I had that Elysian split shot espresso milk stout tonight. Highly recommended to any of you Cappuccino Stout fan folks. Is that a seasonal/limited run or something? I'm down at Elysian Fields quite often and haven't seen that one before. I'm a huge fan of milk stouts so I'll be looking out for it! That beer is the "official seattle beer week beer". Yesterday I was going to the Black Dice show and completely forgot about all of the events for Seattle Beer Week. Started at Maritime and had a vertical tasting of their Decompression Ale (2011 cask, 2011 cask bourbon age, 2012 cask and 2012 draft). Also did a full sampler. I LOVE MARITIME (esp bbq habanero sauce mmm). Then went to Hillards and did some tastings. May have found the beer to get my foot in the door in enjoying some belgians. I liked their Saison alright. Then went to Northwest Peaks. These guys are pretty new and I am not sure I can get down with the plastic fermenters. Supremely fucked by the time the Black Dice were on. WOW what a show

Still trying to acquire the Belgian taste. Drinking an Anderson Valley Brother David's Triple. Not undrinkable but I would probably never drink one again. 10% abv though and you can barely detect the alcohol in the taste

I am so not into Belgian beer. I don't like the fruitiness or the spices.

I am so not into Belgian beer. I don't like the fruitiness or the spices. I agree. I don't know why I am even doing this to myself. I guess its because when I was younger I didn't like things that I like to eat now. I thought that may apply to beer but I am seriously doubting it

Beer Week is destroying me and my attempts at a gluten free diet. The "Can You Handle my Randall" event at the Pine Box last night was probably the most fun I've had at a beer event. They had the Elysian milk stout running through coffee and vanilla bean, fremont's summer ale running through thai basil and lemon grass, an ipa running through a mango-based fruit salad, dogfish's black and blue running through rum soaked cherries, etc. In my eagerness to try all the tasty creations I may have overdone it.

Belgium beers and Indian food are super delicious together. Mmmm...Indian Food. We always have the Kingfisher beer when we go to our favorite Indian place (The Curry House in Ferndale). I know that its not a craft beer but it is Indian

I would like to know further of this "running through" 'cause it sounds seriously awesome. So a Randall ("Randall the Enamel Animal") is this beer infusing system original made by Dogfish. You can see the set up in the picture I posted, but the tap lines are connected to those little chambers that are filled with various elements of your choosing. From the horse's mouth: "Randall the Enamel Animal is the original gangster organoleptic hop transducing module. Basically, it's a sophisticated system that allows the user to run draft beer through a chamber of whole leaf hops, spices, herbs, fruit, etc. so that the alcohol in the beer strips the flavor from whatever you add and puts it in the beer." We first developed Randall back around 2002 to beat our West Coast brethren in a hop-centric beer showdown called The Lupulin Slam. We thought we'd just build that one and that would be the end of it, but right out of the gates fellow beer geeks and brewers asked us to build Randalls for them -- so we did." The guys at Pine Box spent a couple week building their own instead of paying for official ones, but it all works the same.

If anybody is in Bellingham tonight there is a brewers night at Green Frog Acoustic Tavern for Everybody's Brewing. They make some damn tasty beers. 6-9 come out

So I remember that Everybody's Brewing was really awesome last time (a couple of years ago) that i tried them. This brewers night tonight had 3 India related beers. Meaning regular IPA, double IPA and india session ale. They also had their common ale (which has a hoppy presence) and their stout. So 4/5 were pretty fucking similar. I was a little disappointed with the line-up they brought. Stand-outs were Daily Bread Common Ale and Cash Stout

So, I went to Elysian tonight and tried the Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout. It was really very light and delicious. A lot less strong in terms of alcohol content as well as coffee flavor but an awesome easy to drink beer! Still Team Lagunitas but Elysian did pretty well for themselves with this brew.

The wedding party is taking a party bus up to Elysian next Friday (yea yea blah blah blah I know I should be at Sasquatch instead), so I'm going to definitely have to add that milk stout to my list of beers to drink when I get there.

Also, is it just me or do the words "milk stout" just sound delicious together? My mouth waters every time I say it.
