Betting we aren't getting that lineup today after all. They've deleted all mention of today's date at the announcement. I wouldn't be surprised if they've hit pause until they have a better idea of what this summer is going to shape up to be.

Hey that's my crew in the update photo!
"But my, how things have changed." About what was expected. Delays in the announcement, so I guess we keep chugging along in limbo.

Fitz and the Tantrums announced a show in southern Oregon 8/24. It’s their only show announced around that time, and it seems weird to me to do a one off show not in their hometown on a Monday night. I bet they add dates up the coast that week and play Thing.

Time to get back to some rampant speculation!
Ben Gibbard makes a lot of sense for this Thing. He already has solo shows scheduled for this spring (some of which I assume will be rescheduled) and summer, and his solo profile has been raised a lot recently with these Live from Home streams. Death Cab played Sasquatch four times and the Postal Service twice. I think Jeff Tweedy playing Wilco songs alone was well-received last year, and I think Ben playing Death Cab songs alone would be too!
And speaking of artists who last played Sasquatch in 2013, I think Cake would be a good fit as a headliner.

As long as somebody good plays at the same time as Cake, I'll allow it.

Kassa Overall is coming off a good head of steam from their newest album, and played a pretty kickass, jazzy in-store at Easy Street. They'd be a cool addition to expand away from the straight-laced 00s indie rock that anchored last year's lineup. Wouldn't mind seeing Girlpool or Soccer Mommy "repeat" (from Sasquatch 2018), and they've both released new material recently.

We got pooped to 2021, dudes and dudettes. Stay healthy out there. Tremendously bummed, but at least they intend to bring it back in the future. This is one of the farthest-out events to be cancelled, so it doesn't seem like a public health issue. I mean, the situation could get worse, but it seems unlikely that it would be unsafe for a 5,000 person event to happen in rural Washington, but safe for a 72,000 person football game to happen in Seattle around the same time. So I assume a lot of artists dropped out because they had to reschedule other, higher-profile dates. But Thing still has plenty of time to replace those artists. Maybe with the expansion to three days, they didn't think they could curate a good enough lineup with the pool of available artists? That seems unlikely. Why not just go back down to two days if three days is too difficult to book now? Did they fear ticket sales would be low if people feared the situation could get worse or the event could get cancelled, so they'd want to wait to buy tickets until closer to festival? What do y'all think? I would love to know which artists they still had booked when they made the decision to cancel this year's festival so that I can go see them when they come through town in the spirit of attending Thing!

I think it would be incredibly irresponsible to run any sort of festival event for the rest of this year. Also, I highly doubt the city of Port Townsend would allow such an event to take place after seeing assloads of city-dwelling imbeciles flock to rural areas during the initial "social distancing" phase before lockdowns were in effect across the state. All of that combined with the fact that nearly all tours globally have been cancelled or postponed into the fall likely means that any non-local bands on the lineup will probably not be in the area during the original THING 2020 dates.

Smart move by STG/Snacks/THING. 2020 spoiler alert: There won't be any festivals this year. If a festival hasn't cancelled by now, it's because they're either panicking or stupid. THING is neither of those, and considering tickets haven't even gone on sale yet they were in a much better position to make the call now than most other festivals. See you cuties in 2021! Gonna be lit.

If this THING hadn't been postponed I would be rampantly speculating hard about X showing up.

Has anyone here read "On the Beach?" Pretty grim sci-fi tale about a bunch of Australians in the post apocalypse. Nuclear war has wiped out the northern hemisphere and everyone in the south is waiting for the fallout and radiation to reach them, effectively ending human life. The push for the story is that they receive a strange radio signal from Seattle, WA and set off to investigate if there are still survivors in North America.
That's how I feel posting on this forum these days. "Hello Seattle? Anyone out there?"
Anyway, I had this dad in a KEXP shirt and Sub Pop hat come into my work the other day and my first thought was, damn; cool dude. We started chit chatting and it turned out he works for STG/Sub Pop and we ended up talking about shows of years gone by for a bit. Lots of "oh yeah that time at Sasquatch the wind fucked up the main stage or when Bigfoot had audio issues." Apparently that one year with the wildfire nearby they were less than an hour from evacuating the entire festival before the winds blew it a different direction. Absolutely wild. I honestly started to tear up getting hit with this unexpected wave of memories. Inevitably we start talking about Thing and I think his exact words were "we are all super bummed and trying to put it in the past so we can work towards next year." Sounds like a ton of what was speculated here was accurate. The festival was going to be a bigger deal overall while still distancing itself from the mega-fests. He name dropped a few of the bands that were on the "hell of a lineup." From the sounds of it everything is just getting pushed to next year without too much hassle. Thing is getting re-geared for 2021 and we can look forward to what this year would have had.
In summary I miss concerts and all of music nerds! Can't wait for live music to be a thing again, hope everyone is doing their best!

I'm guessing the mans isn't on some restrictive NDA if he's bringing it up unprompted with an overly excited waiter. Not the most exciting groups for my taste but it's nice to know a little but of what would've been.
