I think the lack of any of us knowing the finances of the festival undermines any arguement of "but its too expensive!!". This is more correct than any of the ridiculous talk about money ever is. We just have no fucking clue. It's more than simple math.

HG: I won't lie. Solid zing, even if you're wrong. Salamander: I appreciate the effort, but here are some things I find to be lame about your post: -A category called "NEVER GONNA GET." Sick of this attitude, sick of this sentiment. -A category featuring the words "too expensive." Sick of this attitude, sick of this sentiment. -Weezer is too expensive? Weezer is terrible, but setting that aside, would they really be such a difficult "get" for the festival? -It doesn't matter what you think about Bright Eyes -- whether you're a casual fan or an ardent fanboy like HG -- it's just not a realistic headlining spot. I'm not saying Bright Eyes couldn't appear at Sasquatch, or couldn't fit in, just that it would be a questionable choice to close out the weekend. I don't know, I think we should just start trying to use "demonstrable schedule conflicts" and "death of all members" as the only criteria for definitively ruling out a band. I have to side with I8. That is why I think there is still a bigger headliner than the Foos still to be announced. In previous years we have had big headliners, why not this year?

I don't think you're right, funny, but I have a feeling we might be arguing about "bigger than the Foos" post-lineup announcement. I'm eager to see who's right here.

They're probably too similar musically to the FF's to headline, but I would love to see Queens of the Stone Age somewhere this year. They seem attainable. I know they are playing a fest in Australia in February, as a sub spot they would be good.
I can see Cake possibly headlining. They've been seemingly more active in recent times and would be a good draw.
As for Daft Punk, I am holding out hope that they will make an appearance.
Also, I'll be surprised if Ratatat doesn't show up as a subheadliner. They've been building in popularity over the past few years and seem attainable price wise but have never been to Sasquatch before,

I told myself I wouldn't, but I've become so obsessed with wanting either Daft Punk or The Chemical Brothers to be in the lineup that I'm afraid I'll be pretty damn disappointed if neither are on it

you guys have your own quirks, I have mine. There are bands (Radiohead/Pearl Jam in particular) that Sasquatch cannot afford and it bothers me that you guys keep trying to tell yourselves that either 1. they can or 2. we don't know. We do know and you guys are in denial if you think otherwise. Speaking of misguided suggestions, pointless posts and horribly wrong 'educated guesses'... Jesus, c-bat, what are you even talking about? For serious. What does a set from the Foos on Friday have to do AT ALL with sets on one of THREE other days from other bands? Are you doing Stupid Math again? Because I think it is well documented that this board has had its fill of the Stupid Math. only reason I mentioned the foos is because if they plan on having a huge headliner like those two the only way they could do it would be an abbreviated friday where they saved money because they didn't have to book as many acts. They did that and that's why the foos are coming. They can't use that slot for Radiohead/Pearl Jam anymore. I think the lack of any of us knowing the finances of the festival undermines any arguement of "but its too expensive!!". but we do know some stuff about the finances. The gorge holds approximately 20,000 people. Radiohead sells out venues with 20,000 seats when they play by themselves.

SO, moving on, this (http://www.fontanadistribution.com/images/FontanaOnlineBook_28215.pdf) seems to make the Cut Copy rumor quite a bit stronger, which is great news. I'm curious where on the lineup you guys think they would place, they've gained a lot of popularity and would make sense on the main stage, in the tent OR as a late night set.

yeah with regards to finances as someone who used to work at booking somewhat large acts for my college it's not like every band has a price they will and won't do a show for, it's a lot more complicated and has a lot to do with the level of inconvenience the show would be for the performer. It would probably cost 50 or 60g to get rick ross to come in and do sasquatch but you would only have to pay him 5 or 10 to get him in a club in miami. Basically......because we don't know every bands touring schedule and their managers strategy for mapping out their tour we really have no way of telling what band is or isn't out of Sasquatch's price range even if you attempt to calculate their budget through the ticket price or through the size of band's previous venues.

with that being said, a band like radiohead or u2 just doesn't need sasquatch.......and any idiot could tell you that

with that being said, a band like radiohead or u2 just doesn't need sasquatch.......and any idiot could tell you that I don't think anyone is disagreeing with this. Most of us are just hoping one or two of the big guys will go slumming for once. I mean did R.E.M. or the Cure need to do Sasquatch? Beck? or the Beasties? Any of those acts could headline any festival in the world.

just because they don't need it doesn't mean they won't do it. Smaller fests have gotten Pearl Jam for a one off show before. Sometimes bands just want to be a part of a show. It happens.

If it's anything like 2006, Foo=NIN. NIN and Beck were/are about the same draw and Ben Harper was/is(as A.Fire is) a cheaper headliner. I think it'll be 2 BH's(AFire;the Decemberists) and a Beck(Wilco;Coldplay) to come. Hahaha,I needed a laugh, And i don't know if you heard but Coldplay is one of the biggest bands in the world and probably a little bit bigger draw than wilco. Thanks gunther for correcting my math, it should be 90 Dollars. Yeah, I was setting a range in an effort to express I have to side with I8. That is why I think there is still a bigger headliner than the Foos still to be announced. In previous years we have had big headliners, why not this year?

So what you are saying is because Foo Fighters are traveling and doing alot of festivals, their rate might be reduced, more than if they did a one off show. Allowing for the possibility of a larger headliner?

Yeah, Radiohead still(as recently as '08) plays record stores(93 Fleet East, London Wed. Jan 16th, 2008) I think that with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, the issue is less the cost, and more the fact that Pearl Jam is having their own fest. somewhere in "the heart of America." On the other hand, it's PJ's 20th and sasquatch's 10th. Shit like that matters to bands like Pearl Jam. They like to keep the fans happy.

Haha this one would definitely win you the prize. And for the record, I fucking love KM and I hope she brings an army of gay men to the Gorge for a headlining slot.

I was thinking it would be an awesome late night show, but not at the expense of Sacrificing other potential headliners.

That would depend on who the other potential headliners are. I'll take KM if it means we dodge the Phish bullet.
