What's up? I am so excited to be going to the Gorge for the first time, as well as Sasquatch! for the first time! I have been to a lot of major festivals before and have heard great things about Sasquatch!, especially the camping areas. I think the lineup is pretty cool, but I can't help to think that they may be holding out for one or two more headliners. My gut tells me that if they were to add a few bands the announcement would be no later than next Friday.
I have a few questions about the overall vibe of the festival. What would you say is the average age of an attendee? How many of you return year after year? What are some of your favorite aspects of the festival? Do boys cry? When do doves cry? Why have I been cryin' since I met you?
I'm excited to head out to one of the country's most beautiful venues. Thanks for welcoming me to your community.

What's the deal with weed at the festival? Is there a legal vendor that operates on the concert field or camping ground? Nearby rec shops? Or is it just easier to get some in the campgrounds off the "black market?"
I know it sounds narc-y but I don't know where else to ask. I would prefer to just go the legal route for the novelty of it ha

It isn't allowed within the venue itself, but there aren't any vehicle searches when entering the campground, so you can either buy what you want at a Washington pot shop and drive it into camp, or just look for someone selling it when you get there.

I, too, will be doing this.... for science. 0_0... But on a serious note, i'm coming in from Dallas, what would be a good source of information so I don't get in trouble due to lack of knowledge of the law?

I would prefer to just go the legal route for the novelty of it ha There's a shop just outside Ephrata, about 20 minutes from the venue. The display or consumption of marijuana or marijuana infused product in view of the public is still illegal in the state of Washington, thus it is not allowed in the venue (just like you can't bring liquor in). However, unlike liquor, there is no provision in the law for on-site consumption, so there are no vendors that could sell it at the festival. While it is officially not allowed, the security seems to have developed an unspoken Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. So, as long as your discrete about it, they don't fuck with you for it. Tl,dr: Find a shop before you get to the festival, tuck it somewhere going through the gate, leave the 6 foot bong at home, don't blow it in the yellow shirts' faces, and you should be fine.

It's legal in Washington. If you're over 21, you can purchase and carry weed. If you're curious about specifics, I'm sure you can seek out information by just searching for Washington state marijuana laws.

I was just more curious about if there was any sort of legal stand at the festival or within the camp grounds. This is starting to happen at some festivals in Colorado.

Ohhh, no no, nothing like that on the property. I think now especially with Live Nation operating all Gorge functions, you won't be seeing anything like that as long as it is still outlawed federally.

The good news is that there are recreational shops everywhere, so you won't have any trouble finding some on your way to the festival. Just keep it low key once you're there.

I would highly recommend a recreation shop near a big city. You will find better, fresher buds say in Seattle than out near the gorge. Might I mention much better prices/bang for your buck.

That's not necessarily true. Eastern Washington grows A LOT of really good weed. It's approaching apples as our biggest cash crop. The shop where I live sells exclusively local EWA pot and I've never had reason to complain.

Tacking on here with my one year of experience. It's not super difficult to get into the venue either, and once you do, no one gives shit as long as you aren't actively annoying security. Although, be warned, they seem to get more strict with security as the weekend passes. I always just stuck a doobtube down my boxers right before security and never had a problem. You can do the same with shots of whisky etc.

I want to reiterate the relaxed nature of the staff. My first year in 2013 while waiting in line for the camp store, near the walkway to the gorge, a gentleman further up the line took out his piece and smoked it no more than 4 feet from a staff member. While I wouldn't advise this it's a lot more relaxed than not. In fact I've never seen any officers of the law around Sasquatch and most of the LiveNation hired staff don't get paid enough to hassle you if you're doing it in crowds and aren't easy to confiscate from. There is something to be said about security and checks getting more strict as the weekend goes on though.
