(And I never ended up a crowd pleaser, so just no it's a dead end path dearest Cat.)
And Spirulina, you have described why I have YET to go to Bonnaroo (from South Carolina, here) yet have been 2 Sasquatches now and will be practically passing through Bonnaroo lands to go to Pitchfork for the 3rd time.

Last name sounds familiar. i'm not actually from hazard, just the area-- but generally, there's a small pool of last names to choose from in the mountains, so there's a good chance I probably know some of your family (somehow!)

Yeah, Bonnaroo isn't worth it. I don't mean to make this thread about that in particular, but the only thing Bonnaroo has that could possibly stand up to Sasquatch is the variety of foods available in the venue. I got a pizza there and a magic hat #9 that saved my life.

Yeah the one beautiful thing it's going for it is it being run by a really grass roots company in AC Entertainment (their second in command came to talk to my class a couple years back and seemed legitimately passionate about music and didn't even really talk that much about money, you could tell he loves what he does), whereas Livenation don't give a fuck as long as 'dey gettin' money.

Didn't they sell out to Viacom last year, though? I thought MTV networks bought... hmmm
edit: that appears to be a huge rumor. Oh well. Still, I guess one thing I could say that I absolutely could not tolerate was the looming police presence. it was that great big southern good ol' boy police presence too. let me also add that I'm all for security doing their job-- i just don't like seeing people slammed to the ground & hog tied. it really made me want to go home.

#9 was my favorite beer before I transitioned into stouts and porters. Loved the apricot flavor. I don't think I could drink it now, though.

Oh man! THAT happened? Yikes. That's east Tennessee for you (the other place my mom was raised).

yeah it happened. It was kind of violent. Chillwave is like... uh.. You know, washed out? Toro y moi? Panda bear? It's lo-fi combined with drippy glowy vocals. Lots of beach + summer + sun+ chill themes.

It's a phony genre classification. 'Chillwave' is Pitchforkian for 'poorly produced bedroom electronica'. Think lazy, soulless beats under crappy, cheap-sounding ambient noise.
Chillwave:
Think music that Alex likes.

Right.
Sometimes I feel so old. This is one of those times. I had to ask about a genre of music that I have never heard of.
