By the way, I went on a youtube frenzy with Biffy Clyro last night... And MOST of the songs do indeed suck. But I picked out around 5 that seemed alright in my book. They are as follows in no particular order:
1)Glitter And Trauma 2)Many Of Horror 3)Justboy 4)Saturday Superhouse 5)Questions And Answers
Pretty much ignore the rest... It BLOWS (especially "the captain")

I think that whole idea with the acoustic 8-piece band set was just exclusive to that particular tour. They were just coming off a short "acoustic" tour the previous year with surprised success and were then semi-supporting a not so LOUD record. Assuming their more recent performances will continue to be the same, it's probably a safe bet that "my hero" and "everlong" will be restored to their full rock arrangements, which I agree sounds a million times better.

Definitely prefer whole albums over Greatest Hits collections. Looks like I picked the right one to start with. Thanks!

DFA79 - $20 (showbox venue price) I don't think this is accurate... Maybe you're right. I wouldn't see it being more than $30 (minus fees) and at the Showbox Sodo though... I believe one of DFA's last shows here was at a venue on capitol hill and with only one album, they really haven't grown much since.

Know, when was the last time you said you saw them live? They've definitely come a long way since the nineties in terms of stage presence and how the songs generally sound live. Last I saw the Foo Fighters was October, 2005. I don't think they have played in Portland since. The only other time I saw them was in the mid 90s, supporting their first album, back when I was a teenager. Ah, the Foozer tour. I was at that show...Great one. But yeah, they really haven't changed much since then (Aside from the mid-show acoustic set.) They came back to Portland in July-August '08, but the show lacked vocally in comparison due to Dave being sick. They actually cancelled the few dates afterwards. Last time I saw them at the gorge was opening for RHCP in 2000. They kind of sucked then. It was easily the worst out of the 5 or so times I've seen them live... So I'm kind of hoping their added stadium presence and improved sound helps them fit in more with the gorge setting this time around.

Full Disclosure- Fox introduced me to this song (as in mtfox, not the channel- jees, you guys), and I can tell you right now, unequivocally, that this will be the song I dance the hardest to all weekend. Nothing has put the dance bug in me like this since I first heard "Must Be the Moon." My friends also thank you for this gem, fox. Note: I don't know if dance "the hardest to" is the right term. GROOVE the hardest to. That's it. What would you all say the best "starter album" for The Radio Dept. Is? I like that above song and didn't realize they have around 10 albums total...

I think that at this point, the question posed in the thread's title can be summarily answered YES. Know, when was the last time you said you saw them live? They've definitely come a long way since the nineties in terms of stage presence and how the songs generally sound live. Anyways, to sum up my answer to the thread title... Here is looking at the numbers side of things: Foo Fighters - $40-50 (key arena price) DFA79 - $20 (showbox venue price) Thr other 4 bands: probably around $10-20 ea. Also, If I'm not mistaken, camping was $30 a night during previous years? That's a $180 value shoved into an $80 ticket. More of a value for you 4-day peeps. So my answer is NO. Friday is not a failure. You all are just getting more of a "steal" on the other 3 days. ;D

Because they sound like Offspring. I don't hear it at all. I hear more relation to QOTSA than Offspring. That is just guitaring... Vocally I can't really compare them to anybody?
