Arcade Fire confirmed at Oxygen Festival which takes place in early july in Ireland, they are also strongly rumored for Lollapalooza which is in early Aug. My bet, they go through Europe in late June/July (possibly starting with a Glastonbury sub headlining set) hitting all those fests and don't hit the US until Lolla. Bummer, but it was a pipe dream to believe they would have been added in all reality. (maybe Bumbershoot?)

yeah when I went to Pemberton in Canada (which was distributed by a different company) I remember it being pretty similar but when I went to Roskilde in Denmark the tickets were about $300 and they only hit us with about $6 in service fees (which included the mailing of the tickets)... either it costs 4x more to internationally distribute tickets out of north america or someone's up to something...

In all fairness using ticketmaster is about as "convenient" of ticket buying experience as I could ever hope for, they really run a tight ship over there....

Sorry dude, but his comments pissed me off as well. ...and you of all people should appreciate being easily aggravated by things written on a messageboard. Hell yeah! I do! I'm saying, let's start a Seattle Vancouver rumble! dun dun dun dun dun Not to sound like a dick but this argument is stupid. Do you really think bands are saying to themselves "oh I can't skip Seattle, think of their contribution to the music world?" NO! When a manager/agent maps out a tour they pick the venues that will get the band the most money (within reason) so it very well could be that The Showbox or Neumos or any other venue that they wanted to play already had a band booked for that date.....so what's a manager to do? Do they book a gig at a venue that will pay them half as much or do they drive two hours north and play a Vancouver venue that isn't booked already. It not personal when the band skips your city, its simply business.

That was of the most brutal decisions I've ever made at a fest, I went with the national and saw one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen that turned the national into one of my favorite modern bands and I still made it back for the end of MM....but in the end I think I would have been happy either way, so you can't really loose.

I don't think we're a very good cross section of the average Sasquatch fan, most of of the people I'm going with are pretty pumped for Kid Cudi and MGMT, two acts that have not got much attention on this board (really the only time we talk about MGMT is to discuss how much they suck live)....but I think our reaction to the lineup is similar aka positive

I caught NIN last year (does that count as a headliner) and yeah I saw all of them in 08.....those are the only two years I've been so I'm relativity new but this year I'll probably be at all of them (unless we leave after MGMT)

No one has mentioned but Jonsi is playing Coachella, just for arguments sake of who has the stronger lineup.
With that being said I do think Coachella has the stronger lineup BUT Coachella does 60,000 people a day as opposed to Sasquatch's 22,000, which to me matters a lot. Coachella also costs as extra 30-40 bucks, not big of a deal when you think of how much you spend in general on a festival (food, drink, travel) but it all adds up. If I had it my way I'd go to both but being that I'll be in the UK in April thats not going to happen, so I'll stick with Sasquatch and be happy about it.

last year scalpers were selling sat for about 100, sun for like 130 and then my guy bought a monday tix for 20 bucks....if you plan on selling your monday tixs do it early, by the time monday rolls around and people decide they want to leave there pretty useless.

I'm not trolling you I8 and I'm not trying to be an asshole. I was just pointing out you tend to overreact when you disagree with someone about music or music related things. I guess I did it the wrong way. But it was meant to be light hearted, whatever way it was taken, I'm sorry.

yeah dude maybe your right and my music taste just isn't up to your par, I try to make to to three or four fests a year though and sasquatch always seems to have by far the worst conflicts, that also could just be just my music taste (you were also comparing those who play the side stages late in the evening/night to those that open the main, thus proving my point). your response was pretty funny from my perspective though, based on my knowledge of you though this message board I'm just curious, have you ever threatened to hit your girlfriend because she she put on trendy/popular music when the two of you were in the car?

On a side note that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread (but rather the idea of it, my apologies) my biggest problem with sasquatch (besides all that no reentry bullshit) is that the stages are set up as a hierarchy of bands. The larger acts play the main, the new buzz bands/indie acts play the wookie and the smaller bands play the Yeti. The schedules are then designed to rank the bands in the order that sasquatch views their popularity. This bugs me for two reasons, one you inevitably get a bunch of conflicts at the end of the day which we are seeing here, but even more than that it turns the event into more of a "concert" than a "festival." What I mean by this is at other festivals i've attended a lot of the fun comes in wondering from stage to stage and catching some good mid days acts before going back to the campground and resting up for the headliners. It would be cool if sasquatch put some of the bigger wookie acts on during the early part of the day, then faded into some weaker ones then maybe closed out with a big one. Same thing with the Yeti. I also think some smaller bands on the main in exchange for some larger bands on the Wookie would add to the festival feel of catching different acts in different stages (giving the feel of a different venue).....well thats my rant....take to for what its worth.
oh and for the record I'm most concerned about the dr.dog/camera obscura vs. Band of Horses/MGMT situation

Who: My Morning Jacket Where: Pemberton When:08 When I saw this show I knew very little about the band except in an article I had come across online where the band was praised for their live ability. I saw about an hour set with my good friend who has very different music taste than I do (well I go nuts for some flaming lips he'd be drooling over them crooked vultures) we both found the performance to be outstanding. The band plays very tight and Jim James brings his heart and soul to every song. This is one act anyone would be a fool to miss. you used to post on the pemberton board, right? I thought I recognized the screen name. I was Ander on that board (and many others) for sure, man I miss that festival....anyone who talked bad about it was crazy!

Who: MGMT Where: Roo' When: Last year The main feature of their show that will surprise you is that it really isn't a dance party at all, they play it much more like a rock show. This could have to do with the bands love of classic rock but more likely it is due to the fact that the duo themselves have the raw musical talent and stage presence of a 12 year old (their talent comes in their song writing ability). Columbia records ain't no fool though and realized that these two will sell tickets like the jonas brothers, thus they matched them up with one of the best lead guitarists you'll hear as part of a damn good backing band. The show lacks inspiring moments and really plays as a solute to the album itself. With that being said the talent of the backing band holds the whole ordeal together and anyone who considerers themselves a fan of there music will enjoy themselves. Who: Neon Indian Where: Rockbar, South Beach When:Last fall I went to this show which was billed as a release party for a band I have worked very closely with as a music business college student/intern at several miami based record labels (awesome new republic, check em out). I knew very little about the band except they were tagged "the next big thing" and had great buzz about them. Several songs into the set I found myself very disappointed, maybe it was the mix, maybe I was tired (they played second and in miami things start late) but I would have similar complaints about them that people normally express about animal collective. Dead noise and songs that feel like they are going nowhere. ANR (my band) rocked it on the other hand so personally I don't think the venue was to blame. I know it has been mentioned already but other acts I have seen that you can't miss are the national, band of horses, and Dr. Dog....I don't want you to think I'm all negative after writing those reviews I was just trying to pick bands people hadn't put very solid reviews of yet.

one thing i saw is there is a lot of dance music...what are the odds we get late night sets from say MGMT/Passion Pit/A-track/deadmau5/maybe even LCD after the headliner? they said they would expand the dance tent....
