Yeah, it must be a really tough life when you're in your third decade as a band and all you can release is a great album (Sonic Nurse), a good album (Rather Ripped), and a decent one (The Eternal).

I've heard if you say Devendra Banhart five times fast in the dark you'll summon a bowl of Okra.

They're playing out in Minneapolis in a few weeks and Marriages were half the reason I'm going to the show in the first place. I haven't really cared about TMV since Deloused but I figured seeing Omar for 15 bucks was worth it.

Can anyone explain the enduring popularity of the Black Crowes to me?

The way I see it is right now they have way too many hip hop artists on the lineup for there to not be a Maine Stage again, otherwise the other three stages would be over-saturated with that genre, given that this is an alternative-based festival. I don't know how they'd change the orientation of the Maine Stage to cut down on the noise pollution with the Bigfoot stage and Banana Shack in relatively close proximity. Most if not all of the acts on the Maine are very bass-heavy and that noise is going to bleed over into other areas no matter what. There's like 10 rap acts on the lineup. That comes to a grand total of 2.5 a day. I think the festival can maintain it's identity (your description is horseshit but i digress) and still host 1 rap act on each stage per day.

If you're asking if Kendrick is going to show up randomly to play with Ab-Soul and Schoolboy, that's not gonna happen. Kendrick would be way up on the poster if he was playing. I guess you could get a Jay Rock appearance but that wouldn't really be that exciting.
They usually bill it as a Black Hippy performance if that's what they're actually doing. Look at the Paid Dues poster for an example.

I miss the days when it was cheaper to camp at Wild Horse than it was to camp in the main grounds. I think it was like 90 dollars versus 120 one of the last years I stayed there. It made the decision very very simple.

I had some friends get artist wristbands a few years back (thanks Nine Inch Nails gigantic guest list that no one checked) and they were pretty cool. We passed them around so we all got some time in the VIP areas but they're hardly worth paying 3 times ticket prices for. They are nice because they allow you to bounce around between sets without worrying about getting there early to get a good spot but that's not really that important at the Gorge. Pretty much every spot in the house is already great. The one thing they do that is really cool is they allow you into the inner bowl of the floor without having to wait in line.

General camping FOREVER! This year will be my fifth and I am a huge bitch when it comes to order, cleanliness, quiet time, etc. The first year I went I was 17 and only had a ticket for Sunday, but we went down and camped the whole festival and it was awesome. At the time I didn't drink or do drugs and it was still the best time. I did premium my second year and it wasn't worth it, the shower line was so ridiculous that I resorted to wet wipes and cooler water. I can't see Wildhorse being worth it for younger people/sasquatch virgins based on: A. Cost: you're probably going to need all the money you can muster B. Ins and Outs: chances are someone is going to forget something, whether it be underestimating how freezing it gets when the sun goes down, snacks (which you won't be able to afford if you squander your precious dollars on expensive camping), whatever. the walk between the gorge and general camping might be more convenient than waiting for the shuttles. C. General camping is, as someone said earlier, only as nuts as you want it to be. You don't like your spot? Neighbors too loud? You can relocate as you see fit. My team ended up doing that our first year. I'll never understand the complete hatred people have for Wild Horse on here. Has anyone besides Drew and I actually camped there? Having done both, the experience is almost completely the same but Wild Horse has a few minor perks. To respond to two of these points though: A. If you have 4 people in your group, Wild Horse costs like 30 bucks a person. It's a bit extra but it's really not going to break the bank. B. One of the benefits of Wild Horse is that you can leave the campground with your car and come back whenever you want. If ins and outs is something you're really worried about, you could actually drive to the festival and leave stuff in your car. This would make it even easier to pop out to grab a jacket and a few drinks than walking back to the campground would.

I really liked last night's Girls episode. They still let Hannah act like a terrible human a few times but I thought it allowed us in a lot more than most episodes of Girls usually do.
But guys...Enlightened last night...It's Mike White! What more do you need?

Is anyone besides me watching Enlightened? It's made a pretty solid case for being one of the best shows on TV these last few weeks. Tonight's episode was heartbreaking and uplifting in all of the right ways.

Nah, this is a bit earlier than that. It's a fairly lo-fi recording of the tour after the split with Angels of Light came out. The band is just the four original members of the band (this was before Ryan went off to live in a monastery or whatever he did). I'd only heard the Self-Titled album before the show so I expected it to be a quiet folky affair. Instead they opened with this:

I did wild horse when I was nineteen and your friends would have a fine time. They don't care about underage drinking and not everyone there is 30. The difference between the two camps is really not that major. The only real difference is that wild horse is much smaller and easier to navigate. You certainly won't spend an hour wandering around in the dark looking for your campsite after the show.
I like wild horse a lot but I probably wouldn't pay the extra money to camp there now that camping is included in the cost of tickets.

The wristband is the ticket. I don't think there will be any paper stubs this year. My guess: Number of paper stubs sold for 2013: 500+ Number of ligit paper stubs sold for 2013: 0 Box seat/season ticket holders still get paper tickets. Check and mate.

Wow, thanks for posting that article. There is a good chance that I'm the only one on here fascinated by that stuff but I love reading about the economics behind the industry. That article explains very clearly why I'm always talking about bands being on major labels and being played on the radio. Those things still matter immensely for some reason.

Christ, of course he's on Glassnote. They specialize in stuff that sounds kind of weird but is really just pop music through and through.
This is absolutely terrible stuff. The part where he's using a computer joystick to play terrible dubstep sounds makes me violently angry.
