you know, i actually get perfect service in the camp site, but very little in the venue...just stay with a friend i guess. walkie talkies are a great idea. it also helps that the gorge is much less chaotic than coachella though.
the situation with bringing food and beverage into the concert itself, however, always seems to be up in the air for a while. no matter what though, at least they let you bring water in. some concerts don't, and they can go to hell
haha that is interesting about CoS. i heard the rumor there first, then they slashed it out, and today it's a "strong rumor." nice to see things changing so much. keeps things exciting. you know, what gets me through the days before the festival is always the news about additions...that's probably totally normal though
anyone listen to the constantines here? i'm crazy about this band and i think it would be awesome to see them at sasquatch! without the hail from 2006...is there any speculation that they might be added? it looks like their tour is only planned out till early April, so it seems possible
i'm not really all about mars volta myself, but i hope they're added. i love at the drive-in (father of mars volta) and i like sparta (the other spawn of drive-in), but mars volta isn't easy to get into. eriatarka and the widow are fairly accessible...also try listening to the entirety of deloused in the comatoreum. they're very strange though...
yeah, ghostland was a total surprise for me last year. what's the deal with this mars volta crap? they're confirmed, they're not confirmed, they're a rumor....i never even heard speculation about mars volta until today. what's happening with them?
the KINKS? the KINKS? i was positive i read that wrong. shit, that's a bold suggestion, wikipedia....yeah, i guess it will all be clear monday. as though i want to wait though...
you know, its true--this is the year that needs to be incredible. i loved last year, but i can't imagine it was a particular financial success. APW bombed last year, and that's why they got radiohead this time, isn't it?
the concept of you camping is kind of weird. i mean, its the coolest thing in the world, but its so much cheaper to camp with other people, since you can split the ticket cost. if you did manage to hitch a ride to the camp area, you'd be saving everybody some money. the only issue is that so many cars will be packed with crap. if you travel light, i'm positive hitching would work out....
the heat of 05 was definitely my worst experience. it was my first year and i tried to get some whiskey in the gate. it was in a Dr pepper bottle and they told me to drink it, so i did, and i was fairly intoxicated. i didnt drink enough water, and i passed out for an hour right when kanye west started his set. when i came to, i had the time of my life, but damn... my best experience was probably during the black angels last year. i was going nuts and someone i didnt know came up to the front by me, doing the same. then he smoked me a bowl of hash, the dandys came on, and i was high for most of the night. good times at sasquatch...
yeah, getting alcohol in is way, way harder. i mean, sometimes the security is really lax, and if you're clever and creative you can get tons of alcohol in. often, they're assholes though. last year, on the 2nd day, they were so intense that everyone i was with missed the first few acts, which we really wanted to catch. i'd like to see some consistency this year. pot is easy though. i mean, getting a bong in wouldnt be easy though. could someone bring a hookah? it just seems like bringing one in wouldn't be too weird. everyone is sitting in the grass smoking something anyway. a hookah seems like it would be cool, if it's allowed... probably not i guess.
well sasquatch is thus far the best festival for a few reasons. one that people didn't mention is that the gorge is one of the coolest venues in existence. at coachella, which is flat, your view is crap unless you pack yourself into the front in the ungodly heat. the gorge is a bowl, so your view always rocks. based on my personal preferences, sasquatch>coachella>bonnaroo>APW (even though radiohead is incredible and there are some good smaller acts so far. it's not big enough yet and jack johnson is a weak headliner)
