Eh. I gave a few more their songs a listen and at least one of the guys has some decent flow. The songs that are structured like hip hop arent all that bad, no lyrical master pieces but still decent ear candy. But the first few on their myspace are what lead me to my initial judgement, one along these lines: edit: nope, they just started a song with "I'm so wild, they call me four loko". Fuck this band. edit: fail.

I see this has become the Das Racist hate thread. I, for one, fucking love them.

People who don't like Das Racist can eat a dick. This is awesome.

Can you direct me to some of their better songs? I don't see the appeal of a 3 minute long repeating phrase about a Pizza Hut and Taco Bell combination.
EDIT: And I'm not taking a jab, I'm serious about wanting to understand their appeal to people.

"You Oughta Know" is my personal fave. "All Tan Everything" is also excellent. "Shorty Said" is clever and catchy. "hahahaha jk?" is a great one. I would recommend those four. Overall, I think Shut Up, Dude is a little better than Sit Down, Man, but they're both strong top-to-bottom.

They're just really smart, they rely on solid producers, and they're not overly self-serious. They avoid rap and hipster-hop cliches, musically and lyrically. And their perspective is rare in hip-hop - well-off, smart, funny non-black minorities.

Hmm I'll keep giving them a shot as I usually try to do for Sasquatch bands. To be honest, I was just really itching to use that Barkley pic.

EDIT: And I'm not taking a jab, I'm serious about wanting to understand their appeal to people. I also never thought there would be mass appeal for a 3:55 radio edit that sings 'Around the World' 80 times; but all of a sudden the artist is too big for Sasquatch. Please follow the link, its revelatory. www.lyricsfreak.com/d/daft+punk/around+the+world_10076007.htmlP.S. Also not taking a jab at anyone or any band. I like the song, and I guess it's all about the music and melody, not the lyrics.

I like the song, and I guess it's all about the music and melody, not the lyrics. I think it's more about the drugs you were supposed to have taken. At least in the case of daft punk...

Das Racist is one of the best things going. If you are judging them on Pizza Hut/Taco Bell, you are uninformed.
Great like cLOUDDEAD.

Das Racist released two of the best if not the best mixtapes of last year, check out the title track from Sit Down, Man and Amazing (also on that mixtape). Im pretty god damn excited they are making a stop at Sasquatch this year. Would you rather have Wale? nahhhhhhhhh. This is some good ass intelligent hip-hop that wont bring out the bros, with there fist-pumping.
