Have you heard his other band? Alexisonfire... completely different...
*edit* I'm ready to be flamed for this, but I actually like the album, "Sometimes". I haven't heard the new one yet...

Are we sure this guy isn't trying to be funny? Ha ha!!! Unfortunatly I think he's trying to be as serious as possible...it's not working out to well for him though. STAY AWAY!!! He is boring as hell live.

His lyrics aren't that bad, they just happen to be kind of cliche. He isn't the best song writer, but the songwriting in his Full Time Band Alexisonfire is pretty good. This is just a side project that is not great, but somewhat decent. I judge him more based off of Alexisonfire than City and Colour since he has been in that band for much longer and devotes way more time towards that band.

Does Dallas write lyrics for aof? I thought George did that shit.
That said, I haven't bought an alexisonfire album since their self-titled.

I'm going to let these speak for themselves... Such fragile moments we share You are my everything Even with nothing to say I cross my heart and hope to die, Before I have the chance to lie, To you, my dear, who I wish no harm, But I know in the end this will turn out wrong, See, I've been known to fall in love, But sometimes love just is not enough, My heart will stray before too long, So please forgive me for when I sing this song. So heres to living life miserable. And heres to all the lonely stories that I've told. Maybe drinking wine would validate my sorrow. Every man needs a muse and mine could be the bottle.
Maybe then I could sleep at night. I wouldn't lie awake until the morning light. This is something that I'll never control. My nerves will be the death of me, I know. For the record: I know how to play the game of selectively excerpting a songwriter's worst material to make them look terrible. But these are from the first three songs on his god damn album. No excuses.

No, never listened to them before. I've never listened to City and Colour until last night. But seriously, Save Your Scissors? Gooo on and saaaave your scissssoooors. There has to be a big sense of humor behind this. It isn't even about recycling either.

the credibility he developed from Alexisonfire is quickly wearing thin on this side project. But his songs were cutesy enough to pick up a MuchMusic (MTV in Canada) Vj... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leah_Miller...which I can't say I've done (whether I would want to or not is a different story), so kudos to him. In fact, he wrote a cheesy love song to her before they got engaged...I can't tell you which song it was though, because they all seem to be cheesy love songs.

"I've never been to Alaska, but I can tell you this, I've been to Lincoln, Nebraska and hell you know it ain't worth shit"
This guy should be at the comedy tent. In fact, I'm going to tell him this between songs. "Dude, your songs are funnier than Adam Sandler. You should be in the comedy tent yo."

Does Dallas write lyrics for aof? I thought George did that shit. That said, I haven't bought an alexisonfire album since their self-titled. It has been said in interviews that the songs are written by the whole band and one person brings up an idea for a song and they write it together, so I give Dallas some credit for Alexisonfire lyrics.

Ya, I looked around for a bit today, and in terms of writing credits, it's always listed as alexisonfire... never any specifics on who does what.

He's not as bad as you guys make him sound. His lyrics are corny but his voice and the sound make up for it. I don't really listen to him too often, maybe once every few months, if that. But I did see him in concert last year and I really enjoyed it.

So City and Colour had to cancel due to an illness. Is "making happy festival goers sad" technically an illness?

I don't normally get excited about someone being ill but I was pleased not to have sit through his set before the xx. Did anyone like Mt St Helen's Vietnam Band? Not for me, and some drunk french guy was behind me with a foam tube (which he frequently referred to his magic stick) hitting my friends to the beat and screaming for City and Colour. Some awesome guy behind me called him out and the guy's girlfriend called him a "fag in a moustache". Amusing.
