I'm more concerned about a possible conflict between Panda Bear and Deafheaven. After consulting with last year's schedule, it seems pretty damn likely, especially if Cut Copy are indeed a late night set.
...rage.

...except those last three didn't perform. C'mon, Snacks.
Chance is fantastic live, btw. Very high energy, the backing band is sweet, and several songs, like Everything's Good, are a bit more up-tempo and fun. Bouncing around to Acid Rap in the midday sun at the Gorge will be...awesome. Also, Chance>>Mogwai>>Die Antwoord...shit's gonna get freaky at the Bigfoot.
So's long as we're talking about who will and won't be at these shindigs, what do people think of the chances of Queens bringing out a guest? Lanegan? Dare I say it, - Grohl? Not especially likely, I guess, but damn would it be great.

They've been around for a while, their last album was widely considered to be their best This is not a real thing. Caught me. More accurately: their last album received generally positive reviews, but you can say that about most of their records, really. I actually thought Trouble was pretty bland at first but it's grown on me like a motherfucker. Also, thank you crouton. You've always been a friend to me in salads, glad to see that relationship extends to music as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm pretty stoked about festival homework these next couple months. I guess sooner or later somebody should start up a "Tell us about the lineup" thread. July is exactly twice as good. Is anyone else surprised The National is billed so high? Considering they're billed so high at Primavera, not really. They've been around for a while, their last album was widely considered to be their best, and they're a killer live band. But I see your point. As much as I dig them and are excited for a headlining set, they're probably May's weakest top billing act.

Just May for me.
1. Outkast 2. The National 3. Queens of the Stone Age 4. Panda Bear 5. Deafheaven 6. Mogwai (hope they make it, this time!) 7. Chance the Rapper 8. Liars 9. Shakey Graves 10. Tyler the Creator
I need some serious starting point info for any and all of: Cut Copy, Foals, Phantogram, Phosphorescent, Violent Femmes, Elbow.

Squamish will definitely sell out, exactly for the reason you said davers: first-timers. People who would never even think of going to a music festival will go to this one because of Eminem and Bruno Mars, primarily. People who have never been are more willing to drop big money for an infrequent luxury. At least, based on what I've seen/heard.
For context: presale sold out in twenty minutes. I expect general sale to go in less.

Panda Bear will melt my heart, and even then, just by looking in my general direction.
Hearing Sunbather at the Gorge, presumably in the midday sun = brain explode.
Basically, organs are going up in flames.

Yeah. July has a marginally stronger undercard, less "mindie" bands as they are being referred to. It's really hard to make broad generalizations about either lineup though - I honestly feel as though they each contain something for the various types of Squatchers.
July did do a better job of obtaining bands that aren't playing other festivals, especially with dem headliners. I'm lucky that Kraftwerk and New Order are two bands I've always heard are fantastic but never got around to checking out. I'm also one of three people to have never listened to In the Aeroplane over the Sea to completion, which aside from essentially discrediting everything I have to say about music, also saves me some pain at missing NMH.
May's headliners are three groups I absolutely love, and that hasn't happened to me since 2010. Both the National and Queens I've seen before, but saying they're both excellent live bands doesn't do them justice. Outkast is throwing a party at the Gorge and everybody's invited.
