon. What bothers me is the way that gamers have rallied around Sony as some kind of altruistic company who really cares about gamers, to the exclusion of any evidence to the contrary. 2 days ago it was "well PSN+ isn't necessary to play online!", now it's "well I can still watch Netflix for free!" Now it's coming out that Sony is also going to allow publishers to do whatever they want with used games. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this exactly what Microsoft did? It's up to the publisher to decide whether to implement these policies. This strikes me as Sony playing with technicalities in their announcement as a way of pretending like they are better than Microsoft while implementing almost identical policies. It won't shock me if more and more of these claimed benefits get eroded over the next few months.
My whole point is that they're both full of shit and it seems like people have lost perspective on that.

I respect that stance. You are right in that it seems like it will be a pick between the lesser of two evils situation in which the consumer will have to pick a preference in what system offers the least amount of disadvantages from their standpoint than choosing based on which offers the most advantages. You are also right in the fact that the race is far from over and the perceived "winner" is bound to change a hundred and one times between now and the end of this generation, in the end it will comedown to consumer preference like these things always do.

Almost everything video games is going to shit. Thief 4 is basically Thief 4:Call of Duty; Modern Thiefware 3, Company of Hero is an epic failure in Beta, all the Consoles are QUICK TIME EVENT TO WIN! Casualized shit. I don't really know what do believe anymore.

I don't really know what do believe anymore. If you really pick and choose what you play, there's a lot of well crafted, well written, amazing games out there. You just need to not get your hopes up too high for anything, it seems like in the video games industry there are very few games that live up to the hype.
