The problem was running across town to catch someone because you bought a wristband, only to find out the show was sold out and you don't get to see it and then it's too late for you to go back to the other show and fuck all of this. This is a good point. Thankfully I only experienced this once in my 4 years attending MFNW.

Music Fest NW posted a teaser video on Facebook today that says the lineup is coming soon. Considering their earlier announcement that lineup and ticket info will come at the end of April, unless they go full Pemberton and wait, more information will come out next week. All we know so far is that Alan Jackson is not playing (watch the video). I kind of thought Death Cab might headline as they're definitely popular and MNFW will probably want to make a splash in the first year with their new format. They're playing Maha Festival in Omaha on Saturday, April 16th (the first day of MFNW). I'm still pouting about the new format. I thought running across town from venue to venue at wee hours of the night was what made MFNW stand out from other music festivals. Not too mention the free shows during the day at the Doug Fir.

What's with the recent odd spots for hip hop shows in Portland lately? Schoolboy Q at the Crystal and now Mobb Deep at the Doug Fir.

My list after I feel like I've gotten to know most on the jeffup: 1. the National 2. Chance the Rapper 3. Outkast (they were at the top until they shat themselves at Coachella- we'll see if they rally) 4. Phantogram 5. Cage the Elephant 6. Portugal. the Man 7. Rodriguez 8. Cut Copy 9. Papa 10. Crystal Fighters If anyone needs any convincing that the National are going to kick absolute ass live (I know I did) then I would direct you towards this live set, particularly the last three songs. I had misgivings given their mellow and subdued style but its clear Matt just absolutely just takes their songs and rides them into sweet sonic bliss. Do you really have a Austin Rivers GIF? You're the worst type of mammal.

Im alive. Another amazing weekend down in the desert. Initial thoughts: -Outkast was dog shit. Can't begin to explain how disappointing that was. Looks like this summer is all about cashing them cheques for Andre. At least Big Boi brought it. The Future guest spot might have been the worst 15 minutes of the weekend. -Arcade Fire was amazing. Oh wow, a band that actually kept playing after their allowed time. -Busta Fuckin Rhymes. Dude absolutely destroyed it during Girl Talk. Asap Rocky during Skrillex and Gwen Stefani during Pharell. -Chromeo was phenomenal as expected. The Knife were dumb as hell. As expected. -Future Islands, Capital Cities, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Kid Cudi, CHVRCHES, Trombone Shorty and the preservation hall band were some of the other highlights Can you elaborate on The Knife being dumb as hell? I didn't catch the live steam and never seen them live but I've never heard anything negative about their live performances.

Killer Mike retweeted am Instagram picture of him with Big Boi and Andre today. I know they're friends and they were probably just hanging out, but I took it as confirmation that he was rehearsing to join them at Sasquatch. Now that would be amazing. I've seen Killer Mike twice the last year or so, once in support of R.A.P. Music and the other for Run the Jewels. Absolutely incredible shows. Even at the god awful Hawthorne.

The schedule was released around this time last year, right? Hopefully we see it soon. I can't remember the exact date but it seems like it came out earlier than this.

So it's cool to hate Mack now (again?)? I can never keep up with the "in" feelings about him so I'll settle for fond ambivalence. If he shows up it will probably be fun. I don't keep up with the "in" feelings about the guy I just think he's an absolute mockery of hip hop and I don't get the obsession with him. People blowing up over "Same Love" like it's something new when The Roots, Mos Def, Tribe, etc have been talking about the same sort of social issues in a much deeper context for years. He's essentially the new age Vanilla Ice, Sir Mix A Lot, etc. "Rap" music for white people who don't like rap music. Not too mention some of his fans are the most ignorant assholes I've ever came across. A few years back at MFNW, I went to go see Shabazz Palaces who were opening for him at the Roseland and about 3 songs into their set the entire lower bowl started booing and chanting Macklemore! End of rant.

Macklemore's going to be having a big pizza party with his fans in Seattle a few days before Sasquatch, so he'll be in the area around then. Pretty likely that he'll show up for OutKast's set. If this talent less asshole ruins the Outkast set by showing up I'm going to rage.

The Antlers have shows in Vancouver and Seattle in July, but they're skipping Portland. I'm officially rumoring them for MFNW. Unfortunately MFNW made a huge mistake by moving the once great and unique festival to the waterfront. Seeing The Antlers at the Doug Fir again would have been incredible.

Having a 2nd weekend a month away from weekend 1 and during a major holiday was always a questionable move. That being said, I'm extremely shocked sales were so low given how incredible that lineup was.
Let's bring back the 4th day to May now please and try to bring some of the July acts over.

I showed up for the last 10 minutes of her set that year and was so confused as to what was going on, but it looked like fun. I'm not a fan, but I will try to not miss her set this year as I am assuming it will be another spectacle. I wasn't really a fan either until I finally listened to Matangi a couple weeks ago. Holy fuck, that album is good. It seriously makes me want to go back and edit my "best of 2013" lists to include it because it definitely was if the of last year. Hands down the most underrated album of 2013 in my opinion. She should put on a great show in May.

R.I.P. bambam 8 posts We hardly knew ye, and barely wanted to. Whoa whoa whoa, I'm not going anywhere. I've just been busy with work so I haven't posted lately. Upper management says we need to spend more time being productive and not on various message boards...nazi's.

Interrupting Doug Martsch should be a crime. In a similar vein, I saw James Blake a few months ago and half of the shitbags there were talking so loud during every fucking song. He makes to most delicate, beautiful music and the crowd absolutely fucking ruined every single song. I will never forget the girl in front of me who was informing her friend of the difference between stage left and the audience left in the middle of a slow, quiet, beautiful solo by James, and it killed ma little bit inside. It was so disrespectful and it made me ashamed to be a part of the crowd. This happened the first time I saw him at the Wonder Ballroom. This girl was running her mouth about how she didn't take the morning after pill on time and she hopes she isn't pregnant because the guy is unemployed, has a criminal record but has a abnormally large dick so she continues to hook up w him. I've never thought of striking a woman until that night.
