Ok, here's this year's competition thread. I took Drew's (and fox's, I guess) past rules and tweaked them a bit for the new 2 lineup deal: Guess up to 28 bands. The limit has been increased this year since there will be two unique lineups unveiled. Doesn't matter if they're big or small, tall or short, whoever gets the most right, wins! Bonuses: you can put a "headliner" designation next to up to six of your bands. If that band is on the lineup and a headliner, you get two points. [i.e. "1. Pulp (headliner)"] You can also put “May” or “July” next to any of the bands on your list. If that band is on the lineup for the month you guessed, you get a bonus point. So, if I put “Daft Punk (headliner, May)” on my list and it turns out they are headlining in May, I would get three points. But if they’re headlining on the July lineup, I’d only get two points. Feel free to use any of gabfrab’s confirmations, but these bands will only be worth half a point. (Using headliner or May or July next to them could give you a point advantage over someone else though.) For ease of reference, here’s the list of those confirmed by gabfrab: Deafheaven The National Deltron 3030 w/ Orchestra (July) Waxahatchee Portugal. The Man Action Bronson (July) Junip (July) Foxygen (July) Of Montreal (July) Post your guesses in this thread. I don't want all those PMs. The deadline is Sunday, February 2nd at 11:59pm PST. Edit your list as many times as like until then as well. However, in the event of a tie, the earliest finalized post is the winner. It seems like the lineup announcement will be on Feb. 4th (thanks again, gabfrab!) but if that date changes, the deadline will then be 11:59pm of the day before. Launch party is on Feb. 3rd, deadline has been updated to reflect that. First place will get a victory fistpoop and the chance to slappa da bag with me at this year’s fest(s) . Second place gets sloppy seconds on that fistpoop and bag. Good luck! edit: I am not changing the prizes to account for the , that is what you'll get if you win. Deal with it.

Are we allowed to guess comedians?

Are we allowed to guess comedians? I think that if their name is on the lineup poster, they should count!

Are we allowed to guess comedians? I don't see why not. You can even put May or July next to 'em too.

You can go ahead and make Deltron 3030 a confirmed Julysquatch appearance, as the email so generously provided indicated they'd be playing the 5th.
Alrighty.
Queens of the Stone Age (headliner, May) The Knife (headliner, May) The Flaming Lips (headliner, May) Neutral Milk Hotel (headliner, July) Outkast (headliner, July) Skrillex (headliner, July) HAIM (May) City and Colour (May) The National (May) MGMT Broken Bells Lorde Chance the Rapper Big Business Beach House Sleigh Bells Mogwai (May) The War on Drugs (July) Foster the People Titus Andronicus Deafheaven (May) BADBADNOTGOOD Disclosure Darkside Fuck Buttons (May) James Blake Flatbush Zombies Young the Giant
Really couldn't decide between Queens of the Stone Age and Pearl Jam. But I think they're both a likely straight-up rock headliner.
How do you make up for cake-crashing Wayne's diatribes in 2011? Throw the motherfucker a headlining sized bone in 2014. I don't know why this has never really occurred to me before. Providing the Snacks/Coyne relationship isn't totally ruined, the Flamers would be a pretty safe-yet-satisfying choice to headline. And it's really the only place they could be on the lineup after opening for MM in 2011.
Something that bugs me is that Broken Bells are on the second line of the Coachella lineup. Traditionally, these acts can and have headlined Sasquatch (as with Postal Service and Sigur Ros last year.) I know I'd be mighty disappointed if a top spot was given to Broken Bells...
Probably'll tweak this a couple times in the next few weeks. I think I'm realizing that the choice between May and July probably won't be as clear cut as I'm hoping it'll be. Tears will likely be shed.

Good point. But it's not inconceivable. Last year the only exclusives were Macklemore and Mumford...but yeah, hopefully Snacks pulls out the big guns with exclusivity. Considering, yknow, he went to the trouble of creating another festival and all. It's things like that which make me flip over to the Pearl Jam theory...who, incidentally, have no scheduled North American dates for 2014 as of yet.

What about bonus points for guessing late-night sets? Since that kinda info doesn't generally become clear until the schedule is out, I'm gonna go with no. You can leave your late night guesses though, and if/when they come true, you'll still get the bragging rights for calling it first.

This doesn't make any sense, but please be right. If an extreme metal band like Deafheaven can make the cut it does make the possibilities far more interesting. But is Alcest Pitchfork approved?

I hope you are wrong, nick. Except for the metal and Robyn. Me too, dood. As for Alcest, P4K's given their albums 6.0, 8.4, and 6.9 respectively, but with their new (excellent) album coming out soon they might be able to hop on the Hipster-Heavy bandwagon with Deafheaven. I know it's a long shot though.
