ShamirWiki Link hereI recently started listening to Shamir, and I'm liking his vibe. His androgynous voice and bubblegum pop persona are equally matched by his geek-strong "fuck with me and I'll fuck with you" attitude. His refusal to be defined by gender creates a confidence that you can hear in his music & lyrics. I'm just now discovering Shamir, and I haven't dug too deep into this artist yet so I don't have a bunch of links or a list of quotes. Just my opinion and a few really cool videos of him and Mac DeMarco playing Jenga. Enjoy! And here's a song/video:

Caught him at the LIB festival in Vegas. Had never heard of him before, but his music was very catchy; the growing crowd listening to him turned into quite the dance party. Very fun performance; my wife could not get over his voice; sounds like is on helium.

Very fun performance; my wife could not get over his voice; sounds like is on helium. I was there too! One of my favorites of the weekend. That festival was a well run machine. Top notch in all aspects (even though the lineup was kinda meh for my personal taste). Loved it and would go again.

Interesting quotes describing Shamir on Wikipedia:
Shamir is known for having an androgynous countertenor voice.[1] Radio.com wrote that Shamir's singing voice, "like Joplin's, stops you in your tracks."[10] He does not mind having his voice described as androgynous, but notes that "countertenor" is the correct term: "It's not feminine, it's not masculine. It's a happy medium ... I feel like if the world was more like that, our problems would be gone."[10] Critic Jamieson Cox, writing for Pitchfork Media, wrote: With a piercing countertenor somewhere between Prince masquerading as Camille and the cracking adolescent soul of the teenage Michael Jackson, the 19-year-old North Las Vegas native dismantles the expectations maintained for vocalists based on their gender, demanding instead that the focus be placed on their agile, fluttering performance.[11] Lizzie Plaugic of CMJ called Shamir's music "amazingly unclassifiable," like a "souped-up Vegas Strip disco with a self-conscious pop bent," and wrote that his voice "limbers and stretches like a wad of pink Silly Putty dipped in glitter."[21]
