Pea-gnorant time. I had no idea Celiac was the term for people who couldn't consume gluten. I figured a Celiac was some sort of mythical beast and came in here thinking someone wanted to make a troll thread ala the "Dogs at Sasquatch" thread. haha, yep me too...

I agree with you Pea, and the live videos I've seen of Girl Talk are kind of underwhelming. His studio stuff is a lot better but obviously he can do a lot more in a non-live setting. I'm hoping that in the moment with the energy and the setting his set at Sasquatch will be entertaining, and from the reviews of people that have seen him, I'm sure it will be. I'm not huge on hyping shows for people who have never seen them because I feel like they can only be let down. Still, have to say for me Girl Talk live set is infinately better than in studio. It's nice that he does mixes live that were not on his studio album so that you feel like he personalized the show a bit, rather than just pressing play on his album. That said, I admit he still is effectively pressing play and goin with it, and the show is nothing without his on stage energy and the dancing masses. So in that way I guess it's like any DJ set.

I wasn't trying to imply that at all, I was just surprised to see GT as a #1 with little interest or knowledge of PL. Didn't mean to come off arrogant, I was genuinely curious. And I am not lumping PL in with the greatest artists of all time, but I think it's quite fair to say GT and PL are in the same realm? Yay for abbreviations. It's because I've seen Girl Talk live before and can vouch for how much I loved the show. I don't know anything about Pretty Lights aside from what I've read in this thread and videos on Youtube. I'm probably 85% indie/rock fan - 15% EDM, but I always look forward to at least one big dance party at sasquatch. If Pretty Lights is the biggest one, so be it, I'm there.

I can't remember the names of the tracks I already listened to, but I didn't mind those in comparison. Does no one else feel that there are certain electronic acts (Chemical Brothers, for example) that would be at your ipod. Sure any DJ with a bass that drops every 5 minutes is enough to make a group of fcked up people have a good time, but it's just hard to imagine how someone is headliner material if they are all flash and no substance. Those tracks seem more promising.
Do most people on the board have the opinion that EDM is solelt a live experience and not something that you ever put on your ipod walking down the street? Maybe I'm the odd one out.
Don't get me wrong I will have a great time at the show either way, just sayin...

And this (possibly my favorite Beck song): I just want to thank you again for these videos, Lumpy. Even if he doesn't play that shit, Pay No Mind is the jam. For some reason the first minute of this video seriously reminds me of Bob Dylan. From 0:35 - 0:55 especially. Great track though.

So, do Pretty Lights have any good original tracks I should be checking out?
I Know little about them. This thread alone has me interested enough to join the party, but I mean, are they something worth listening to on record at all?
Tracks on youtube have not impressed me, though I get how a live show can be a whole different world when it comes to EDM.

i really dont think he would play songs from his other bands as it is almost disrespectful to the other artist in those bands to play without them. I don't really see how it would be disrespectfull, especially considering Jack had most if of the influence in writing music for all of his bands. I know Brendan Benson had a significant role in the Raconteurs. Still, I don't hear anyone complaining about Paul playing Beatles songs.

WHAT I do not understand how Animal Collective was considered a disaster. It was so good. And they played Slippi.I love Animal Collective, but I do have to admit that I found the sound a bit off at their Sasq show. Still never considered it a disaster by any means. Definitely not even close to the epic train wreck that was Mars Volta... the only upside was that it made the UFO show that much better in comparison.

Thanks is the song that got me into them. Such a good jam. Loved it. My desire to give you props for leading me to this track has overcome my inertia to create an account after a couple years of anonymous lurking. Thanks.
