I caught the Melvins in San Jose on the way to Coachella. They had two drummers who basically tore the roof off the tiny club they played at. Great show. My friends are friends with King Buzzo, so we were hanging out with him after the show. He is soft spoken fellow, and much kinder than I would have guessed. It was totally like hanging out with a high school skater though.
Side note, my buddy is probably the biggest Melvins fan alive. He went to see Radiohead the same night, and left early so he wouldn't miss the Melvins. He also drove up to San Fran to see them the next night. Since the Melvins have been on tour basically non-stop since 1986, he's seen them a bunch.

Grass Widow and Xiu Xiu in ATL this weekend (bittersweet since I'll be in StampCat neck of the woods but they'll be at Bonnaroo).
Apparently I got a special email list presale for a Ben Folds Five show in Central Park, but tickets were $125 FUGGIN DOLLARS! I love you BFF, but who the fuck do you think you are?

So I probably won't go, half cause I can't afford both that and the trip to New York itself, and half purely out of principle.

Anyone notice or mention the announcement of the new Grizzly Bear album and tour?
Portland 10/4. At the Keller, which means I'll probably wait to see them at Sasquatch next year.

I don't know who this is really, but I read today about Vice writing this fucking despicable review for it. It didn't even talk about the band or the album though so I don't know. Great story, Stormy.

The new Grizzly Bear track is good. It sounds like a Grizzly Bear song. Halfway through I got distracted and zoned out and ended up thinking I had put on Veckatimest. So yeah, it's no 'Two Weeks'. But 'Two Weeks' is the exception in Grizzly Bear's catalog; it is the only song they've recorded that sounds just as good out of the context of the album proper.
I have Grass Widow's first album. It's... okay.

They cut 'Colorado' at Sasquatch last time. If you, like me, can't stand for this, come spend a grizzly weekend at my place. The Paramount Theater is my #2 venue in Seattle, shit's legit (we're sitting on the balcony, GA).

Take it to the thread! I'm completely incapable of eloquently describing music, but I'll try! Stay tuned, I'll cook something up in that thread soon

Great story, Stormy. Haha, I just read that. I couldn't be completely sure Vice was even talking shit. That review sounded so ambiguous I can't tell. Anyway, I love them and their music and the way they right their guitar lines and how the guitar lines and bass lines harmonize with each other and how their voices harmonize with each other, so whatevs.
