Deerhunter was really wonderful. I did not know what to expect but I was really blown away. Bradford Cox is some kind of weird dude and I loved it. The encore was my favorite part, they got really brown and weird.
Dan Deacon was fun as usual. I was wondering if he was going to be able to get the crowd in the square to participate like at a normal show, and it worked really well. I was standing on the side for part of it since I have seen him twice and I needed to save energy for Animal Collective, but I was drawn in at the end and had an absolute blast running in circles waving my arms in Pioneer Square past a bunch of people who weren't quite sure what was going on.
Animal Collective was fucking incredible. They started out kind of slow and then it built into a powerhouse of a performance. They were all really into it. They played My Girls about halfway through so all the bros could go home and I could get closer to the stage as they were getting weirder. Last time they played My Girls they just kind of rushed through it but this time they made it into a really funky party. I wanted to hear Purple Bottle the most of all. They closed with it and played the HELL out of it. I want to go back and see it again right now.

Last night I went to Savages at Neumos. Those girls are fucking awesome. I couldn’t help but make Joy Division comparisons while they were rocking out during certain songs. Each of the members were extremely entertaining to watch. The drummer was a badass. Definitely had a little bit of a crush on her during the show. Savages make epic, massive songs that are very danceable. They also would get tripped out at times while the guitarist did some of her best “fuzz wars” impressions. Nah, it was her own thing but, at times, it reminded me of “Fuzz Wars” from The Ty Segall Band. Their final encore song was “Silence Yourself”. Duke Garwood (the opening act) came out on stage while the singer chick busted out the keys. Duke Garwood provided some steamy, psychedelic saxamaphone and it was a perfect ending to a perfect show.
HG: Glad you checked out Bosnian Rainbows! Their show in Seattle was excellent as well.
Nick/Dr. Garbanzo: Sorry that I was way too drunk to check my phone and find you guys during James Murphy. That show was pretty rad but I was a little anti-curtain after that show. I get that he wanted to be in his zone back there but you couldn’t see James Murphy unless you were down the middle or around that front left corner. The crowd didn’t seem to mind though. That was the most dancing I have seen at a Seattle club show in a long time.
EDIT: I guess Duke Garwood was playing clarinet. Shows what I know.

That was the most dancing I have seen at a Seattle club show in a long time. No worries mate. I took my leave at around 1:30 because I had a boat to catch, but while the music was dope as fuck I was less than impressed with the curtain action. The whole thing had a very different vibe, both sonically and visually, from the Sasquatch! set (which I'll maintain as far, far better). It was fun, but I was expecting more than the whole "night at da club" scene that ended up happening. Good to see Seattle folks movin' their feet though. Doesn't happen often enough.

ASIWYFA are fucking wicked. If they are coming through your town DON’T MISS THEM. Waves of positive energy will cover your sweaty body. I couldn’t even be mad that I left my I.D. and my debit card at The Crocodile and I am now in Bellingham. Doh!
Also, X Suns played a set that Russian Circles and Explosions In The Sky would have been proud of.
Mylets did his one man band thing. It was pretty awesome but I wish his vocals were louder (couldn’t hear most of his words). I can’t believe that dude is only 18 years old.
TTNG put on another stellar show. They even brought Henry (Mylets) on stage for a song.

Holy Ghost! put on a killer show. The crowd was moving a lot, especially for a Tuesday night. This was probably helped by the fact that the opener, Midnight Magic, was also fucking awesome. Sort of Gossip-infused disco synth shit. It was mad tight even if the lead singer kept saying the wrong day of the week. Plus: got Dynamics on pink vinyl! Whoop whoop!

Quintron and Miss Pussycat were very entertaining, but why take my word for it when you can watch their puppet shows on youtube:

They're playing Voodoo, and I am interested, but perhaps not interested enough not to be drinking in the french quarter during their set.

Every band should also perform a puppet show, because I am loving this.
I would be all over a hometown Quinton show.
"Quintron is a multi-instrumental one-man-band. During performances, Quintron utilizes a custom-made Hammond organ/Fender Rhodes synthesizer combo which he has had custom outfitted to resemble the body of a car, complete with working headlights and a Louisiana license plate which reads "Quintron". Quintron is often accompanied by The Drum Buddy, a rotating, light-activated analog synthesizer, one of many which he has created and manufactured himself. Quintron frequently plays multiple instruments simultaneously, the Hammond organ acting as his primary instrument, and the Fender Rhodes supplying bass lines. He can often be seen keeping time on a hi-hat with one foot while toggling between a volume and wah-wah pedal with the other. Quintron is regularly accompanied by his wife Miss Pussycat, who sings backup and plays maracas."

Everything about that sounds awesome. Complicated analog synth work is something I'll always love to see played live.

Last Friday I went to Gaytheist, Helms Alee and Red Fang in Bellingham. The bands were all great as usual but it got a little out of hand. Everyone was rocking out hard during Red Fang. Pushing back and forth. Semi-moshing but not really. Fun stuff. A guy to my right was one of those people that has to have his arms around his girlfriend at all times. He was not liking the pushing that was going on and was starting to be a huge dick. Everybody was doing the same thing but this guy. He started kicking at my shins and that was pretty irritating. I started pushing back towards him a little harder and the next thing I knew my hoodie was being pulled back. I didn’t know what was going on. I couldn’t breath and it straight up started tearing (a fucking hoodie!). I almost went to the ground and then the tugging stopped. I turned around and saw someone on the ground and helped him up. My brother and friend were trying to figure out what happened. I didn’t know what the hell happened but assumed that it was the guy kicking me’s friend or something. I was pretty furious and left a little early because I didn’t want to ruin the rest of the show for others. I had ligature marks on my neck until yesterday! The more I think about the strength I was being pulled by the more I think the guy that I helped up fell and grasped onto my hoodie to try and stop himself from falling.
Sorry for the rambling. Really great shows by all three bands though. Great crowd vibes (minus my little experience above).

There's always some dude there being overly protective of his girlfriend (who more often than not doesn't need any protecting) who gets pissed at everyone around him instead of moving somewhere in the room that is calmer.

Bonobo was fantastic. The flute/sax guy was insane and I got to meet half of Odezsa who was just chilling in the crowd. He was really down to earth and it was good to get a chance to thank him for the incredible afternoon dance party they incited at Block Party. I also ran into Ben from Bellevue for those of you who met him thisyear at Sasquatch and he says he is coming to our Halloween party woop!
