I asked one of the crew the first day they were setting up the tent and she told me no tickets necessary, just wait in line before the showing. Least she could have done is say she didn't know ask someone else. She was more concerned that we not talk to or approach Wayne who was standing right behind her. We did get in thanks to the nice door man that let us stand in the back. Of course another crew member tried to kick us out and started harassing us til the door man told him to cool it. Organized chaos my ass.

I'm also "bumbed" about this. I mean it all around sucks because these were the big 3 for me seriously. Mars Volta, Ghostland Observatories, and Flaming Lips. I can't miss ANY of the UFO show. But it would be my first time for both of the others. But luckily I can see Mars Volta at ACL Fest. So my plan is to try to catch the start of all 3 bands.

3 I'll be in the beer garden for: You can drink anywhere right? So why not check out a side stage while drinking? Oh and to get the shit stirring. You're list sucks.

This is great news. I just hope it doesn't clash with any bands I wanted to see.

I finally just emailed the contact from the website and asked. What I got from his vague answer; no idea why this guy feels the need to be so vague in every response, but from what I could decipher;
the accessible seating is located behind VIP seating.

Modest Mouse is always hit or miss. Either Isaac Brock is too drunk, sloppy and pissy; too sober and totally dead; or just right so you have a 1 out of 3 chance. I've seen them six times over a ten year period and only twice were they spot on so that's about right.

Do they usually announce the line up by day before tickets go on sell or are you supposed to guess/put it together yourself?

Taken from the FlamingLips.com
"It is not intended for 'Christmas on Mars' to be released at conventional movie theaters. Instead, a DVD release will be preceeded by a number of screenings at rock venues. In true Flaming Lips style, the plan is to use more than the standard movie screening equipment and turn each screening into 'a big visceral event'. Speaking to mtv.com, Wayne has explained, "We want to show the movie with a mega-sound system and snow machines and just make it like a bigger event than what has become the typical movie-going experience. I'm hoping that people can watch this movie while they drink beer, smoke cigarettes, and have a good time.""
So now I'm leaning toward the notion of it being Main Stage but not as set filler. This sounds like its going to get the full Flaming Lips treatment.

Eww I hope not. 20 minute installments, again, during daylight, would be no way to premiere a movie. Now that I know there's a chill out tent that seems the only way to go.

It is strange it receives a billing ahead of Cold War Kids but chill out tent makes much more sense to me. It wouldn't even be dark by that time anyway. Do they show something every night at the chill out tent? First timer here so I didn't know such a thing existed.

Any idea where and when they'll be debuting it. I mean are they going to show it during the Cure cause who's going to watch a video you'll be able to download in a month rather than see a live performance.

Any chance to see Jenny Lewis in hot pant or whatever other hot number she decides on would be fine by me.

Are you basing everything on 2007 Saturday night cause that hasn't been the norm. 2005 Schedule2006 Schedule2007 Schedule there is a major difference this year... 1 less mainstage act. Last year, there were 10 mainstage acts. 2007 Sunday had 9. 2006 Saturday and Sunday had 9. 2005 had 9. Last year, both Bjorks and Beastie Boys solo shows usually clocked in around an hour and half. This year, we KNOW the Cure are getting 2.5 hours. Also, REM played for 2 hours (possibly loonger) at Langerado this year. Also, the Flaming Lips solo shows usually last around 2-2.5 hours. And those are just the headliners. When I saw Modest Mouse a couple years ago, they played around 2 hours. Also, Mars Volta solo shows usually last around 2.5-3 hours. I also hear a rumour The Mars Volta has said they are now only going to play festivals where they get a garunteed at least hour and half. Nine Inch Nails and Beck got 1.5 hours too and they usually play longer. Festival shows are usually shorter sets than solo shows. I don't doubt the last acts could be receiving longer sets this year but if anything that will make the opening main acts play the same as previous years or shorter not longer as you have them doing. Keep in mind they could always go past midnight.

I think Breeders as the Wookie stage closer would make sense looking at the 2007 schedule.
And looking at the old schedule...I know they're just projections you made (kudos by the way for putting it together) but I'd guess the times to be similar to last years accept for the Cure getting 2 hours because of it being a rescheduled performance.
Here's what 2007 acts set time durations were not scheduled both days
Main Stage 1:30 1:15 1:15 1:00 1:00 0:50 0:50 0:45 0:30 0:35
Wookie Stage 1:00 1:00-0:50 1:00-0:50 0:50 0:50 0:50 0:50
Yeti Stage 0:45 0:45 0:45 0:45 0:45 0:45 0:45

Have seen both and for me the Decemberists win hands down. If you saw them before Crane's Wife was released I think you'll be surprised.
