"Alternative" was as nonsensical a label then as "Indie" is now. Poochfuck is responsible for all of these inane, hyphenated genre classifications, and almost all of them are designed to make excuses for the truly terrible aspects of the music they are describing. "Chillwave"? What the fuck does that even mean? It doesn't mean anything, it means the performer didn't even bother with a second draft. It means LAZY.

It's a phony genre classification. 'Chillwave' is Pitchforkian for 'poorly produced bedroom electronica'. Think lazy, soulless beats under crappy, cheap-sounding ambient noise. Chillwave: Think music that Alex likes. Just don't bring Toro Y Moi into this...

Actually, Carles from hipsterrunoff coined the term chillwave. It's pretty lazy, but that's kind of the premise. It's meant to be whatever.

Such a great show. One of the best opening numbers I have ever seen, no exaggeration.

I loved that the crowd was so into James. I have seen very few shows with an audience that into it.

I was just overwhelmed because none of my friends have ever been fans of James and suddenly I'm in a (small) room full of them. I'd felt so alone for so long.
Yes, that entrance was something I've never seen before either. What a thing. And then when we sang "Sometimes" and they stopped playing and we just sang, sang, sang!
It's pretty rad that some of you were there. I already feel like we're connected! *stratches impulsively*

So right! It was such a thrill to be there with all those VERY enthusiastic fans, because I don't know many personally. Man, they were received like kings! And rightly so.

Name: Megan What my user name represents/means: well, my mom's nickname from her younger, wilder days was K. Y. Mess and years ago when I needed to come up with a user name I figured I'd go with K. Y. Mess Jr. and it's just stuck (normally it's written as kymess_jr but this board wouldn't allow the underscore) From: Vancouver, BC Favorite Bands: RHCP, CCR, Oasis, Sam Cooke, Devendra Banhart, Frightened Rabbit, We Are Scientists, The Cure, Faith No More, David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald, Pete Yorn, MGMT, Klaxons, Gang of Four, The Kinks, Eels, Cold War Kids, Phoenix, John Butler Trio, Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire, Daniel Wesley My All-Time Favorite Artist: hmm, really hard to choose but I will probably never get tired of CCR or David Bowie First Concert Attended: first one I remember was Sarah McLachlan when I was 6; first one I paid for was No Doubt when I was 12 Last Concert Attended: Two last week: Foals and Two Door Cinema Club All time Favourite Concert: probably Sasquatch last year, but I don't know if that should count.... maybe one of the many "greats" I've seen over the years, Lou Reed or David Bowie or Blondie... All time Favourite Festival: Sasquatch 2010!... Sasquatches Attended: 2010 was my first Sasquatch Wishlist: RHCP, Arcade Fire, The Dead Weather, Hot Chip, Cut Copy, Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, The Cure, David Bowie, The Constellations, Two Door Cinema Club, Ra Ra Riot, Eels, The Strokes... so, so many bands I'd just love to see at The Gorge with that breath-taking backdrop paired with the music...

normally it's written as kymess_jr but this board wouldn't allow the underscore You can add an underscore to it: Click your user name, and then click the heading " Modify Profile" and find "Display Name" in the list, then change it to whatever you'd like.

Foals and Two Door Cinema club were fucking AWESOME at coachella. They played mid-afternoon in the middle of the hottest day and they both had the tents rocking. Really glad I caught them both. Danced my ass off.

yeah it's a weird feature, that allows for people to fuck with you some days. As they can change their display name to something totally different than what you're used to.
