I am pretty sure that my ankle would be fully broken rather than just terribly sprained from Gessafelstein had it not been for the sheer quantity of chips I had consumed.

Holy shit was that Deafheaven set mind blowing or what? It took me awhile to recover from experiencing that and Panda Bear directly afterwards.

The amount of confused people at Deafhaven was the best.

Gesaffelstein started off slow with a few meh songs, but really turned it up 6 or 7 notches by the end of his set. He was in my top 3 for sure. So intense, so good. I don't really think he started that slow. I feel like his brooding builds and lingering, almost melancholic, basslines are what make his sets so awesome.

Holy shit, Chance the Rapper. I was psyched for his set already but he absolutely blew my face off. That was the hypest concert I've been to in a long time, just wish his set was longer.

Also, where the fuck were you all weekend? I was all over the place. What my weekend looked like: Crystal Fighters -> De La Soul -> Cage the Elephant -> Chance the Rapper -> Princess -> Foals -> Classixx -> Mogwai -> Outkast -> Die Antwoord Bright Light Social Hour / Deap Vally -> Hobosexual -> Eric Andre -> Sol -> Violent Femmes -> Deafheaven -> The Grizzled Mighty -> MIA -> The National -> Boys Noize Tacocat -> Brody Dalle -> chune-Yards -> Hannibal Burress -> Black Joe Lewis -> campground break -> Haim -> Rodriguez -> Parquet Courts -> QOTSA -> GesaffelsteinI'm sure I probably stood right next to you at some point, but since you're not actually Dave Coulier, I didn't recognize you. I did all those things. However I have no clue what you look like either. I kinda just assumed it would work out. You probably saw me in front of the sound booth during Eric Andre blowing up the inflatables (including large alligator) and regretting not smuggling in a pump as well. I thought I was going to pass out on a few occasions.

Man I really ruined Chance for myself (and he was one of my most anticipated) but I am still pumped to see that everyone enjoyed it as much as I should have.

Based on the 2/3rds of chance's set that was incredible, you'll have plenty of opportunities to catch him in the future.

I know I will, as long as he takes better care of himself, but I can't stop kicking myself for letting myself go to my most anticipated show too tired to stay in the pit.

No doubt. I was just stoked with how good he was because his flaws were not the kind you usually see with up and coming rappers (namely, they can't rap live) but really simple things like pacing.

I also like how different his live tracks were from the studio recordings. It really did sound a lot more like some acid rap but maybe that is because I was really high.

I couldn't get one of those new Panda Bear songs out my head the whole drive home, and that moment during Mogwai's last song was perhaps the most astonishing thing that's ever happened to me. Amazing Sasquatch everybody, I don't think I could've asked for anything more. It was great meeting a whole lot of you! I need more! Did I ever send you the live Panda Bear recording I was passing around before the fest? The set list is very similar with most of those incredible new songs. The offer still stands for you and anyone else who wants to hear them again. It doesn't come with Danny "holy fucking shit" Perez visuals, unfortunately. As for that moment, I am still holding pieces of my melted face. The face that had just finally reformed from seeing Mogwai close with 'Mogwai Fear Satan' a few weeks prior. Those dudes keep getting better and better at face melting. I need to find out what pedal they all use that instantly makes everything 3x louder, because that is some cool shit.

I need it.

I was on the hill at first, but had to move up because I couldn't hear anything except for the booming vocals. Still couldn't hear much as I got closer. Ah okay. I was pretty much right up front. May have sounded better to me than it was because I had never seen them before and they are one of my favourite bands. I got set lists from both The National and QOSTA and the both skipped songs that were supposed to be played. Not to mention that Queens left the stage 20 minutes early and still left a song or two off, one of which was Faireweather Friends dammit. But my God, they were amazing! Aw man Fairweather Friends is so awesome. That's too bad. What did the National skip? They played for pretty much their entire time slot but I know sometimes headliners stick around a bit longer than scheduled so they could have squeezed some more in. Unless I am mistaken, The National did not play "Ada" (which was listed on the setlist as their first encore song) and QOTSA skipped "The Vampyre Of Time And Memory" and "Fairweather Friends". Like I said, being that I was pretty tired and drunk by the end of each night, they could have played these songs and I was too spaced to notice.

My weekend looked something like this, and it was unreal...
Friday Crystal Fighters -> Night Beats -> Hozier -> Shaky Graves -> Princess -> Phosphorescent -> Tourist -> Houndmouth -> Mogwai -> Outkast -> Rudimental -> Die Antwoord (For about 5 minutes. Interesting, but not my bag)
Saturday The Dodos/Dude York -> Jonathan Wilson -> City and Colour -. Violent Femmes (Nice to meet some of you during this set!) -> Deafheaven -> Cloud Control -> Panda Bear -> Sandrider (GREAT to have finally met Bad Choices and his wife. Very cool people indeed) -> The National
Sunday Pink Mountaintops -> Sir Sly -> Black Joe Lewis -> Bob Mould -> Rodriguez -> Parquet Courts -> Queens of the Stone Age
Favourite sets: Phosphorescent, Bob Mould, Sandrider, The National, Houndmouth, Mogwai, QOTSA and Parquet Courts
The worst thing I saw all weekend was anything associated with Super Geek League. What the fuck was that and who thought it was a good idea to give them their own stage? Fucking waste of space and money.

Yeah I appreciate what they were trying to do with SGL but them playing at the same time as some of the Bigfoot sets really pissed me off and the red Satanic minotaur guy growling at me while I was staring off into space saucer-eyed was just about the last thing that I ever needed to have happen to me at the time.

Violent Femmes (Nice to meet some of you during this set!) The worst thing I saw all weekend was anything associated with Super Geek League. What the fuck was that and who thought it was a good idea to give them their own stage? Fucking waste of space and money. Where were you for the Femmes? We were exactly where I said we would be and it couldn't have been more obvious. Also I didn't mind the SGL stuff. I wandered by once or twice when I was bored and it was fairly entertaining for the 5 minutes I needed to kill. They never interfered with any of the set I watched at the Bigfoot, but I was usually to the left of the soundstage.

I am in that picture but I seriously do not remember any inflatables for the Femmes. God damnit.
