Also. Knightly has gross teeth. Truth.

Cbats - 16 Know - 15 Comeswithasword - 14 Stamper - 14 Drew - 14 cool ice - 11 Horned - 10 Souly - 10 I developed a higly sophisticated methodology in determining my Oscar picks, and I would've gotten a victory if it wasn't for that pesky cbats. I didn't actually watch one movie I voted for, but it goes to show that extensive research and sound reasoning skills can lead to highly accurate Oscar picks. As is, I am just happy I beat most of the movie experts here, especially Drew. I was definitely hoping to beat know here. I would've rubbed it in. But then he would have found a clever way to make fun of me for making better picks.

let's take a closer look... The Nominees that year were (winner in bold): Crash, Brokeback Mountain, Good Night and Good Luck, Munich and Capote based on that competition - NO, it probably shouldn't have won... but a nomination, surely? Other movies that were snubbed for best picture that year were: Broken Flowers, Walk the Line, Cinderella Man, Syriana and The Constant Gardener. hmm... was Pride & Prejudice better than any of those movies? Not sure about that one either. Weak year. Lots of middle-of-the-road movies, but no standouts. IMO, Pride and Prejudice was better than all of the aforementioned. Crash is an embarrassment. And I think the acting in Pride and Prejudice is superb, and Knightley was good (not great). Wait, what is going on? Why am I arguing about this. You win, cbats. I feel like I was just rickrolled.

Quasi-related to the Oscars: Throughout the commercial breaks, I kept seeing that this morning, Britney Spears had a "big" secret announcement she'd be making. I'll be honest--with all of the GaGa insanity and Beiber Fever, I forgot about the voiceless clown. But for those of you interested in her "big" announcement, I included the link: abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/britney-spears-perform-good-morning-america-san-francisco/story?id=13013845Better yet--don't waste your time. This washed up pop princess merely announced she will be performing for the first time on Good Morning America for her stupid new single, "Hold it Against me" Waste.of.time. Gotta say, sure--she's still hot. Sure, she's still a good dancer, but I've been subjected to years of her bad singing and I couldn't give two shits if she'll be performing on GMA! ahem...pardon my rant!

I love Traffic but Syriana was a disaster. Fuck no; Traffic was awful. Soderbergh is just bad, all the way across the board. I think that the guy who made 'Oceans Twelve' should be disqualified from winning any major awards ever.

I wasn't saying that in relation to pride and prejudice, I was just saying it because I hate that movie with every fiber of my being

Really? You've been here a year, you have 1,000 posts. It seems like something you'd be used to by now. I, on the other hand, am surprised that what has been an overall legitimately interesting movie thread has been derailed by a movie for girls entering their sophomore year of high school.

"Rising sophomores," we'd call them, less of a mouthful.

Out of Sight, The Limey, Solaris, and Bubble are all beautiful movies. And the Oceans movies are really fun! He's got a few stinkers (Full Frontal, GfE, Good German) but I love the fact he strives to keep working and experimenting, so I'll take the bad with the really, really, really good. Traffic was okay.

Seriously? Page after page of talk about the Oscars and no mention of Melissa Leo's F-bomb? That shit was awesome! I like how she seemed so surprised and made speechless by the win, then she swore, and all of a sudden she found her words again. Suspicious... I predict a tape delay of the Oscars starting next year.
I'm glad Dido was busy baby-making because it gave Florence a chance to sing! I love her, and the Machine is alright. I really wish they had NOT given Celine Dion the microphone, though. The world needs less Celine Dion.
