MGMT and New Pornographers. To my surprise, the MGMT frontman sounded great even though I had heard from others that he mumbles a lot. And the band also sounded great and was entertaining. Right after that I checked out the New Pornographers. I'm still not too familiar with their music but I figured I'd check it out. Again, they sounded great and they all had funny things to say, especially Neko Case. It was a great way to end the festival for me.

Ha. Looks like I wasn't the only one who thought of creating a thread like this.

Yeah, most of the people checking bags were pretty cool about half-assing it and therefore letting things slip by. Those "beverage enforcement" people kinda bugged me though.

Here's mine:
1. LCD Soundsystem 2. Band of Horses 3. Broken Social Scene 4. MGMT 5. Brother Ali
Please note that I could have easily put 12 other bands on here but this is what I chose for my top 5. Overall a lot of amazing shit.

Yeah, the whole back of stage thing didn't bother me too much because I was far enough back that I still got to enjoy the view. But I can see how that might have sucked for those who were actually close to the stage and couldn't see the amazing backdrop.

I was actually pretty damn disappointed with Pavement. They kept fucking up and Malkmus had a very bad attitude IMO. That being said I did leave early so maybe it got better after I left.

Are binoculars allowed? I'll probably be hanging out on the lawn all day so I'll be kinda far away from the stage...

Yeah, this is friggin' sweet not only because it looks awesome but also it's here on the page instead of a pdf or excel file (takes my p.o.s. computer forever to load those up)

Yeah, I hear ya on that one peatrick. I guess that's the double-edged sword with festivals. They're a great value and a ton of great bands but inevitably it results in a bit of disappointment because there's always conflicts. I wish that some of the bigger bands played earlier to help alleviate that but I guess it just doesn't work that way.

Perhaps not up to par because I've only been to 2 Lollas and that's it but whatever:
Saturday @ Lolla 2009
12:00-12:30 Thenewno2 (Dhani Harrison's band, not bad!) 12:30-1:30 Delta Spirit (somewhat underrated awesome band) 1:30-2:30 Miike Snow 2:30-3:30 Atmosphere 3:30-4:30 peeing/eating (not necessarily in that order) 4:30-5:30 Arctic Monkeys (love this band, amazing live) 5:30-6:30 Santigold 6:30-7:30 TV on the Radio (another one of my favs) 7:30-8:30 Animal Collective 8:30-10:00 Tool (the granddaddy of them all)

Nevermind, I just looked it up and saw they already had a couple EPs. Pardon my stupidity.

Wow, that sounds crazy. So did Fleet Foxes end up doing some cover songs? I would imagine they didn't have much material back in 2008 but then again I'm not too familiar with their history...

Ah yes, I forgot about Deadmau5 and Booka Shade. Make that 29. Even better.

I have decided, after much internal debate, that I am going to be a lazy bastard and just stick to the main stage all 3 days (also because it's a very very solid lineup on that stage). So this means I will be seeing 27 great bands/artists for under $200. Not bad. How about you guys?

Amazing. Not only did you get this done before the guys on the official site but it's probably going to look better than theirs as well.

It seems like they've been sitting on the schedule for a while since it still says Wookie Stage and Aziz is still on there. Kind of makes me mad knowing that this could have been out two weeks ago but hey, at least it's out now and I still have three weeks to finalize everything.

Yeah, the internet is the #1 reason why I have an eclectic taste in music. I like listening to Pandora and I sort of "rigged" the charts on rateyourmusic so that it will show me a ranking of albums that it thinks I would like but I haven't yet checked out. It actually works pretty well. But my roommates are always watching VH1 and MTV and it makes me very sad because 99% of the music on there is garbage but they don't realize what's out there. And they probably don't care either which is totally fine. Music is more important to some people than it is to others.

Yeah, I saw LCD Soundsystem back when they were touring with Arcade Fire and dare I say the LCD Soundsystem portion was the best part. Extremely energetic and sounded great live.
